Chapter XXIII Reporting
Chunas left MI9 and went directly to the military headquarters, where he had to report to his superiors on the mission to escort the slave ship.
The military is not monolithic, and the two largest factions are the king's faction and the great aristocratic faction. The former is truly loyal to His Majesty the King and the House of Augustus. The latter was ostensibly loyal to the crown, but in fact represented the interests of some of the great nobles, mainly those of the historic landed aristocracy, such as Duke Negan.
Belonging to the former, Cunas was a die-hard supporter of George III. His superiority in the military was none other than Admiral Hein Clausevie, who was directly loyal to His Majesty the King, the four demigods of the Arbiter Path.
Arriving at the military headquarters, Admiral Hein's secretary told Chunas that His Excellency was inspecting the barracks at this time and would not be able to return until noon.
Chunas had to wait in the reception room. After just waiting for a while, Chunas felt a little agitated and couldn't help but get up and paced back and forth indoors.
What happened in Pritz Harbor had always made him restless, and although the enemy did not reappear, the abnormal ability and unprovoked attack made him unable to figure it out, and the unknown was dangerous.
After drinking too much coffee and going to the bathroom twice, the secretary came over to inform Cunas that Admiral Hine was preparing to go to the military cafeteria. Chunas thanked the secretary and hurried to the restaurant.
Admiral Hine was a very easy-going man, a self-proclaimed humorous man who liked to tell all sorts of jokes, including Rune's not-so-funny jokes and Intis's colourful jokes.
Chunas soon found Admiral Hine in the dining area, who was smiling and talking to an officer with a plate. Chunas knew the officer, who, like himself, was a major general.
Admiral Hine was a middle-aged gentleman who looked to be only in his forties, and his face was warm and well-kept, and he could not see the small wrinkles at the corners of his eyes if he looked closely. In fact, this is an old man who is almost sixty years old, his sideburns are a little gray, but the rest of his hair is still completely black, and his hairline is unexpectedly high for his age.
Chunas found an opportunity to report to Admiral Hine alone on the mission in the Southern Continent.
The military's development of the Black Gloves' slave hunt was supported by the Gnostic, and in the Roth Islands, in East Bailang, they easily captured enough slaves, the biggest difficulty being how to hide from the Storm Church and the official investigation. The main task of Chunas is only to escort the slave ships at sea, and to kill anyone in the know if there is a risk of being discovered.
Chunas gave a brief account of the secret mission, adding a few important details. Admiral Hein's smile never faded, and he nodded his head again and again as Chunas recounted the key points, as if he was very satisfied with this shrewd and capable subordinate.
At the end of the conversation, Chunas looked hesitant and thoughtful, "Just as I was about to complete my mission and prepare to hand them over at Pritz Harbor, I was attacked. ”
"Oh? Is there such a thing? You're hurt? Admiral Hine had just the right expression of concern.
"I didn't get hurt, but I didn't do any harm to him either, and that's where I wondered. Please give me some advice, Your Excellency. Chunas said earnestly.
"Tell me about it."
"He looks like a spirit that floats in the air all the time. He is able to use the Arbiter Path's ability, at least Sequence Five, but the ability effect is stronger than the normal Sequence Five. I don't see him use the seal, but whatever he says will be fulfilled. The weirdest thing is that he's immune to almost all of my abilities, both mine and the "Concerto of Light and Shadow" abilities. I've never been in such a situation where I'm completely unaffected, and as far as I know, even the demigod-level abilities of the adults in Sequence 3 or Sequence 2 have only greatly reduced the effect of their demigod-level ability attacks. ”
"Hmm...... It's a bit unreasonable, huh...... What are your thoughts? ”
"I don't think he's a normal person, but a high-level evil spirit of the Arbiter Path, who was affected by the extraordinary characteristics of other paths during his formative years, causing his abilities to mutate."
"Hmm...... Makes sense, so what do you want to do? ”
"I want to look up the portraits of nobles and royal families based on his image, and see if there are any fallen high-ranking powerhouses whose appearance is similar to this evil spirit, so as to confirm the identity of the evil spirit."
"That's a good direction, so what's next for you?"
"I want to start by posting a mission at MI9 to look for relevant clues. In line with the evil spirit's instinct to crave extraordinary materials in this way, this was focused on at the underground market and Beckland meetup with the Extraordinary. At the same time, wanted warrants were issued, and bounty hunters were widely launched. ”
"Okay, you have done a good job on this mission to the Southern Continent, and I will report this to His Majesty the King and fight for a reward for you. You take care of this evil spirit, and go back to rest. ”
"Yes, follow your orders, I will immediately deal with the evil spirit incident and swear allegiance to His Majesty!"
Seeing this ambitious and energetic subordinate leave, Admiral Hein's smile remained unchanged.
……
Howles Street, in the living room of the Welch family.
Naya, a beautiful girl with long soft brown hair, looked into the dark black notebook on the marble coffee table and excitedly proposed, "Why don't we do a divination?" What do you think? ”
"Divination? That's what you girls like to play, and I think we should look for more references. ”
Klein shook his head in disapproval, divination was very unreliable when he heard it. History is a serious topic that needs to be studied and empirically proven, so how can it be treated with a child's play?
"It's not impossible, is it? We can give it a try, and it's not a hassle anyway. Welch was not as straightforward as Crane, and immediately followed Naya's suggestion and proposed a solution that would please the girl.
Then he said to Naya, "Do you know how to divination? ”
"I know, I know, I've learned a little bit from people, we can do mirror divination."
As she spoke, Naya stood up and urged Welch to find the items needed for divination.
After a while, Naya and Welch returned with a silver mirror, a candle, and a bottle of men's perfume.
Naya closed all the doors in the living room, then closed the curtains, and the living room immediately became dark.
After that, Naya took the trouble to wipe the already clean marble coffee table, put the notes of the Antigonus family in the center, and placed the mirror behind the notes, so that the person sitting in front of the coffee table could see the notes in the mirror. She set the candle in front of the note, then lit it, took out Welch's perfume, and sprayed some in the air, and the air was filled with a heavy fragrance.
With everything ready, Naya half-knelt in front of the coffee table, and asked Welch and Crane to face the coffee table and stand behind her, quiet and respectful.
And so a divination that seemed a little nonsense began.
In the dim candlelight, Naya stretched out one hand to caress the mirror, the shadow of her arm passed through the note, showing a crooked and turbulent shape, and the other hand covered her chest, she closed her eyes and whispered respectfully:
"O magic mirror, please tell me the origin of the notes in front of me."
She repeated under her breath, Welch staring curiously in the mirror, and Klein feeling a little ridiculous.
The yellow candle flame trembled slightly, the room was abnormally cold, and the black-covered notebook spread out a strange power, silently wrapping around the three young people in front of the coffee table, and the three of them were unaware.
