Chapter 182: The Three Great Realms
At the temple gate.
Mu De, the abbot of the Pure Land Temple, was wearing a seven-treasure glazed robe, holding a Zen staff, and said to Su Xing: "The three of you came to my temple, I don't know what happened?" ”
Xuanzang said respectfully: "Disciple Xuanzang, a monk from the Small Pure Land Temple of Dongsheng Shenzhou, has come to your temple to practice. ”
After that, he explained the origin of the 'Little Pure Land Temple' of Dongsheng Shenzhou to the monks present.
After hearing this, Abbot Mude did not have any expression, but said in a calm tone: "If the master wants to enter this temple, he needs to wait until the first day of the second month to come to the mountain gate, and someone will accept you." ”
Xuanzang said: "The disciple has something important to do, and he can't wait so long, can he make it convenient?" ”
Abbot Mude didn't ask much, only glanced at Su Xing and the monkey beside Xuanzang, and nodded: "Yes." ”
He made a request: "But the master needs to pass the test of the temple first, if he really has a relationship with the temple, he can stay in the temple as an elder, if there is no Buddha fate, then he will leave by himself!" ”
Some monks want to join the Pure Land Temple directly by going through the back door, so it is reasonable for the abbot to ask for a study first.
Therefore, Xuanzang nodded and responded: "It should be so, and I ask the master to ask the question." ”
The abbot turned around, looked at the Buddha on the stone wall of the temple gate, and said, "Dare to ask the Master, what is the explanation of the Buddha on the stone wall?" ”
Xuanzang's cultivation is not high, and that is because he has been practicing in Dongsheng Divine Continent before.
Dongsheng Shenzhou is the territory of 'longevity', and it is natural for Buddhist practitioners to practice current affairs with half the effort, and it is natural that it is difficult to achieve great achievements.
However, Xuanzang Buddhism is behind the understanding.
Its Buddha nature, even the elders and abbots in the small Pure Land Temple are not as good as it, and the Buddha on the stone wall is not difficult for him.
Xuanzang explained: "The Buddha on the left side is intended to teach practitioners to get rid of distracting thoughts and suppress desires in order to achieve the Great Dao. ”
If a Buddhist practitioner is controlled by desire, he will become a demon, and only by suppressing his desire can he become a Buddha.
So Xuanzang's explanation is fine.
He continued: "As for the Buddha on the right, it is a warning to the practitioner that the four major monks are empty, and when they reach the state of having no desires and no desires, then there will be no distracting thoughts in their hearts. ”
The abbot nodded and praised: "Buddhism is a solid study.... Do you know which of these two Buddha poems is higher or lower? ”
"This...."
Xuanzang looked at the Buddhas on both sides of the stone wall, his face was tangled, and he stood in place for a long time without speaking.
Seeing this, the monkey on the side said: "Naturally, the Buddha on the right side is better, and people's desires are formless and formless.... If you think it exists, then it exists, and if you think there is nothing, then there is nothing, so the concept of 'Bodhi has no tree' should be more sophisticated. ”
Among the three of Su Xing, the monkey is naturally jumpy.
In addition, he has a thorough cultivation, so he doesn't need to think too much about what he says and does, and he naturally blurts out what he thinks of at this moment.
Hearing the monkey's views on the Buddha, the abbot did not say anything else, but said to Xuanzang: "Xuanzang, then what is your opinion?" ”
Although Xuanzang subconsciously felt that simply explaining like a monkey did not seem to be able to perfectly interpret the word 'desire'.
But he thought about it for a long time, but he finally didn't come up with a new opinion, so he nodded and said, "The same is true of the disciple's thoughts." ”
The abbot shook his head and said with a smile: "Xuanzang, let's go, just wait until the first day of February next year, and then you can worship in this temple." ”
Apparently.
He was dissatisfied with Xuanzang's answer that he was going to drive people out.
This made the monkey dissatisfied: "You old monk, is it difficult, do you think what I just explained is wrong?" ”
Abbot Mu De said: "Your Excellency's explanation, there is no mistake in the explanation. ”
The monkey said, "Since everything is right, then why don't you let my master enter the temple?" ”
"Because that's what the other monks say."
Abbot Mu De said: "Since the monks who give the same explanation need to wait until the first day of the second month to get started, why can your master enter the temple now?" ”
"This...."
The monkey was speechless and said angrily: "That Buddha obviously has only one explanation, you have to have a different view, this is clearly embarrassing!" ”
The monkey said with a threatening tone: "Do you know the consequences of rejecting me?" ”
Abbot Mu De was not afraid: "The four major monks are empty, and they have long put life and death out of the way. ”
"Good, good, good."
After the monkey said 'yes' three times in a row, he took out the iron rod from his ear and laughed angrily: "Then I want to see if you really put life and death out of the way today." ”
After that, the monkey wanted to come forward and 'reason' with the monks.
It's just that although the monkey's tone is ruthless and his movements are scary, he has always stood in place and has never really stepped forward to make a move with the monks.
Yavin
Behind the monkey.
Xuanzang also persuaded in a timely manner: "Wukong can't!" Since the abbot said that he would come again on the first day of February, why should I wait a little longer? Whether it is in the Pure Land Temple or in the high city, as long as you have a Buddha in your heart, you can practice anywhere. ”
Xuanzang is worthy of being a person with profound Buddha nature.
Even when he was persuading the monkeys, his words were full of Buddhist teachings.
This made Mu De, who was the abbot, look at Xuanzang and nod, with undisguised appreciation in his eyes.
It's just that rules are rules.
No matter how talented Xuanzang is, he will not open the door for the sake of the other party....
Outside the Jodoji Mountain Gate.
Just when Xuanzang was rejected by Mude and wanted to return in a huff, Su Xing suddenly stood up.
He said aloud: "That monk, is it possible that as long as you can have different opinions, my master will be able to worship your temple?" ”
Seeing that Su Xing directly called Mu De 'that monk', before Mu De could speak, a monk came forward and said: "You are so rude to speak, when you see the abbot, you want to call 'Master Mu De' or 'Master', how can you directly call 'that monk'?" ”
Su Xing said with a smile: "Whether it's a monk or a mage, it's just a title.... Besides, I'm just a lay disciple of my master, and I don't know much about these rules, so if you look at me in this detail, aren't you obsessed with appearances? ”
"This...."
The monk was speechless for a long time, so he hid his face and retreated into the crowd.
"Amitabha."
Seeing that Su Xing also had a lot of Buddhism in his conversation, Abbot Mude said: "Since the layman has a different opinion, the old man is willing to hear about it!" ”
Su Xingdao: "There are three realms in life, and the first realm is to see the mountains and the water.... In the second realm, the mountains are not mountains, and the water is not water.... In the third realm, the mountains are mountains, and the water is water. ”
Su Xing looked at the Buddha on the stone wall: "In my humble opinion, these are the two Buddha poems on the stone wall, both of which are just in the second realm.... The people who made these two Buddha verses regarded their desires as flood beasts after all, and they did not dare to face them for fear of becoming demons! ”
"Bold!"
"Arrogance!"
As soon as Su Xing's words came out, all the monks were furious.
In terms of cultivation, Su Xing was indeed a step ahead of all the monks present.
But when it comes to Buddhism, Su Xing is just a lay disciple who has come out of the house, and he is so wild at this moment, and even ignores the authors of the two Buddhist poems in the town temple.
So, a monk on the spot couldn't help it: "Listening to Your Excellency's tone, you must have reached the third realm?" Then I would like to hear what you, a person who has reached the third realm, have a high opinion of the word 'desire'? ”
