Chapter 34: Jim's Growth
Glerint remembers that the day Jim the little mouse was born in the basement was Sunday evening, the third day after Glerint's crossing.
The date of that day was December 8th, and almost at the same time as he was born, Jim devoured the extraordinary traits of the "Trickster".
On the 15th, Gleilynt began teaching Jim Ruhn every night.
On the 17th, Jim began to eat crumbs of greens and soaked rice, and gradually began to wean. On the same day, Gleilint regained the "mania of the erudite", and the progress of learning increased rapidly.
On the 20th, Jim opened his eyes, revealing a small shrewdness. In addition, he had enough mobility to begin crawling around in the larger nest prepared by Gleilint and began to eat oatmeal and beans.
Of course, he was not completely weaned at this time.
On the 23rd, Jim was no longer satisfied with the pit the size of a pot lid, but crawled out of the room to explore the new world.
On the same day, he learned the first Rune word, "Hello," which he did not speak with the human tongue, tongue, and lips, but by exhaling directly and vibrating the air.
In just six days, Jim had learned almost all of Rune and was able to communicate with Glerint normally. In addition, he was completely weaned and began to feed on cereals and vegetables.
By this time, Jim's fur was more perfect, a slightly lighter earthy yellow than his mother's brownish fur, not the bright yellow of a yellow mouse.
Interestingly, Jim doesn't have a good grasp of his extraordinary abilities and often uses them subconsciously.
For example, one day when Glerint reached out to tease him, he unknowingly stole Glerint's "Ring of Law".
It wasn't until Gleilynt suddenly discovered that the ring had fallen off the next day, and in a hurry, he couldn't help but use "change" for divination, only to find out that the ring had been stolen by this little guy.
And when Jim found out that Glerint had used gold coins to find what he had stolen, this guy went even further, and he directly stole Glerint's divination gold coins......
However, this time Glerint quickly realized who was playing a prank, and directly arrested the perpetrator and made him hand over the gold coins.
In addition, thanks to the speed and agility of the "Swindler" potion, Jim's already flexible body is now even faster, and Glerint can't catch him if he doesn't know how to use magical items.
In other words, it is impossible for a human extraordinary person to catch a "swindler" rat with his bare hands in the low sequence.
The little mouse is quite mischievous, which makes Grelint, who is familiar with the character of a bear child who knows how the "thief" passes, a certain worry.
However, little Jim actually has no malicious intentions, and his actions are all out of fun......
If it is found that Gleilint is really angry, Jim will stand in front of him like a child who has made a mistake, and let him count and educate, which makes Gleilint often reluctantly scolds him.
"It's called 'a loving mother and a more defeated child'!"
"But I am neither a loving mother, nor Jim nor my child."
With a heartfelt complaint, Glerint was going to attend the last extraordinary party of the year today.
Today is December 30, the last day of 1348, and it is also Monday.
At the last meeting, there was a discussion, considering that some of the members of the party may be landed nobles, or some members who are dependent on the landed aristocracy. From January to May of the following year, none of these members were allowed to attend the meetings.
Therefore, it is recommended that everyone go as much as possible this time to meet each other's trading needs as much as possible.
With the danger of the Extraordinary, maybe some of the members will never appear again in half a year......
"What? Are you going too? No, no, no! ”
Looking at Jim's clever little eyes, Glerint subconsciously shook his head again and again.
"Why? Gleilint. ”
Jim's voice was like that of a young boy who hadn't changed his voice yet.
"I'm going to hang out!" The earthy yellow figure suddenly scurried to Gleilint's right shoulder, with the intention of never coming down.
Now Jim's movements were so fast that Glerint couldn't see clearly.
Why? Gleilint was also asking himself why.
There were many reasons why Jim wouldn't go, but there was only one reason why he was allowed to go, and that was that he wanted to go!
Speaking of which, Jim hasn't left the mansion since he was born!
"Well, if you promise not to cause me trouble, I'll agree to let you go!" He raised his left hand and stroked Jim's fur and said.
"Don't speak, don't take the initiative to use extraordinary abilities!"
At present, Jim has only one extraordinary ability that requires his own spirituality to wield, and that is "psychic interference", which can create illusions to deceive opponents.
However, Glerint hadn't seen Jim use it, and he didn't know if he wouldn't use it or if he hadn't remembered.
As for others, such as the "Thief" in Sequence 9, the corresponding skills "Steal", "Agile Hand", and "Superior Observation".
and the improvement of "charm" and "eloquence" corresponding to the "cheater" in sequence eight.
These are physical and intellectual improvements, and although they are extraordinary abilities, they do not require their own spirituality to use.
"Okay, I'll promise you."
Jim quickly agreed, and even Glerint wondered if he had just heard what he had said.
While it wasn't a big deal to let the other party members know that they had an extraordinary animal, Glellint kept Jim in his pocket, considering that Mr. Joffrey would be attending the party today.
You are only allowed to hear, you are not allowed to speak, and you are not allowed to move.
According to Glerint's understanding of the original book, the difficulty of raising extraordinary animals is actually mainly a lack of money.
The second is that ordinary animals are not easy to absorb potions well, and they are easy to lose control and become monsters.
Of course, if you're rich enough, the second difficulty can also be solved by trying multiple potions purchases, provided you can take out the out-of-control monsters.
There don't seem to be many normal and extraordinary animals mentioned in the original book.
The one that impressed Glerint the most was Miss Audrey's golden retriever Susie, but it seems that he has not had a chance to meet Susie the utopian dog now.
The reason why she didn't lose control and become a monster may be because she is relatively large and can withstand the power of potions.
But that doesn't explain why Harry, the fat pharmacist, Duckwell's parrot, didn't get out of control.
For this, Glerint remembered that Harry had not lost control thanks to Darkwell's status as an "animal trainer".
Obviously, though, neither of these reasons applies to Jim.
Gleilynt remembered that when Jim's mother died, the rate of precipitation of the extraordinary properties was extremely abnormal, too fast.
So he guessed it might have something to do with Jim's mom.
Of course, it is also possible that the characteristics of potions and animals are more compatible?
After all, don't rats like to steal......
"What are you thinking? Gleilint. ”
Probably due to physical limitations, Jim's voice is relatively quiet.
So even if Jim speaks next to his ear, he doesn't feel too loud.
"I wonder if I want you to learn a mysterious language."
Then he remembered that Jim didn't seem to have been exposed to the occult language, and added:
"That's the language I use to use this ring."
Glerint raised his right hand to show the Ring of Command, then grabbed Jim and put him in his pocket.
"I want to learn! I want to learn! ”
Jim snapped, then shouted excitedly.
Gleilynt ignored him.
Ever since he couldn't catch Jim, the Ring of Discipline had become the only way he could stop Jim from being naughty.
The two ancient Hermes that he is most familiar with now are:
"Stealing is forbidden here!" and "No escape here!" ”
If he had learned the ancient Hermetic language for Jim, he might have stolen Glerinth's ring, and he might have been able to hide it.
Jim was indeed a little too naughty, which forced Glerint to keep a means of restricting him.
