"Hiss......"
"Hoo ......"
The sound of rapid breathing echoed in the dark, cold room, and the clock turned rigidly and clicked.
"Don't worry, take your time, we have time."
The man across the table was half immersed in the shadows, and only his neat white shirt and black tie could be faintly seen, his delicate skeletal cane casually set aside, and the white quill stained with ink was written on the paper as the client spoke.
"So, what is your commission?"
The man asked, and as he moved, the recording hand also stopped, and the ink ran down the tip of the pen, condensing into a black dot on the paper.
"Mr. Ewell, I know that my request is unreasonable, I accidentally left my father's badge in the common room, it is the only relic he left me, but I really don't want to go back, so, I can only come to you."
"Go to the museum to retrieve your father's badge?"
The man called Ewelly was a little confused.
"...... right"
The roar outside the window masked his response, and the huge patrol airship floated slowly like a whale, gray particles drifting in the air, like a mist around the city, and the outline of the building was faintly visible.
"Please don't worry, the Black River Detective Agency has taken your commission."
Ewell's words were reassuring, the flames of kerosene lamps burning, casting dancing shadows on the walls, and the darkness seemed to have life, permeated with eerie and gloomy coldness.
"This is my employee badge, and with this I can enter the museum."
The client placed a thin booklet on the table and pushed it in front of Ivel, with the special gilded logo of the Pornia Museum on the cover and the three large letters "employee card".
"Can you tell me why I don't want to go to the museum?"
Ewell asked suddenly.
"I've had some trouble with the admin......"
"I heard you resigned?"
"Uh...... Sort of. The client scratched his head embarrassedly and said.
"You just said that according to the schedule, you should be ...... today Graveyard shift? ”
"Yes."
Ewell turned his head to look out the window, and the gloomy sky seemed to have darkened.
"It's getting dark."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ewell, I have to go home, and no matter what they say, I won't go to work there."
The client stood up, shook Ewell's hand respectfully, and as he turned to leave the agency, he glanced at Ewell, who reached into his pocket, hesitating to take out the staff code in his pocket.
"What's wrong?" Ewell turned his head and wondered.
"Nothing."
The client pushed open the door and walked out.
Ewell put down the quill pen, and after a while, all the handwriting that had just been written on the paper disappeared little by little.
Then, new words slowly appeared on the paper.
Here, there has always been such a saying.
If it's not necessary, don't go near it......
