Gloomy Forest plot synopsis
This chapter is free of charge.
Seven or eight readers in the group chatted with me privately and asked me to put out the outline.
I thought about it, although this book can't be written for some reason, then I'll release the plot setting of the VR version of "Dark Forest" to everyone, which can be regarded as having a beginning and an end.
-
Those who have read the previous article know that the VR version of "Dark Forest" integrates the setting of 4000 Forbidden Forest.
That is, creatures, places, buildings, and other things in the forest cannot be named specifically, but can only be described, and cannot be described twice, otherwise they are also counted as names.
Once it is considered a name, there is an extremely terrifying danger that occurs.
That's why, in the prologue, the doctor uses the words 'east', 'forest', 'oily place', 'strange area', 'damn forest', 'weird forest' for a certain place.
And when werewolves call the protagonist, they also use one-time descriptions such as 'bastard lean meat', 'bastard from the government', and 'little lean meat'.
In addition, in the VR chapter of Dark Forest, a new mysterious organization will be revealed.
- Chaos Insurgency.
The word Chaos Insurgency first appeared in the "Control Failure" chapter, when the second protagonist of the parallel world casually mentioned it when he sent a message to Allah's horn through the 'old AI' FBC to clear the humans, and then became known to players.
Original:
After that, the incident in the Taikoo House subsided, and neither the Secretary nor the Supreme Council gave an explanation for the matter. We privately believe that the men who committed suicide and left the company were undercover agents planted by the Chaos Insurgency, the rivals of the Control Bureau, but were unfortunately caught and executed by the Director. ’
At this time, the player does not know what the Chaos Insurgency is, only that it is the opponent of the Control Bureau.
Then, in the DLC Secret Laboratory, the Chaos Insurgency is once again in the public eye, where players can play as the Chaos Insurgency against security and anomalies.
But I still don't know what this organization really is.
It wasn't until the release of the VR version of Dark Forest that the organization was truly known to players.
When I was writing the text, I buried a few holes.
That is, the protagonist loses his memory and does not know who he is.
But strangely, in the prologue, 'Mr. Joon' knows the protagonist and says that the protagonist will be punished in a strange way of death.
Original:
[Then you... How to... Escape from here...]
[This forest... Do you think... On your own... Can you do it...]
[You will... Retribution...]
[You will... Paying the price...]
-
Then, the first NPC werewolf he met at the end of the prologue actually knew the protagonist, and said that the things the protagonist had done were enough for him to eat the protagonist alive.
Original:
[Of course I know you...]
[You know me too...]
The werewolf pointed to the wolf-like face under the hood, grinning and drooling down his viscous saliva.
[I was before I met this... Hehe... Hehehe...]
The werewolf continues to observe around the protagonist.
[By what you've done...] I should have eaten you... Embarrassed lean meat...]
[But look at you who are the walking dead now... It's pathetic... I really don't have any appetite...]
[You should be glad to... Bastards from the government...]
-
From these two points, are there any other NPCs in the game who know the main character?
The answer is right.
Not only that, but a lot.
So why do so many people in the forest know the protagonist?
Who is the main character?
Let's take a look at what the doctor in the prologue has to say about the protagonist.
Original:
[Original... It turns out that the government has known about the situation inside for a long time...]
[You connected the whole 'forest' through tunnels...] You can even come and go freely... Secret entrances and strongholds were also established...]
As he spoke, in the instant calculation, the village doctor took out the key No. 21 that he had found from the protagonist and stretched it out.
[You're spying on us... You're watching us...]
[You look indifferently at us infected... Watch us mutate... And then die of agony...]
[You want to study this 'strange area'... So treat us as if we were in vivo experiments...]
[You have the power to save us... But you didn't...]
[You... You guys... Really damn it...! ]
-
To sum up, most readers may think that the identity of the protagonist is a government official, but in fact it is not.
In the chapter 197 of the Unnamed Forest, it is clearly stated that it is the people of the FBC Federal Control Bureau who enter the forest.
Original:
The FBC immediately took responsibility from the small country and began sending agents to investigate on the ground, but all of them were lost.
Due to the quality of the agents, the second investigative operation was changed to the entry of Mobile Task Force Zeta-9 'Mole'.
However, it was found that the mutated towering trees formed a high wall and could not be entered.
The helicopter also failed mechanically due to the chaos of the magnetic field and could not be sent to people at high altitude.
In the end, the FBC had to dig into the forest to investigate.
This is the match for the all-important 'Underground Passage 21' in the game.
-
So why do the NPCs in the forest say that the protagonist is someone 'from the government'?
Players and readers really think that the protagonist is a government official.
Actually, this is written to limit the knowledge of the Forest NPCs.
They don't know what the control bureau is, only that the protagonist is an official person.
And the official is generally the people of the government.
Therefore, in the prologue, the NPCs who know the protagonist refer to the protagonist as 'someone from the government'.
In fact, the protagonist is someone who controls the Bureau.
-
Then the problem arises again, in the chapter one hundred and ninety-seven of the Unnamed Forest.
Only three groups of people have been explicitly mentioned entering the forest.
The first batch, agents of the Control Bureau, turned out to be out of contact.
The second group, the Mole Squad, is still missing.
The third batch, the investigation team led by the protagonist, only the protagonist with amnesia remained.
Since there are only forest natives and people in control of the forest, what role do the Chaos Insurgency play in this chapter?
Before analyzing the Chaos Insurgency, let's take a look at the original text of the actual demo of the Dark Forest in Chapter 206:
[We're stuck... By this forest...]
[We've lost touch with the outside world...] No one responded...]
[Everyone else is dying... It became a nutrient for the trees...]
[In the end, I'm the only one left... Alone...]
[But... It didn't take long... The dead are back...]
-
The above original text is the protagonist's own tone.
That tells you that the protagonist's investigation team is dead, and has been resurrected from the dead, and has come back to find the protagonist.
Combined with the prologue, the protagonist is injured and falls unconscious in the forest, but is rescued by the doctor.
Is that understandable?,The dead teammates came back to find the protagonist.,The protagonist fled.,Finally, he was injured and physically exhausted in a coma in the forest.,And then the doctor of the prologue saved him by mistake.,So the game begins.。
-
It's strange, why do the members of the protagonist's squad die and come back to the protagonist? Did the protagonist do something?
Why do so many NPCs in the forest know the protagonist?
What are the Chaos Insurgency doing inside?
Now, I would like to reveal to you what the protagonist did in the VR chapter of "Dark Forest".
In this setting, the protagonist is a spy planted by the Chaos Insurgency in the Control Bureau.
It's like Dr. Maynard and Skinner Security in "Control Failure".
So, an investigation team, the protagonist is the Chaos Insurgency, and the others are all people from the Control Bureau.
Will the protagonist do nothing?
As a result, only the protagonist of the investigation team remains, and everyone else is dead.
So how did the protagonist kill the rest of the team?
Quite simply, take advantage of the forest's 'unnameable' feature and let the squad members trigger the death mechanism one by one because of the name.
The question arises again, how does the protagonist know about the 'unnameable' nature of the forest?
Who told him?
This is thanks to the personal experience of the Mole Squad.
As the second group to enter the forest, the Mole Squad totals 6 people.
In the process of exploration, the sacrifice of one team member after another made the leader of the C-1 team finally understand the characteristics of the forest.
But the truth they discovered could never be passed on to the outside Control Bureau.
Because the Mole Squad will eventually die in the forest, turning into houses and furniture, players can experience this despair firsthand in the form of side quests.
Therefore, the protagonist learns about the characteristics and secrets of the forest from the camera records of the Mole Squad, and then uses them to kill the members of his own team.
Then, as the first person in the forest to learn about the trait 'can't be named', the protagonist begins his job as a Chaos Insurgency.
As a behind-the-scenes man, he secretly spies on the forest dwellers, instigating them to cause trouble, turning them into monsters step by step.
Like what:
The doctor is kicked out of the village by the villagers, and it is the protagonist who secretly operates it.
Lady Pretty has a bloated mutation, which is also caused by the protagonist taking advantage of the trait 'can't be named', and then blames the doctor.
For the sake of Ms. Qiao, Mr. Jun went out of the village alone to find a doctor to settle accounts, which was also instigated by the protagonist.
Werewolf was originally a hunter and the husband of Lady Pretty because of the protagonist's use of the characteristics, he became a werewolf after his death.
So, why do so many NPCs know the protagonist?
Because the protagonist was already secretly manipulating their life and death before the game began, that is, before the amnesia.
That's it, everything was going smoothly.
What I didn't expect was that the investigation team that was killed was resurrected after death because of a sporum in the forest, and came back to pay for the protagonist's life.
During the escape, the protagonist is severely injured in the head and is unconscious on the prologue map, but is rescued by the doctor.
The doctor originally wanted to save people, but found the diary and key on the protagonist's body.
Knowing that he and the entire forest dweller had been under surveillance, he had become an experiment for the outside world.
Enraged, he injects the protagonist with a potion, developed by spores, and walks away with the key.
After the protagonist is injected with this potion, and the forest is able to invade the mind, he begins to have frequent terrifying hallucinations.
In this way, the protagonist searches for his own memories while discovering the truth about his own actions and the mutation of the forest in the process.
Finally, depending on the player's choice, the protagonist can use a flamethrower to burn the alien lifeforms of the forest, causing a fire that burns everything and atons for his sins.
Or forever unable to sleep in a dream woven by the forest.
And the game has two easter eggs.
Easter Egg 1:
That is, when the protagonist is doing the side quest 'Wedding', he will meet an NPC policeman, Ellis.
Ellis learns that Ellis and his colleagues are searching for a missing child in the forest, and learns an urban legend about a forest witch.
This led to the horror game "Blair Witch".
In other words, the forest of "Blair Witch" is the same place as "The Dark Forest".
Easter Egg 2:
The protagonist receives a phone call from a man named Dwayne during the process.
This person is the protagonist of "Face".
Dwayne says that he hates the protagonist and why he can't think of joining the Chaos Insurgency with the protagonist in the first place.
led to the destruction of a small town called Riversdale, and the destruction of countless happy families.
And now, he was also arranged into that house by the Chaos Insurgency, and finally couldn't bear the pressure and dragged his family to death together.
The protagonist is scary, because after amnesia, he doesn't know this person named Dwayne at all.
And listening to the meaning of the phone, this one named Dwayne seems to be dead?
At this time, players understand why the FBC organization, which was clearly established for the continuation of mankind, would commit such heinous human experiments in "Face".
After doing it for a long time, it turned out that it was not the Control Bureau, but the opponent of the Control Bureau, the Chaos Insurgency!
The protagonist of "Face" is not a scientist from the Control Bureau, but a member of the Chaos Insurgency.
Now, it makes sense.
-
The above is the plot flow and setting of the VR version of "Dark Forest".
I'm really sorry, but because of some mysterious forces, this book can't be written for the time being.
Really sorry!
I will summarize the lessons and lessons in the new book to avoid such a thing.
I hope that new and existing readers will support the new book.
