Chapter 57: The Cafe
"Ms. Sissi, I told you to exercise more often!"
Hugh also seemed to be struck by his companion's waste-like athleticism. In the midst of heartache, the triangular thorn in her hand unconsciously poked forward.
Grandin hurriedly stepped aside. But this action immediately alerted Hugh, who thought he was going to run away, so he grabbed his arm even harder.
The triangular thorns were glued tighter, and Grandin thought his formal suit was definitely scratched.
He could only reluctantly suggest:
"Miss Furth, if you can make your companion more relaxed, I'll be happy to help you up."
Firth's face froze, and she held out her hand to Grandin in resignation.
This is Miss Magician.
Grandin gently pulled Folth to his feet.
Under Hugh's command, Grandin offered his other arm for them to hold on to their left and right. He still had a cane and a suitcase in his hand, like a Christmas tree, and it was very hard.
But the passers-by around didn't think so, and they looked at Grandin like they were looking at a scumbag.
After a long period of exercise, he ignored people's misconceptions and walked into the café around the corner without changing his face.
The café is very minimalist, with beech tables and long sofas, and semi-enclosed booths that make it perfect for conversation.
There was a brass bell in the corner of the table, and next to it was a menu, and there were no waiters to disturb it, which may be why Hugh chose to 'interrogate' here.
Grandin was seated by the window, and on the windowsill was a pot of greenery, the verdant leaves of which were very lovely. But the girls at the table with him weren't so cute.
Foirth sat across from him with his hands on his chest, his blue eyes half-narrowed, the corners of his mouth pursed. Hugh sat down next to him, put his hand into his arms, and confiscated his revolver.
In the center of the hall came the cheerful sound of the violins, which did not match the heavy air of the table.
In order to lighten the mood, Grandin reached for the menu, but was stopped by Hugh with a stern look.
Foirth got the menu ostentatiously, her expression very proud, but she had barely flipped a few pages before she began to babble.
"A cup of coffee here is enough for me to have a good meal!"
She looked pale and was about to put down the menu when she heard the man say—
"Ladies, I'm honored to pay for you, but I only brought 100 gold pounds with me when I went out today, so please be merciful."
Foirth gritted his teeth and ordered all his favorite snacks.
Wait for the coffee and snacks to be served before they start talking. Hugh had just accepted the 'bribe', and Hugh was too embarrassed to point it at him again.
Grandin was finally free.
They ordered the shop's most famous black coffee, but it was a bit bitter, and Grandin added a piece of sugar to it.
"How did you find me?"
This was what he wondered the most, his instincts had never broken since he became a 'monster'. He didn't think anyone would be able to track him when the sequence gap wasn't too big, and his itinerary today was random, and there was no possibility of being squatted.
"Hmph, your 'back-to-back' little story isn't bad."
Furth twisted a piece of cheese with a disdainful expression, but her legs twisted unnaturally as she spoke. She wouldn't admit that she was scared to go to the bathroom.
"You were in that literary salon at the time?"
Grandin understood immediately. Because going to the literary salon was his temporary idea, he only used a pseudonym and did not disguise his appearance. Maybe Hugh told Folth about his appearance yesterday, and today he was caught by them.
"But I have to say that you are moving quickly, Miss Furth. I've only been in the salon for just over an hour, and you'll be able to bring your companions over and ambush me. ”
He complimented.
"That's because I'm so good at moving around the city."
Forth almost singled out his identity as an extraordinary, and there was a warning in his words.
After Hugh told her what had happened to her yesterday, Forthth wanted to find a time to meet the night watchman and avoid his good friend being bluffed.
But now it seems that this man's style is quite decent.
"Oh, Ms. Forth is actually an 'apprentice'?"
Grandin asked, feigning surprise.
"Why are you ......?" said Fowl, who stopped in the middle of the question. Opposite her was a regular night watchman, not like a wild and extraordinary person like her. They certainly have detailed sequence information inside.
She thought for a moment and continued:
"Since you know my abilities, you should know that if you provoke me, no matter where you hide, I will find you! Then ......"
In order to increase her persuasiveness, she viciously, as if she was about to pinch someone's head, and crushed the butter cookies in her hand.
Grandin's threat to her is unheard, and he now wants to make a deal:
"Ms. Forthth, I happen to have a copy of the master material for 'Master of Tricks' here, do you need it?"
"Do you have the potion recipe for the Master of Tricks?" Furth asked reservedly, but the glint of longing in her eyes didn't hide it from Grandin.
"I didn't."
He replied honestly.
"Then how can you be sure that your share of master material is that of the 'master trick master'."
Disappointment flashed in Forth's eyes.
"Because that 'master of tricks' was killed by my own hands. Have you ever heard of the extraordinary trait Immortality? The precipitates of the Extraordinary after death are the main ingredient in potions formulations. ”
Grandin's expression was sunny and his smile was kind.
Furth craned his neck and looked at Hugh with a sad face.
Receiving his friend's call for help, Hugh immediately coughed with majesty.
Grandin put on an open face.
"Mr. Grandin, we invited you here today to find you to cooperate."
Hugh's face remained unchanged, and she regretted a little in her heart that she had listened to Firth's nonsense, saying that 'it needs to be tested', and what 'crisis best reflects a person's true character'.
"Kidnapping to invite me to cooperate?" Grandin was surprised.
What is this brain circuit?
"The crisis is the best way to see a person's true character! We're going to test you out before we can decide if we want to work with you! ”
Hugh stared at him unblinkingly with those deep emerald eyes, as if she wanted to use her powerful aura to make Grandin admit it.
"That's what the books say!"
Furth followed out as if offended.
"Crisis ......"
Grandin recalls the faint reminder he had at the time, and he thought it was a spirit reminding him to be careful when crossing the road......
"That's right, my composure in the face of crisis is enough to prove my reliability!"
The three people in the booth reached a consensus.
