Chapter 208: Nowhere to Go
Layla followed the sturdy man and returned nonchalantly.
It was a very dimly lit place, with no lights on and almost no light source. It's like a corner that has been overlooked by the world, hidden in the middle of the market.
They walked through a long dark corridor, the doors and windows along the way were worn and decrepit, and there was no smell of living people in each of them. Water was dripping from the eaves, snapping like some kind of rhythmic music.
Before I could enter the door, the sound of something breaking came out.
"Ahhh
A man's voice. This was followed by a series of rattling noises that sounded like something had been stacked together and he had violently kicked it to the ground.
"Awful." The man muttered vaguely, "It's so irritating to stay in this place all day and not be able to tear things apart......"
"Calm down, Kassym." The woman's voice rang out, "As I said, it's not time yet. It's very stupid to rush into the human world without knowing it, don't be like that nasty little girl......"
"Layla?"
The mention of the man named Qasim made him even more angry.
"She's the only one out there, and we've got to stay here." Qasim's voice became more and more indistinct, "Die, die, die!" โ
Then there was the sound of blunt force impacting, as if something had been shattered. The whole house seemed to shake, and dust slipped off the roof.
"Qasim."
The woman's voice raised a few degrees. The man named Qasim snorted again and did not answer, but it sounded like he had relented.
"Try not to tear this place down, we still need it. It wouldn't be nice if it collapsed and attracted unwanted attention. The woman's voice softened, and then said, "Don't worry, we'll settle accounts with the little girl."
She will learn the importance of listening to people......"
Layla walked into the dark room with a blank face, standing eeriely in a corner of the shadows.
"I'm coming." She said indifferently, "Just say what you want." โ
"Oh? That's exactly what it said......"
The woman sat in the chair and turned to the side, revealing a half-broad mind.
The sturdy man leading the way in front of Layla walked up to the woman and smiled, "I brought her back." โ
"Well done, Usaac." The woman smiled, "I knew I could count on you." โ
The man named Usak couldn't help but laugh, as if there was nothing more pleasant in the world. He stood beside the woman's chair, as if trying to make himself stand more naturally, but at last he still seemed to be unable to resist the temptation of some bottomless ravine. He had a strange expression and a sort of smile on his face.
It looks like it's some kind of dream of being welcomed in the middle of the road and walking alone.
Layla made no secret of her disdain for him.
Oh, isn't it big?
What's so good about big? It doesn't suffocate you.
Bored.
"Is there anything you want to say?" The woman in the chair looked at her.
The girl glanced at her, but did not speak.
"You're causing us trouble." The woman said unceremoniously, "I've emphasized it many times, low-key, low-key, low-key." It's been so long since the last time we woke up from this slumber, and the human world has begun to give birth to threats.
And the strongest of us is too far from the goal of full resurrection, and the few of us together can't make a perfect ......"
"That's why we need nourishment, don't we?" Layla's voice had no temperature, "Without nourishment, without human emotional nourishment, we will never reach the state we need."
So I went out and took the initiative to collect to help me get back to my best fasterโjust when you were all huddled here and afraid to go out. โ
The irascible man named Qasim in the back spoke: "I think she has a point. We really shouldn't be ...... all the time."
"Shut up, Qasim."
The woman in the chair scolded impatiently, and Kasim quickly fell silent.
"Of course, regaining strength is the top priority, and I never said it wasn't necessary." The woman said indifferently, "But not in such a swaggering way."
You've attracted too much attention, and you're likely to incur destruction before you regain enough powerโor worse, maybe even implicate us.
So it's not just your business, stinky girl. Before you do every action you take, every word you say, I suggest you think about it very, very carefully. โ
Layla looked at her indifferently. The eyes of both sides collided in the air, and neither spoke for a while. There was silence in the dark room, except for the drops of water on the eaves outside the door.
After a while, Layla continued to speak, chuckling.
"It seems that your form has wasted so much essence on those two useless clumps of fat that you don't have the guts left." She scoffed, "Maybe you're no longer the right person to make decisions, Ophelia. โ
Before the woman could speak, Usaac, who seemed to be immersed in a dream of walking alone on the avenue, suddenly stepped forward.
"Take that back sentence."
It was as if Usaac had suddenly changed his character, his tone dropped sharply, cold and low, and even the temperature seemed to drop by a few degrees.
"What? Can't accept the sarcasm of your beloved Ophelia? Layla ignored his threatening gaze and said calmly.
Usaac's face became even more gloomy. He took a step forward, and the momentum seemed like he was about to start at the slightest disagreement, but was stopped by Ophelia.
"Forget about Usak, there's no need."
Ophelia lazily slammed into her seat, revealing her half-cut headlights and swaying violently.
"You don't seem to have a bad opinion of us." Ophelia looked at the girl, "Yes, I know you've been like this before, but not as violently as you did when you woke up this time. โ
Layla's gaze slowly swept over the remaining three people in the room, her eyes cold as if she were looking at a dead object.
"Of course. Look at you, look at yourselves, half-dead, pretending. We all know what this is all about, and deep down we all know what we are.
But what did you do? You pretend not to know. yes, act like everything is normal, as if we were supposed to be the way we should be. Haha, big joke. Look at yourselves, pathetic looks, and pretend you seem to care...... It's disgusting. โ
Her tone grew darker, and her expression looked more disgusted.
No one spoke.
All three eyes were focused on her, but no one retorted.
After a few moments, Ophelia leaned back in her chair and cocked her long, curvaceous legs.
"You know when you say that," she said slowly, "count yourself in, don't you?" โ
Layla stared straight at her, expressionless, and didn't speak. But the look in her eyes said it all.
The two looked at each other in silence for a moment.
"Okay." Ophelia said lightly, "We don't have much more to say. โ
"yes." Layla also said, "There's nothing more to say. โ
It was the only moment in this conversation that the two sides agreed.
The girl in the dress turned around and left the room without looking back.
The remaining three of them did not speak for a moment in the darkness, except for the sound of water droplets constantly lapping on the eaves to the ground.
......
Pitch black night, no moon, no starlight. The girl walked alone on the street in the dead of night, alone, and her shadow was stretched long by the street lamp.
She didn't seem to know where she was going, and she didn't have a clear direction, just moving forward mechanically.
Where else can I go? She doesn't belong to this era, she doesn't belong to this world, she doesn't belong anywhere. She's not even human, she's just making herself look like they're just like them, but she knows it's not real.
She kept walking forward until she was forced to stop.
The street lights went out with a bang.
The girl stopped and slowly raised her head.
In the darkness, her eyes lit up with a faint blue glow.
A bat in the darkness was reflected in his eyes.
