Chapter 100: Suffering is not worth singing about
It took billions of years for nature to transform the Earth into what it is today. It would take tens of thousands of years to artificially transform the entire planet until it becomes an environment similar to the surface of the earth that the human body can adapt to.
The right amount of light, abundant water resources, proper planetary gravity, the introduction of aquatic and terrestrial organisms to modify the planet to create an ecological environment suitable for human survival... and a series of complex work, there is no room for error.
Transforming a planet's ecosystem through meticulous carving and transformation is no less difficult than having an artist sculpt a human figure out of soft clay.
But under the miraculous science and technology of the Empire, all of this took only five years.
In five years, Walpole III went from a barren world with almost no atmosphere. The surface is covered with craters, and the dead planet with no life at all has become a world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. There is a stable source of water, there are continents divided by the ocean, and there are seasonal temperatures that vary with latitude and longitude.
Several human cities have been built on it, and about 700 million people live here. Work hard to build this planet under the leadership of the planetary governor.
Although the work is very hard, compared to the people of the Empire on other planets, they already feel like they are in heaven. Especially the kind of inhabitants who are brought from some nest world to the nest or even the bottom nest.
Think about their original lives: living in large, crowded neighborhoods, dark and dirty, and probably without sunlight for the rest of their lives.
The purified air passes through trenches and pipes from the upper floors of the nest to the lower floors. Breathe in the already murky air coming from above. In the depths of the nest, especially among the old factories and bottom nests, the air lines are no longer functioning. The environment is full of toxic fumes and exhaust fumes, and people need to wear breathing masks at all times to maintain their breathing.
Residents had to work non-stop for the factory owners in scrap pipes, gutters, and work areas crisscrossed with flowing waste liquid and venom in exchange for a small payment to buy "corpse starch" made from leftovers and recycles from the upper class.
In the nest capital, facing the sun and enjoying the fresh air can be called a status symbol just like eating good food.
But now, as they look at the blue sky they've never seen before, breathe in the fresh air, and eat the organic fruits and vegetables they grow, they feel as if they've reached the pinnacle of their lives.
It's still hard work, but they're building their homes. They are working hard to build this planet for a better tomorrow.
Thanks to the efforts of these people of the empire, every minute and every second, the planet is developing rapidly.
On Walpole III, Freeman is returning to his cozy little home after a busy day's work.
He is a crane worker who operates a huge material handling machine to build the modular structures that have been transported to the planet. The operation of those material handling machines is not complicated, and with simple training, any subject of the empire can easily master it.
And our lucky Freeman, because he was the second group of colonists to come to this planet, got this simple and easy job.
"The Ancient God Emperor"
"Thank you for the emperor's blessing and thank the Holy Son for his blessing." As Freeman walked home, his heart filled with gratitude to the Emperor and the Son as he thought of his fortunate experience.
Freeman's home is a house made up of building blocks that the Empire has brought to this planet. In the early stage, all of them were uniformly planned residences, and everyone was exactly the same in all aspects. Freeman's home was built by himself in the hands of his own machinery.
Freeman built these homes at the time, so he never dared to imagine that they would be his own. Although these houses can only be described as ordinary to some high-ranking officials, this is not the case for Freeman at all.
In his imagination, this kind of house should not have anything to do with him. If I hadn't been lucky enough to get a lifting job, I might not have had the chance to see this kind of high-end residence.
The modular home was the best Freeman had ever seen in his short life. When he heard that this was his house, Freeman's jaw dropped to the ground in shock.
After walking a few blocks, we finally arrived at our doorstep. Freeman took out the key and was about to open the door when two children burst out of the door, one holding one of Freeman's legs.
"Daddy!" x2
"Alice, Jerome! Haha, what did you learn in school today? ”
These are a pair of Freeman's sons and daughters, who also followed Freeman to the planet under construction. Currently attending public schools on the planet.
"I know why the boat is floating on the water!" As a younger brother, Jerome showed off, hoping to get praise from his father.
"Oh, that's amazing! Much smarter than when my dad was a kid! Freeman never went to school, but he knew the importance of knowledge. He was sincerely happy that his son had learned.
"I've learned it all, and I still know how sound travels!" Alice, who is an older sister, saw her father touching her brother's head with a smile on her face, and quickly told her father what she had learned.
"Haha, Alice is really amazing." Freeman felt like he had been on this planet for just a few years, and he had leaked more smiles than he had in the previous half of his life combined.
"You three! Don't hurry in and eat, the food is going to be cold! A woman stood inside the house and yelled at the trio.
"Got it, Ashley." Freeman replied to his wife, and walked home with his children in tow.
"Go and sit down at the table, or your mother will be angry again."
By the time Freeman's family was seated at the table, all the dishes for dinner were arranged. Parents are prepared to have their children pray before meals. The youngest, Jerome, could not recite the prayer well, and his mother was teaching him with concern.
"Thank you to the Emperor, thank you to the Holy Son." Freeman looked at the rich dishes on the table and prayed from the bottom of his heart.
He was eating fresh vegetables that could only be enjoyed by the nobles of the nest capital in the past, and even some meat. His two children learn in school. He has a job that can support his family, and the salary he earns can buy a lot. His wife works on the farm, which is much easier than the factory in the nest.
All of this made Freeman full of gratitude to the regent of the empire, Sivir, and to the emperor who sent such a holy son to the earth to save the world.
