Chapter Ninety-One: Saving the Scene in the Line of Fire
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, on this good day to celebrate the Spring Festival, Chen Han, who had only been home for eleven days, returned to work with a backpack.
Fortunately, it's not just those who engage in archaeology who will not have a holiday during the Spring Festival.
Even on the first day of the Lunar New Year, the high-speed rail will not be suspended.
Compared with the public service industry, the archaeology industry, which has not encountered a Spring Festival overtime for several years, is still insignificant.
It is on this special day that there are basically not many people taking the high-speed train.
When Chen Han stepped on the G2540 train, which departed at two o'clock in the afternoon, there were only three passengers in the carriage he was in.
With him, there are four people in total.
Well, except for Chen Han, the other three didn't have any good faces.
Even two of them were tapping on the screen on their laptops to communicate meetings.
It seems that they are all hard workers who are still busy with work on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
Only Chen Han sat down by the window after getting in the car, and the smile on his face couldn't be stopped.
There's another grave to dig up, yes!
For him, it is better to spend the lonely and boring Spring Festival at home alone, so it is better to take advantage of this festive day to spend it with his colleagues in the institute.
Going back to the archaeological site felt like coming home.
The feeling inside the construction site is much better than at home!
It's boring to be alone at home, without friends, and girlfriends to play with.
It's not like everyone in the office is talented, and they speak well, so I really like to stay with everyone.
As for whether other colleagues in the institute want to work on this day when the country celebrates the Spring Festival, it is not something for Chen Han to consider.
Anyway, this year he is happy to end the vacation early.
......
A few hours later, before it was completely dark, Chen Han arrived in Suizhou, Hubei.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, don't expect to get a taxi or ride-hailing.
Fortunately, the Suizhou government has long been prepared, and as soon as Chen Han left the station, he was taken to the parking lot by a civil servant in the city.
A bus specially came to pick up the personnel of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and was waiting for him.
"Oh, Senior Brother Zhuang, Happy Spring Festival!"
"Senior Sister Su, I haven't seen you for ten days, I miss it very much!"
"Xiao Wang, why do you have a bitter face, be happy during the Spring Festival!"
"Researcher Chen, I heard that you are taking advantage of the vacation to go home and get engaged? Congratulations! ”
As soon as he got in the car, Chen Han found that they were all old acquaintances.
Basically, the thirty or so people who followed Kong Jianwen from Qinghai to Jingzhou have almost arrived.
He also exchanged a few words of greeting with a few colleagues who knew him well.
It's just that the expressions on everyone's faces are not very "happy", only the smile on Chen Han's face is bright.
"Ahem."
Kong Jianwen, who was sitting in the first row, saw that Chen Han had also arrived, and after his eyes motioned for him to find a random place to sit down, he stood up and said:
"Okay, except for the four colleagues who have some temporary things and can't come back today, everyone is here."
"Thank you for your hard work, and on the important day of the first day of the Lunar New Year, you have to rush back to work."
Kong Jianwen showed a little apology on his face.
This made everyone present embarrassed to put on an unhappy face again.
The big guys have expressed their apologies, and if everyone puts on a shelf again, it will be a bit of a loss of face for Director Kong.
Zhuang Yunpeng, who had lost his soul just now and was like a walking corpse, immediately resurrected with full blood, and shouted very dogleggedly: "It's not hard! ”
"At my age, I have to endure hardships and struggle! If the teacher has any tasks, just tell me! ”
It's a pity that Kong Jianwen ignored him at all, and just continued to explain with a calm face: "The reason why I suddenly interrupted everyone's vacation and recalled everyone." ”
"It's because something big happened here in Suizhou!"
Kong Jianwen explained slowly.
It turned out that the archaeological institute here in Suizhou seemed to be lucky at the end of the year.
First, on December 28, the villagers of Yejiashan dug up fifteen bronzes when they leveled the land.
Later, the director of the Hubei Institute of Archaeology personally led people to the scene to investigate and found that the fifteen bronzes came from two stolen tombs.
After that, the Hubei Institute immediately carried out rescue excavations on the two remnant tombs, and carried out exploration in the Yejiashan area.
This exploration directly explored a Western Zhou family cemetery, and even one of the highest specifications and largest Western Zhou tombs in the Jianghan region and even the Yangtze River Basin!
According to the results of the exploration, the entire cemetery is 150 meters long and 100 meters wide, with an area of 15,000 square meters.
Among them, there are 10 large tombs, 5 medium-sized tombs, and 50 small tombs.
In fact, if things only come to this point, it has nothing to do with the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Although this Western Zhou cemetery is not small, the local area of Suizhou and the archaeological strength of Hubei Institute are enough to complete the excavation and rescue work of this cemetery.
It's just that coincidentally, in March 2018, with the approval of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, a joint archaeological team composed of Hubei Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Peking University School of Archaeology and Museums, Suizhou Museum, Zeng, Du and District archaeological teams carried out excavation work on the Zaoshulin cemetery.
Zaoshulin cemetery, also in Suizhou, belongs to the Yidigang tomb group, and the tombs of two Zeng Marquis were excavated in 1979.
Later, the Suizhou archaeological team conducted a comprehensive exploration of this area and unearthed 86 tombs of the Spring and Autumn Zengguo.
Over the past few decades, the Suizhou and even Hubei Archaeological Institutes have been working to excavate the cemetery.
Finally, under the pretext of finding the most complete feudal system of the Zhou Dynasty and building a bronze cultural ruler in the Jianghan region, the excavation approval was finally obtained.
Starting in March, archaeologists from the School of Archaeology and Museums of Peking University will join most of the staff of the Hubei Institute of Archaeology to excavate the Zaoshulin cemetery.
Now there is suddenly another Yejiashan tomb group, and it is a tomb group that has been stolen and urgently needs rescue excavation.
The archaeological strength of Hubei is simply too late to deal with these two large-scale Eastern and Western Zhou aristocratic tombs at the same time!
Moreover, the things that made them "lucky" are not over yet!
Then, on January 12th, next to the Zaoshulin cemetery, in the engineering construction area of Suizhou Wenfeng Pagoda Community, the staff who conducted preliminary exploration also found a large tomb group...
In fact, there are precedents for this.
In 2009, the Wenfeng Pagoda community once discovered a burial area from the late Spring and Autumn Period to the Eastern Han Dynasty.
Several tombs found at that time were stolen by tomb robbers, and the Suizhou archaeological team carried out rescue excavations and unearthed some cultural relics.
This year, to be precise, at the end of 2018, the houses in the Wenfeng Pagoda community were demolished due to real estate development.
Real estate developers are ready to build new communities in this area.
In the case of a criminal record underground, the Suizhou Archaeological Institute naturally wants to carry out large-scale archaeological exploration of the plot to ensure that there are no large-scale tombs underground.
As a result, this exploration found a tomb group of more than 66 tombs, and many of them are large, dating from the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period.
It is another aristocratic cemetery in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty...
The Yejiashan tomb group visited by tomb robbers.
It took twenty or thirty years for the Hubei Institute of Archaeology to apply for the jujube grove cemetery that could be actively excavated.
In addition, the real estate developer has bought it and is ready to build a high-rise Wenfeng Pagoda cemetery.
All of them are large tombs of the nobles of the Eastern and Western Zhou Dynasty that are in urgent need of excavation and cannot be delayed!
The Hubei Institute of Archaeology, and even the archaeologists of the Institute of Archaeology and Museums of Peking University, are not busy at all!
There is no way, and the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences can only come to the line of fire to save the scene.
