Chapter One Hundred and Seven "Professor, I've Realized!"

"Why is Zeng called Sui?"

Lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling with blank eyes, Chen Han tossed and turned, still unable to sleep.

It's five o'clock in the morning.

After completing the interpretation of the first two inscriptions, Professor Li disbanded the working group, blasted everyone out of the cultural relics storage room, and let them go back to the dormitory to rest.

But Chen Han, who returned to the dormitory, couldn't sleep.

As soon as he closed his eyes, his mind was full of questions about the "mystery of the past".

In fact, when he said his guess, but there was no hint in his mind that the task was completed, he knew that he had not solved this mysterious mystery.

How can a question that has plagued the historiography and archaeology community for fifty years be so easy to figure out.

In fact, with the existing archaeological discoveries, there is already countless evidence that Zeng Sui was a country.

However, these pieces of evidence are all side evidence, and there is no ironclad evidence that is sufficient.

There is no way to explain why all the excavated bronzes of Zeng Guo have inscriptions clearly written "Zeng" and "Zeng Hou", and none of the words are related to "Sui".

In books such as "Zuo Biography" and "Historical Records", the vassal state recorded is Suiguo.

The old biography of "Zuo Chuan" was written by Zuo Qiu Ming in the Spring and Autumn Period, and modern scholars believe that it was compiled in the middle of the Warring States Period.

But whether it was written in the Spring and Autumn Period or the Warring States Period, Zeng Guo should still exist at that time.

In 433 B.C., when Zeng Hou Yi died, the three families had been divided, and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty had entered the Warring States period.

And Zeng Hou Yi's funeral goods are so luxurious, which shows that Zeng Guo was still in a very strong period at that time, at least not on the verge of extinction.

The historian who wrote "Zuo Biography", even if he has not personally experienced the Zeng State, it is definitely not far from the demise of the Zeng State.

Since he has always called the princely state surnamed Ji in "Zuo Biography", he called Sui.

If Zeng Guo is indeed Suiguo, there is only one possibility, that is, the people of Zeng Guo call the monarch Zeng Marquis, but they call themselves Suiren and Everywhere to the outside world.

The name of the place here is the name of the place, not the name of the country.

For example, the place where the Jin State is located is called the Jin Land, the land of the Qin State is called the Qin Land, and the land of the Chu State is called the Chu Land.

But Zeng Guo did not take the usual path, and Zeng Guo called his own fiefdom not Zengdi, but everywhere.

This led to outsiders calling Zeng Guo Suiguo.

This makes sense.

After all, the name of the country in "Zuo Chuan" rarely uses "X country", and it is usually referred to by single-word place names, such as Qin, Zhao, Wei, and Han.

The titles of kings are "so-and-so marquis", "so-and-so king" and "so-and-so duke".

For example, "Zuo Chuan: The Sixth Year of Duke Huan": "King Wu of Chu invaded and followed, so that Xue Zhang sought success, the army treated it with flaws, and followed the young master Dong Cheng." ”

The translation of this sentence is:

King Wu of Chu invaded everywhere and sent Xue Zhang to ask for peace, and the army was stationed in the flawed land, waiting for negotiations, and Suiguo sent a young master Dong Cheng to preside over the negotiations.

The "flaw" here is a place name, and "Sui" can be translated into Suiguo or anywhere.

Most of the records about Sui in the "Zuo Chuan" have no problem translating Sui into Anywhere.

Only once specifically mentioned the word "Suiguo", "Suiguo, surnamed Ji." ”

Suppose Zeng Guo is the place where he lives and calls it Everywhere, not Zengdi.

In this way, it makes sense to call them "Sui" and "Suiren" in history books such as "Zuo Chuan".

Because Zeng Hou himself called the territory under his rule anywhere!

Just like after the Han Dynasty, most Chinese people called themselves Han people, and called the land of China Han soil.

Including the official dynasty, they often refer to the land under their rule as Han land.

This did not affect the fact that the actual dynasties at that time were already Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing......

The more he thought about it, the more Chen Han felt that this guess seemed more reasonable.

This can also explain why "Suizhou" is called Suizhou, and after the fall of the Zeng State, why the Zeng Guo clan changed their surnames to Sui.

Because the place where the Marquis of Zeng ruled, the place where they lived for generations, is called anywhere!

As for why it's called Sui?

You must know that Zeng Guo was sealed to Handong back then, and he was airborne!

The first Marquis Zeng obeyed the orders of King Wu and brought an army from the Central Plains to conquer this land where the Han River and Xia River meet.

Thinking of this, Chen Han immediately got up from the bed, turned on the computer, logged in to the official archaeological platform, and began to search for the historical archaeological achievements in Suizhou.

Sure enough, he soon found a record.

In 1958, also in Zengdu-District, SZ City, a site from the Neolithic to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty was discovered!

This site is about 140 meters long from east to west and 120 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of nearly 20,000 square meters!

The main culture is the Shang and Zhou periods!

There are complete cities and moats!

The location is very close to the excavation site of Wenfeng Tower, and it belongs to the same administrative district!

This shows that there were people settled here in Suizhou at least in the Neolithic period, and it lasted until the Shang and Zhou dynasties!

Before Nangong Shi was sealed to Suizhou, there was already civilization here.

Moreover, according to the Shang Dynasty oracle bone inscriptions, there was once a person surnamed Zeng Guo in the Han River Basin!

Maybe in the Shang Dynasty, this place was called "Sui"!

The Ji surname Zeng Guo divided in the Zhou Dynasty may have been established on the basis of annexing this Ji surname Zeng Guo!

After the annexation of the Shang Dynasty's surname Zengguo, the Zhou Dynasty's Ji surname Zengguo continued to use the merchant's name for this place: "Sui"!

In this way, it can explain why the surname Ji Zeng Guo called his territory everywhere.

Because Ji's surname Zeng Guo was originally an outsider, he relied on force to conquer the place, and then settled here!

Although the upper class of nobles and the army came from Ji Zhou in the Central Plains.

But the lower-class people they ruled were all natives who were born and raised here, and they were citizens of the country surnamed Zeng.

In the eyes of these locals, this place has always been called!

When Chen Han figured it all out, the sky was already clear.

Go to bed? Sleep a fart!

No sleepiness at all!

Even because he clarified his thoughts, Chen Han was full of energy and radiant.

"Senior Brother Zhuang, it's dawn!"

"I'm digging at the construction site!"

"Don't sleep!"

After closing the laptop with a "snap" and waking up Zhuang Yunpeng, who was sleeping like a pig, Chen Han rushed out of the door with the computer, anxious to share his guesses and opinions with Professor Li.

Zhuang Yunpeng, who had a hangover all night, opened his red eyes, looked at the back of Chen Han leaving in a hurry, and vaguely felt as if he had missed something important.

Outside the door.

Chen Han, who was about to walk to Professor Li's room, had not walked a few steps before he was greeted by Professor Li who was about to come to him.

The two glanced at each other and saw that the other party hadn't slept all night.

"Professor Li, I've come to my senses!" Chen Han took the first step to speak.

"Enlightened? What did you realize? Professor Li was a little puzzled.

However, he immediately put this sentence behind him, pulled Chen Han and walked to the cultural relics storage room.

As he walked, he also said: "There are still so many inscriptions waiting to be translated and interpreted, I can't sleep at all, and I read another paragraph overnight!" ”

"I didn't expect to decipher an informative inscription!"

"Go, follow me!"

"The mystery can be solved!"

"Huh?!" Chen Han turned his head to look at Professor Li in astonishment.

Has the mystery been solved?

So why didn't I get the system prompt?

Professor Li has solved this problem, can I complete the task?
