Chapter 18: Shocking News

When Evan opened the door, he saw that it was Deloris standing outside the door. This surprised him a little, and even more surprised Delores with red and swollen eyes, as if she had just cried. Evan hurriedly invited her into the room, wanting to ask what was going on. Deloris shook her head and politely declined Aven's invitation, instead asking if the latter had time to go outside with her for a chat.

Not understanding what was going on, Evan agreed, stepped out of the room, turned and closed the door gently, and then followed Deloris around the Lord's Mansion. The moonlight sprinkled on the ground without reservation, and the lively city of London during the day was like a sleeping child, wearing silver pajamas, lying in a warm bed.

Summer in London is not very hot, but at night the cool breeze is even more refreshing. Evan walked with Deloris for a while, and when he didn't see what the latter said, he tried to ask several times, but he couldn't say anything. Delores' red eyes made Evan feel that something was wrong.

As she walked, Deloris suddenly whispered, "Aven, you know what. Just now, my brother Seth was found dead in the room by his servants, looking like he had been poisoned......

Evan turned his head to look at Delores, and on his fair face, a tear slipped silently from the corner of his eye.

"My siblings and I actually had a good relationship when I was a child, and my brothers often took me around to play, and I was very happy and carefree at that time." Delores' voice was a little low and sad, and she didn't know if she was talking about it to Aven or if she was nostalgic for the past.

"Later, my brothers started to help my father manage the territory, and we had less and less time to play. Later, from time to time, I could see several of my brothers arguing with each other, and even fighting. I was terrified."

Evan pondered Delores' words and said with some uncertainty, "You mean, Seth was poisoned by some of your other brothers?"

However, Deloris shook her head, rejecting Aven's conjecture. Evan carefully recalled that the last time he saw Seth was when he returned from the Kent barracks, and then there was a conflict between the two sides, but at the time of the conflict, the two did not meet. After being reminded by Delores, he also noticed that it seemed that he had not seen Seth since the end of the war.

"Brother Seth made my father very angry because he had a conflict with you, and after the war ended, he was locked up and confined without his father's permission. The others will be even less able to approach him." Delores's voice was a little hoarse, and I don't know if it was because she cried too much.

The more Evan listened, the more numb his scalp became, and a gust of evening wind blew, which couldn't help but make him feel cold.

"What do you mean?" Evan stopped and looked at the girl in front of him quietly.

"I know this will break trust between us, but I still want to ask you if you did this, please tell me the truth." Deloris turned around and looked at Evan earnestly. The wind gently blew the girl's long hair, turned around Aven, and finally drifted away in the empty street.

"It's not me." Ai Wen looked at the choked girl in front of him and said with some indignation.

Deloris looked at Evan quietly, bowing and apologetic with a crying voice, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have ...... Your ...... should not be doubted I'm sorry!"

Ai Wen looked at the girl's appearance and sighed silently, and the resentment in his heart dissipated invisibly. He stepped forward and gently hugged Delores, placing her on his shoulder and patting her on the back. As if she had something to rely on, Delores no longer hid her sadness and burst into tears. A terrible cry pierced through his ears like a sharp blade to his heart.

Evan opened his mouth, finally swallowing the thought in his stomach. I can check with the suspect in person to see if I really think wrong, but even if I know the truth, it is best to rot in my stomach. Otherwise, it is hard to imagine whether the girl in her arms can bear this result.

After crying uncontrollably for a while, Delores gradually came back to her senses. Her face turned a little red, and she quickly struggled out of Aivan's arms, wiped the tears on her face, and tidied up the wrinkled clothes on her body.

"I'm sorry, Aven. I've lost my temper and made you laugh." Deloris stammered a little.

Evan looked at Delores with some embarrassment and felt a little amused.

How could Deloris not see the smile on the corner of Evan's mouth, and said with some annoyance, "Don't laugh! Hmph, I'm going to sleep."

Saying that, the girl fled with some anger, and her figure disappeared into the lord's mansion. When Deloris was far away, the smile on Evan's face slowly retracted, and he was as cold as frost, and turned to walk towards the only room in the lord's mansion that was still brightly lit.

Walking to the door of the room, Ai Wen found that the door was actually open, not closed, hesitated, and reached out to push the door open. In the large room, only some candles were burning by the window. The Count of Morlore sat against the wall with his glass in hand, and the dim candlelight was imprinted on the count's somewhat old face.

"I knew you would come when Deloris came looking for you." Count Morlore said weakly, and he pushed a glass that had been filled long ago to the table, where another chair was placed.

Evan closed the door, walked to the table and sat down, and asked with a serious face, "I'm not mistaken."

"Nope." Count Morol took a sip of his drink and stared at the candle flame in a daze.

"Why do you do this, you don't have to." Evan asked sternly, "You should have heard that cry just now. Do you just want to make her sad? No cruel animal would do that, and you're a cultist."

"I don't do it, and you will do it in the future." The Count of Morloll threw the question back to Aven.

Evan furrowed his eyebrows and asked, somewhat incomprehensibly, "Why is that?"

"A madman who is full of revenge, and has a territorial claim, why should others not do it?" The Count of Morol spoke astonishingly.

"What do you mean...... Seth is crazy?" Evan looked at Count Morlor with some bewilderment.

Count Morlore looked up at Aven, and there was not a glimmer in his cloudy eyes, "When he returns, he will only shout and scream for revenge on Deloris and you. The priest said that he was possessed by Satan and that he could not exorcise demons. Although I am also saddened by this outcome, I can't help it."

Possessed by Satan...... Evan was speechless for an instant, and this kind of reason was probably believed only by medieval people. Judging by the description of the Count of Morlor, Seth's situation seems more like some kind of mental trauma.

"Aven, even if you don't think about that. You're going to have the same problem in the future." Count Morloll paused and said.

"What do you mean?" Evan was made a little suspicious by Count Morlor.

"My rest of the sons are not good at the game. I can imagine that when they become counts in the future, they will definitely indulge in a life of drunkenness and enjoy the pleasure of power. With your abilities, you will inevitably face many challenges. If they trust you, it's fine, if they don't, if someone comes and slanders you, you're going to be in a worse situation than you are today."

Count Morol shook his glass and took a sip of his drink, but there was only a bitter taste in his mouth, just like the bitterness in his heart at this moment. "Then you'll have to choose whether to take it or fight back. If you resist, you're bound to do something that will make Deloris sad. But if you don't resist, you can only achieve nothing, and even have your head cut off."

Evan listened silently, unable to answer this question for a while. "All I can say is that I won't do it until it's the worst. But no one can say what the future holds. The Earl doesn't need to be so pessimistic, maybe these things won't happen in the future."

Count Morloll listened to Aven's words and smiled, not knowing whether to laugh at himself or to be genuinely happy.

"I promised you that I would marry Delores, so I would always protect her. If anyone hurts her, I will definitely take revenge on the person who hurt her with all my might. There is nothing negotiable about this." Evan said categorically.

Count Morloll looked at Aven, who had no pretentious expression on his face, as if he had promised from the heart. A relieved smile rose at the corners of his mouth, and the corners of his mouth also raised slightly, "With your words, I am relieved."

After sitting down for a while, Evan was ready to get up and take his leave.

"The knight who promised you before will be enshrined, and it will be held for you in a few days. Help me spend more time with Delores these days and comfort her more." Count Morol whispered.

"I'll keep an eye on Delores." After saying that, Evan left with a lot of thoughts. After leaving the room, Evan let out a long breath and shook his head to see Deloris again.

In the room, Count Morlor's eyes were complicated and pensive, although those words just now, although they were true, he was not a temptation. Thinking back to the gruesome words Seth said in the dungeon, Count Morol felt that if Evan knew about it, he would probably not hesitate to kill everyone.

I am talking to him so much now, don't I just hope that in the future, I am gone, and something will happen again. He can look at himself and Deloris who are already dead, and show mercy to his subordinates, and don't rush to kill them all. As for his sons, Count Morol shook his head, feeling quite helpless in his heart, how could he have given birth to all such sons.

"Huh...... My lord, what should I do now, please help me." After a long time, the Count of Morol let out a wistful sigh.
