Chapter 424: Staying at the Universe Hotel
After a day's flight, we came to Moscow.
Although it was also a harsh winter in Moscow at the end of January, the climate was much milder than in Irkutsk, where the ground was freezing and the weather was cold. The temperature difference here is very small, and the temperature at night is even higher than in Beijing.
I think that the same increase as the temperature is Mr. Wang's mood. She looked at the bustling street scene outside the car window with some excitement and said to me:
- "Linna, I think I'm really here in Russia this time!" Moscow can represent Russia. ”
- "That's true, you're right, Moscow is the heart of Russia, Petersburg can be counted as the soul of Russia, and the real Russia will not be seen without two cities here." I replied
- "Hmm! Mr. Wang smiled and looked out the window, nodding in agreement.
The taxi pulled us to the Cosmos hotel.
When I got out of the car and saw the familiar and famous statue in front of the building, I had the illusion that I had never left Moscow.
For the Moscow "Cosmos" hotel, friends who have been abroad to Moscow should have heard of it.
The Cosmos Moscow Hotel is very large, with more than 20 floors and 1,777 rooms. There are more than a dozen very special restaurants in the hotel, which I used to frequent.
In front of the hotel building stands a statue of Charles de Gaulle.
Mr. Wang was very curious about why there was such a large statue of Charles de Gaulle here.
It's no wonder that Mr. Wang doesn't understand.
To tell the truth, in the capital of a country, such a huge statue of a foreign head of state is erected, and it seems that this kind of view can only be seen in Moscow.
I gave Mr. Wang a brief history of this hotel.
The Cosmos Hotel was part of the Olympic Village for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.
At that time, the Cosmos Hotel was jointly invested and built by the former Soviet Union and France, and was designed by the French.
After the Olympics, the Moscow Cosmos Hotel could not be idle, because of the large size of the hotel, which was why the hotel operated as a five-star hotel for several years.
In 2005, the 60th anniversary of the victory in World War II, Moscow held a large-scale commemoration of the ceremony, attended by the leaders of more than 50 countries of the world. One of the most important ceremonies was the unveiling of the bronze statue of Charles de Gaulle in front of the Hotel Cosmos, which is also a famous sight in Moscow.
I chose to stay here not only because I have worked here, but also because of the easy accessibility. It is close to the All-Russian Exhibition Centre and the Space Memorial Museum, and the Ostankino TV Tower is in the distance.
The next day, after breakfast, I called the secretary of the general manager of the construction group company.
The secretary kindly told me that their boss would be waiting for us at their group's headquarters at 10 a.m.
We arrived at the meeting point on time.
In the company's magnificent reception room, the general manager of the company, the project manager and the chief engineer in charge of our project received us together.
Contrary to what we expected, the people at this company were very polite and polite to us.
Mr. Wang explained to them our financial preparation and the construction strength of our domestic cooperative units.
The general manager of the Russian side seems to be very satisfied with our work and says that he hopes to have the opportunity to cooperate with Chinese companies.
In the car back to the hotel, Mr. Wang excitedly said to me that the old director's words really scared me, and I have always been very stressed about the meeting with the general manager, but I didn't expect them to be so polite to us.
Back at the hotel, the proud Mr. Wang called Mr. Liu as soon as possible and informed him of the results of the talks with the Russian company.
Mr. Liu is obviously not mentally prepared for the attitude of the Russian side. I think he must have heard more complaints from the old bureau chief about the arrogant attitude of this general manager than we have heard, so Mr. Liu's reaction seems to be even more surprising than Mr. Wang's.
