Chapter 387: A Storm in the Night
The Great Shipping Route 'New World', an unknown sea.
The night sky was covered with thick clouds, the storm was mixed with silver serpentine lightning, and the sound of thunder even drowned out the sound of the waves. It was a storm capable of overturning a large ship, and the seemingly bad climate could only be described as 'unusual' among the many horrific climate disasters in the New World.
The giant beluga-shaped pirate ship undulates on the rough sea, and the pirate flag painted with the smiling face of the white-bearded skeleton hangs from the mast, the flagship of the Whitebeard Pirates, the Moby Dick!
On the opposite side of this Moby Dick ship is an even larger three-masted pirate ship, which has long since become tattered, and even the pirate flag is gone.
There was a faint flicker of fire in the cabin of the three-masted pirate ship. The members of the Whitebeard Pirates walked through the smoke-filled corridors with weapons in hand, occasionally mending knives to the crew of enemy ships lying on the floor. More of the Whitebeard crew moved through the cabins, carrying a lot of treasure and supplies.
"Where the hell did these guys come from? Seeing the banner of the Whitebeard Pirates, he dared to rush up and shout and kill, he really didn't know whether he was alive or dead. β
Captain Fossa, the 15th Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, was a tall, older-looking man with Mediterranean hair, who carried a long knife that burned with flames, and while talking to his companions, he swung the flaming knife to slash the necks of the enemy ship's crew members who were lying on the floor.
Walking beside Fosa was Thatch, the captain of the fourth team. Dressed in a white chef's uniform and with an exaggerated bombado hairstyle, he was the chief chef of the Whitebeard Pirates, and said with a frown:
"I don't know, but it doesn't matter, there are fewer fools who want to raid our Whitebeard Pirates by taking advantage of the storm and the night? Also, Fosa, be careful with the flame knife in your hand, if you swing a few more knives, the ship will be burned down, and the treasure and supplies will not be carried yet. β
"I see."
Fosa scratched the top of his bare head, and he didn't know what mechanism he pressed to extinguish the flaming long knife in his hand, leaving only a wisp of black smoke floating from the blade.
The unknown pirate ship took advantage of the boundless darkness brought by the storm to sneak up on the rear of the Moby Dick and try to sneak up on it, but the entire sea was illuminated by a sudden flash of lightning in the clouds. What followed was a one-sided slaughter, and the Whitebeard Pirates, despite their emphasis on 'benevolence', were never relentless in the face of their enemies.
The interior of the unknown pirate ship is larger than that of the Moby Dick, and Thatch and Forsa separate before a fork in the corridor. The latter went to give lessons to the recalcitrant sailors of the enemy ships, while the former searched for the hidden enemy from cabin to cabin, and looted for treasure by the way.
Just as Thatch kicked open another door and scanned the hidden objects, a rough laugh came from behind him:
"Thief hahahaha! Thatch! Have you also come here to loot treasures? β
Thatch couldn't help but smile when he heard this laughter, and turned to look behind him, "Aren't you too, Titch." β
In the hallway stood a burly man carrying a wine bottle. He wore a black turban on his head, black fluffy curls that were exposed under the turban and draped over his shoulders, a white shirt and a black coat, his open chest and arms covered with dense hair, two necklaces, different styles of gemstone rings on his fingers, two flintlock pistols pinned to his waist, and a rough and slightly stubble appearance. At this point he looked at Thatch, grinning that several teeth were missing:
"I just want to try my luck here, what if I find something worthwhile?"
"That's right, after all, the rule of the Whitebeard Pirates is that whoever finds the loot goes to whomever he finds."
Thatch teasingly looked at the burly man named 'Titch', "What, there's something you particularly want?" β
"Thief hahahaha! Yes, yes, if you can find some amazing treasures. β
Tiki laughed, shaking the wooden corridor frame, "If you can find a Devil Fruit, you can sell it for a good price!" Now the black market of Devil Fruits has climbed to a high price of 300 million berry. β
Thatch turned to the side and opened the door for Titch to enter, and then began to patrol the house with an oil lamp, and said nonchalantly: "No way, in recent years, people have been pursuing more and more Devil Fruits, trying to replicate the miracle of the murder chain." These people simply don't understand that a 'miracle' is a 'miracle' because it is not replicable. β
Titch curled the corners of his mouth and didn't contradict what his best friend had said, but looked inside the room.
Looking at the dΓ©cor style and the placement of items, it should be the room where the high-ranking people in this nameless pirate group are. Proof of this is the richly decorated fixed table with a large pile of miscellaneous items, the half-spilled inkwell and several ink-stained charts indicating that the owner of the room studied the route and worked out a plan.
The wooden boards erected next to the table were full of wanted notices with thumbtacks, most of which were between 100 million and 400 million bounties, and there were no wanted warrants for the cadres of the Whitebeard Pirates, and there was no plan for this sneak attack on the table. This also shows from the side that the reason why this pirate group took advantage of the storm and night to sneak attack the Whitebeard Pirates was a temporary decision made by being completely carried away by interests.
"This pirate group is quite rich...... Not only is it such a big ship, but the decoration is also very gorgeous. β
Thatch looked at the decoration in the room and said, "It's just that my brain is not very good." β
Titch crouched on the ground and tapped the planks one by one, trying to find the Darkcut: "It's stupid enough. Even the fierce chain and coral don't dare to make a move against the Whitebeard Pirates, but Daddy is the strongest man in the world! Tut...... There's not even a secret compartment, so this can be called a captain's room? β
Thatch put the lamp on the table and pulled through the books stacked beside it: "Some captains like to keep their treasures under their noses, thinking it's safe. Yo, the 62nd issue of "Fiery Female Pirates"? My brother understands it, I want this book. β
"Thief hahaha! Thatch, be careful that the pages stick and you can't turn them. Not to be outdone, Titch crouched down in front of another stack of books and began to rummage through adult magazines.
Thatch gestured his middle finger at Titch, thought for a moment, and then used his thumb and forefinger to pick up the visibly flipped adult magazine in disgust and toss it back into the corner.
When the magazine landed in a corner, it made an unruly crashing sound, which caught Thatch's attention. He walked to the corner of the room with the oil lamp and was shocked to find a black box with matte paint on it.
Thatch crushed the lock on the chest, and when he opened the lid, he was greeted by a purple pineapple covered in a spiral skin of a snail.
Devil Fruits!
