Chapter 139: Another Journey Ends

The Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, don't want to dig it.

The reason for the demise of Zeng Guo cannot be found for the time being.

From winter to the end of summer.

In half a year, the three high-level tombs of Wenfeng Tower, Yejiashan and Jujube Forest were basically excavated.

There are nearly 200 tombs in total, spanning from the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of the Warring States Period, which greatly enriches modern China's understanding of this ancient Western Zhou Dynasty.

In addition, the sum of the three major tomb groups has been found after the middle of the Warring States period, and even the tombs of the Han, Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties.

All cleaned up and backfilled.

In the Wenfeng Pagoda cemetery alone, a total of more than 2,000 cultural relics have been unearthed.

The three major tomb groups combined, a total of nearly 10,000 cultural relics have been unearthed.

Most of these cultural relics belong to Zeng Guo, and a small part is from later eras, which greatly enriches the collection of local museums in Suizhou.

And this city with the name of "Sui" can finally rely on the cultural relics unearthed underground, and truly have the vein of an ancient country.

With the end of the excavation, the Suizhou Museum has also entered the stage of renovation.

The newly prepared "Zeng (Sui) Guo Exhibition Hall" is also being prepared urgently.

Even the Suizhou Museum plans to take the cultural relics unearthed from the three major tomb groups to make a national touring exhibition, starting with the Capital Museum, and preparing to hold a touring exhibition in at least six places across the country within two years.

Of course, the Suizhou Museum has not escaped "borrowing cultural relics".

On the side of the National Museum, after learning that the bronze Ge that proved that it had been a country was unearthed, and the bell of the battle of Wu Chu was recorded, and the light halberd of the prince of Wu was unearthed, he immediately smelled the smell and rushed to Suizhou.

I plan to bring these cultural relics to the National Museum first to do a "Mumu Zenghou - Zeng Guo Unearthed Bronze Special Exhibition"!

As for whether these cultural relics will be returned after this exhibition is completed, it is not known.

However, Chen Han thinks it should be returned.

Although these bronzes unearthed in the Zeng Kingdom are very important to prove the existence of the Zeng Kingdom and the history of the Shuoyuan Zeng Kingdom.

But Zeng Guo said that it was a small vassal state in the Eastern and Western Zhou periods, and it was not the protagonist of that era.

To be honest, the National Museum should not be worth it.

At the very least, it has to be a cultural relic of the level of Zeng Hou Yi's bell, so that the National Museum can be excited.

The bell of Zeng Hou Yi was also unearthed in Suizhou.

But it didn't fall into the hands of the Suizhou Museum.

It was the Hubei Museum and the National Museum that competed for this cultural relic, and the two sides tore it for a long time, and finally the Hubei Museum won the bell of Zeng Hou Yi with a geographical advantage.

As for the local Suizhou Museum, there is no right to fight for it at all.

However, now these bronzes, chariots and horses, and jade of Zeng Guo can stay in the Suizhou Museum, which greatly increases the attractiveness of the Suizhou Museum.

In a prefecture-level city, bronzes are rarely found in the collection.

Especially in those provinces and cities that were still in the "wild land" during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were not many bronzes unearthed.

For example, in Chen Han's hometown of Fujian, there are only some collections in museums in many cities, which can be traced back to the Tang and Qing dynasties.

Utensils like chimes, tripods, and guis are simply not possible.

Now Suizhou, a small city in Hubei, can have such a number of systematic bronze ritual exhibitions from scholars to doctors to monarchs.

I couldn't be more satisfied.

The archaeological team of Suizhou Museum, which participated in the excavation of Yejiashan cemetery, has never seen a smile on its face from the beginning to the end of the excavation.

When I met people, I said: "Thank you for your contribution to Suizhou archaeology!" ”

That's called a joy.

......

June 26, 2019.

Wenfeng Pagoda Cemetery.

Originally, there were potholes, and the probes of different sizes have been backfilled one after another.

The real estate developer, who had been suspended for half a year, was finally able to restart, directing the construction team and construction vehicles to carry out the foundation leveling work.

It is erected in a mobile board house next to the construction site.

The staff of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences are also busy packing their bags and preparing to leave here.

The past six months have been a bumper harvest for everyone.

There are really too many tombs.

Sixty-six tombs, on average, have more than two tombs for each person.

If one tomb is used as a paper, then at least two papers can be produced.

Not to mention that there are many of the unearthed artifacts of the tombs, which are enough to open a single paper.

For example, according to the unearthed chariots and horses, let's talk about the difference between the chariots of Zeng Guo and the chariots of the princes of the Central Plains.

According to the unearthed pottery, let's talk about the pottery style of Zeng Guo.

According to the social status of the tomb owner and the burial utensils, talk about the ritual system of Zeng Guo and the social productive forces.

Chen Han, who was trained by Kong Jianwen, also wrote three important papers.

These three papers are respectively based on the topics of "The First Seal of the Zeng State", "The Change from the Left and Right Civil and Military to the Left and Right Chu Kings in the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zeng State", and "The Submission and Loneliness of the Zeng State".

After roughly combing through the vassal states surnamed Ji of the Western Zhou Dynasty, which has been enclosed for 700 years, the history revealed by archaeological evidence can be examined.

To put it bluntly.

These three papers, once published, will become a must-read paper for future scholars when studying "Zeng Guo"!

I dare not say that the history of Zeng Guo from an archaeological point of view is 100% correct, but the chance of error is definitely smaller than that of written records!

From Kong Jianwen's point of view, Chen Han's three papers are fully enough to cope with doctoral graduation.

Take out a dissertation directly from it to do the doctoral defense, and you can pass the test.

However, Kong Jianwen did not give Chen Han the idea of graduating in advance.

He was only a freshman this year, and he was lucky enough to encounter the excavation of a large tomb group in Zeng, which gave him the opportunity to study this subject, which is considered unpopular and rare in the field of historical documents and archaeology.

Although the level of several dissertations can meet the standards of doctoral dissertations.

But his studies haven't kept up.

Not to mention anything else, Chen Han has not yet taken the theoretical knowledge courses specially offered by the Academy of Social Sciences for graduate students and doctoral students.

Field archaeology is an empirical science.

Unlike physics, mathematics and other disciplines, some super-smart scholars, as long as they are smart enough, can complete their Ph.D. in one or two years, solve physics and mathematics problems, and reach the top in one step.

However, the so-called theoretical knowledge course of archaeology is actually to teach the experience of predecessors in field archaeology to newcomers.

This is something that must be learned, and it is impossible for anyone to be born with it without learning it.

Even if there is an ancestral tomb robbery craft in the family, it will not work.

It's like studying medicine, no matter how well you write your graduation thesis, you can't graduate if you don't finish the course content and don't reach a certain level of theoretical and practical knowledge!

So after the excavation project of Wenfeng Pagoda is over, the first thing Chen Han will do when he returns to the capital is to return to the campus and go to class!

He has to take at least two years of coursework, and then Kong Jianwen will prepare him for his graduation defense.

Of course, if a new excavation project occurs during the class, Chen Han still has to follow the instructor around.

This is learned, and there are others!
