129. Kimberlite

Xu Xin looked in a daze.

In fact, he's looking at the stratigraphic analysis horizon.

When he had just walked through the primary diamond mine in Maping No. 1, he had actually opened the horizon of stratigraphic analysis, and his eyes had been staring at the ground.

But because I have to talk to the people next to me, I can't pay attention to the horizon.

So, until now, he had time to look at the results of the Stratigraphic Analysis Horizon's exploration of the subsurface.

A cross-sectional drawing of more than two hundred meters was suspended in his line of sight out of thin air.

Kimberlite, shale, dolomite, shale, claystone, siltstone, quartz sandstone, siltstone......

Rock formations, stretching downward.

With the exception of the surface kimberlite, the rest of the stratigraphy was business as usual with a systematic diamond grade of 0 mg/m3.

The surface layer of kimberlite, due to severe weathering, has become very thin, only a shallow layer on the surface.

In the thin layer of kimberlite, the diamond grade is basically below 5 mg/m3, which indicates that there is diamond in the kimberlite, but the grade is really low.

"Boss Xu!"

Wu Fuyan's shout woke Xu Xin up from immersion mode.

"What's wrong?" Xu Xin turned his head.

"A good car is comfortable to drive, or I'll drive for Boss Xu in the future, is Boss Xu short of drivers?" Wu Fuyan is a self-acquaintance, and there is always a smile on the corner of his mouth when he speaks.

Xu Xin knew that the other party was joking, and waved his hand, "Don't call me Boss Xu, it sounds weird." ”

"I'll call you Brother Xu, I was born in July of 01, what about you?"

"I ......" Xu Xin didn't know how to answer.

"Brother Xu, you look young, how do you usually take care of your skin?" Wu Fuyan subconsciously, obviously thought that the mine bosses should be elderly people.

But after looking at Xu Xin's appearance, he was not sure of his age.

Xu Xin directly changed the topic, "Are you sure that you can find kimberlite in the seven prospecting targets you have selected?" ”

Speaking of work, Wu Fuyan put away his hippie smile and said seriously: "Seventy years of prospecting work, the magma rocks exposed on the surface have all been explored over and over again, and there are basically no omissions.

If the assumptions are accurate, the seven prospecting targets we have re-selected must be hidden intrusive rocks that have not been exposed, which is what we often call 'carrot-like' kimberlites.

In fact, there are a few places, we did a little electrical measurement some time ago, and found out the boundary of the rock mass, from the measurement results, the shape of the rock mass is very similar to intrusive rock, most likely kimberlite!

As for whether there is diamond in kimberlite, it is impossible to judge at this time. ”

Kimberlite comes from the deep mantle and is one of the intrusive rocks that are very rare worldwide.

Only a small part of the kimberlite is inlaid with diamonds.

It can be seen how hopeless the diamond prospecting work is.

"You did an electrical measurement? Have you set up a project here before? ”

"A small project, that is, a recent thing, Mr. Song didn't know where to pull hundreds of thousands of funds, and took it to our company to make a simple measurement, just collected a little data."

Wu Fuyan said, a little helpless: "You also know that this little money is invested in the exploration work, and there is not a drop of splash. ”

Xu Xin thought about it a little and was probably able to guess the source of these hundreds of thousands of funds.

There is a high probability that He Xi wanted to verify some speculations and paid out of his own pocket to make electrical measurements.

Electrical measurement can measure different lithologies and rock layer interfaces according to the difference in resistivity of rock formations, and can roughly circle the shape of rock mass, but it cannot detect diamond at all.

Chatting along the way, they arrived at the first prospecting target.

A steep hillside, rocky, overgrown with weeds and shrubs.

After being reminded by He Penghui and others, Xu Xin knew that the lithologies outcropping on the surface of this place were dolomite.

When I looked up, I found nothing.

There is no porphyry kimberlite or potash porphyry, and not a single purple-red almandine embedded in the rock has been seen along the way.

No indicative features of diamond ore have been observed.

It is no wonder that the previous diamond prospecting work did not involve these places.

Aside from the aeromagnetic anomaly diagram and the contour diagram of the high-density electrical method, there is really no need to search for diamonds with the naked eye.

In the hands of a technician at 107, the numbers on the small screen of the Gaussmeter are constantly changing.

It can be clearly seen that the magnetic induction intensity of this inconspicuous hillside is indeed relatively high.

For these geologists, there is really nothing to say about the geology of the surface here.

If you want to really find out whether there is really a hidden kimberlite mass, there is only one way, drill a hole!

Obviously, this is not possible now.

Xu Xin looked at the ground, as if he was looking at his toes in a daze.

The horizon of stratigraphic analysis is opened, and the line of sight penetrates all the way through various low levels, looking at a depth of 500 meters underground.

In his sight, a professional clear and clear geological profile map slowly unfolded:

Dolomite......

Shale......

Claystone ......

Siltstone......

Kimberlite......

At about 230 meters underground, the tip of the kimberlite appeared.

As the gaze continues down, all you see is kimberlite.

Like most intrusive rock masses, the kimberlite rock mass in front of you is in a "carrot-like" shape, with a sharp tip at the top and a wide bottom that gradually extends deep into the formation.

If not damaged by complex geological activities, this "carrot-shaped" kimberlite mass can connect to the depths of the deep mantle, to depths that humans cannot explore.

Each kimberlite mass is worth studying in depth because they carry material from deep within the Earth's mantle.

In the middle of the cone representing kimberlite, the diamond content is indicated, and if you click on a point with an arrow, you can even show a more detailed diamond content.

As with other types of minerals, the location of the corresponding strata in the place where the ore is found will be specially marked with a red background.

However, on this section, there is no bright redness.

The feeling of floating like a ribbon in the dark underground is even more impossible.

Although there are no large red bands representing the ore layer, there are still scattered red spots on the rock layer representing kimberlite.

These red dots represent local occurrences.

On the whole, it would be more accurate to describe mineralisation.

When the arrow clicks on these red dots, the corresponding physical properties will pop up: diamond content 30 mg/m3......

There are actually quite a lot of red dots, and I won't be able to see them all for a while.

On the kimberlite that appears in the profile, the overall average diamond content is 8 mg/m3.

This average of diamond content, in the judgment of the system, did not reach the cut-off grade.

So far, there is still no unified specification for diamond exploration work.

The specific number of values that can reach the cut-off grade and industrial grade will be given different standards in different places and different experts.

Whether a diamond deposit is mineralized and whether it is worth mining is often judged by the value of diamond in the current market.

If the purpose of the work in front of you is to find gem-quality diamonds, then they must have set a high standard for ore discovery.

One carat diamond, the weight is 200 mg.

How many tonnes of ore can a gem-quality diamond be found to achieve the economic benefits of mining?

This is a question that requires in-depth research and calculation.

Everyone just went around this barren mountain, and there wasn't much to discuss other than recording some data on the intensity of magnetic induction through a Gaussmeter.

In the search for hidden kimberlite bodies, ordinary geological methods no longer work.

They left the first point and went west without stopping, rushing to the next point.

It can be seen from the map that almost all of the seven prospecting target areas are located between the Liuyang River and the Yuanjiang River, arranged all the way from west to east, like the Big Dipper.

After reading seven points, the sky was already dark.

Especially the last prospecting target area, which is deep in the mountains and old forests, from the mountain to the parking place, the sky is already completely dark.

A long day of field work can be summed up in a few words: nothing to gain.

Long before Xu Xin came, Song Yizong, He Penghui, Wu Fuyan and others had already run many times in these prospecting target areas, and even did some surface work.

I had already expected what I would be able to see today.

They brought Xu Xin over, and the main purpose was to persuade Xu Xin to invest money in this project.

They also know that seeing with their eyes alone is obviously not convincing.

But there is no way, this is the case, diamond prospecting is like a bamboo basket to draw water, in a turbid water, nothing can be seen, a basket is often empty-handed.

But what if, one time you catch a fish?

They can only do their own technical work, as for Xu Xin's decision, it depends on Xu Xin's decision.

In order to be in a hurry, everyone just ate dry food at noon, but after a long journey, they were sweating and couldn't eat too much of this kind of stuff at all.

At night, everyone was so hungry that their chests were pressed against their backs.

In the dark, the cigarette butt He Xi sandwiched between his fingers emitted a glow, and he took a puff of cigarette, and said in a hoarse voice: "Let's go to Zhenyuan County for dinner first, what is the saying, let's talk about it after eating and drinking." ”

He was in his seventies, and it was obvious that he was struggling to climb mountains all day, but he always showed great interest.
