Chapter 23: The Moonlight in Front of the Window

Having achieved his goal, there was no need for Grandin to stay at the Nightwatch's quarters, and after filling out a formal, he took his leave and left.

As he closed the door, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Captain El bending over again, reaching into the drawer under his desk.

By the time he left the station, the gas lights on the side of the road had already been turned on.

These gas lamps are very characteristic of the era, and in order to facilitate ignition, they are only one person high.

The shadow cast by the magnificent St. Samuel Cathedral behind the Beckland Wastewater Treatment Center keeps the street lights on just right.

This reminded him that as a devout believer in the goddess, it seemed a little unreasonable to pass by the church and not enter.

But considering that he hadn't finished reading the two occult books he had brought out of the church last time, and that Bishop Rosen had given him physical training classes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning......

Grandin didn't want to suffer early, he wanted to go straight home now. He believed that the goddess of mercy would surely forgive her followers for their petty irreverence.

Grandin stood on the side of the road waiting for the carriage in a distracted manner.

A sudden gust of wind made him shiver. In a trance, the cruel and ruthless blood-colored eyes of the fierce spirit appeared in front of him.

This is a spiritual warning! Did Roger's control of the evil spirit go wrong?

The Evil Spirit has been so docile under the influence of Roger's resentment that Grandin has almost forgotten that he still has a time bomb hidden in him.

"But how could it suddenly ......"

He thought about it carefully, and finally realized that it was because he had been to too many places today.

The North Side and Queens, where people live in peace and die, rarely have strong negative emotions.

But Joewood is different in that it is a densely populated residential area where all kinds of people live and the dead leave more grievances of death.

I was like a magnet, and after turning around there, I sucked all the resentment that had not yet dissipated into myself.

This sudden turn of events forced him to change his plans.

"I am a devout follower of the goddess."

After he finished speaking, he turned his head and walked firmly towards St. Samuel's Cathedral.

It was a slight departure from the last time he came to church, after performing vespers and throwing 10 gold pounds into the offering box. He showed the Night Watch badge to the priest on duty, thus obtaining a quiet little prayer room.

It was a room reserved for night watchers, and there was no shortage of ritual materials in it, so he arranged the ritual according to the most formal and rigorous steps.

Then he popped the ritual dagger out of his sleeve, letting his spirit gush out of the blade, and he walked clockwise around the room, propping up the spiritual wall.

When the ritual candles were lit and the light mist began to fill, he began to chant in Hermes:

"I pray for the power of the night;"

"I pray for the power of Crimson;"

"I pray for the goddess's favor;"

"Pray for peace and tranquility for the evil spirits that will bring me upon me."

"Night vanilla, herbs belonging to the Red Moon, please pass on the power to my spell!"

"Moonflower, herbs that belong to the red moon, please pass on the power to my spell!"

As soon as the words fell, the Night Maiden Sacred Emblem on the inside of his wrist began to glow slightly, and the candlelight of the candle also echoed Huo Ran's brightening!

Almost instantly, Grandin felt the possessed spirit begin to fall silent and fall into a deep sleep.

"Praise be to the Goddess!" Grantin made four clicks on his chest, depicting the Crimson Moon.

But when he wanted to extinguish the candles in order and end the ceremony, the candles shone brightly again!

The production methods of "Sleep Charm", "Requiem Charm", and "Dream Charm" were all poured into his brain at once without reason.

Even the details include the choice of origin of the manufacturing materials, the optimal proportion of herbal powders, symbols, and the intervals between the corresponding spiritual numbers.

If there is a proficiency display, then he is already at the full level of master in the production of these three kinds of spells.

"I always feel like the goddess is reminding me not to call her if it's okay, but it's also possible that the goddess is showing her favor to me. Now there are too few samples to compare, maybe it can be ......"

Grandin thought as he wrapped up the ceremony.

Now that he had arrived at the church, Grandin stopped by to visit his teacher. He happened to have a couple of questions about ritual magic that he wanted to ask his teacher for.

Through the past few days of study, he found that the essence of most ritual magic is to pray for strength and help from those high-ranking beings. There is very little ritual magic that relies only on itself or spiritual materials. Hasn't anyone studied this aspect?

Ritual magic, as an extraordinary ability that ordinary people can master, seems to be overlooked by everyone.

When Grandin found Bishop Rosen, he was soaking his feet in the common room.

"Strictly speaking, all magic that does not pass through the Seven Gods is black magic, and this includes ritual magic, of course. The Wild Extraordinary will probably go to the research...... Of course, it is more likely that they will go out of control, and extraordinary power is never a gift. ”

The old man picked up the linen and began to wipe his feet, and the old god glanced at Grandin on the ground before he continued:

"And ritual magic has requirements for space and materials, and it's not a particularly convenient ability, it requires too long to prepare. And the extraordinary are always in a race against time, and I think you know what I'm talking about. ”

Grandin's answer was silence.

The extraordinary must run, either 'eat people' or 'be eaten', and this is no exception to him.

After saying goodbye to the old man, he came to the night watchman's residence again.

As Captain El frantically cleaned up his desk, he swept away all of the Captain's inventory of talisman-related quota materials.

Anyway, the captain is the 'nightmare' of sequence 7, and his own abilities coincide with these three spells, and it is a waste to put the materials away. Of course, he also paid for the materials in full, after all, he is not a villain.

Seafood risotto made by Cosette in the evening...... At least it's cooked.

After the meal, as usual, it was time to study, and thanks to the previous accumulation of the original body, Grandin was learning Gufsak at a rapid pace, and he planned to continue learning the Giant's language once he had mastered it thoroughly.

Studying made him feel the pure joy of facing a new world, and made him forget for a moment the pressure and horror he faced in reality.

After Cosette returned to his room to rest, he went to the attic to try his first charm.

Eventually, he decided to turn the basement into a wine cellar, and the whole house was left unused in the attic, and eventually it became a workshop.

The spells were made very smoothly, but he only tried out one of each. The spirituality of low-level charms will slowly decay over time, up to two weeks at most.

There's no need to do too much at once.

After sitting in front of the window and quietly drinking a cup of tea in front of Scarlet Moon, he also went back to the bedroom to rest.
