Chapter Seventy-Three: Asylum
Unlike Su Mengfan's prediction, his objections did not anger Timothy at all.
On the contrary, Timothy was even more energetic, his pink cheeks flushed with enthusiasm.
"If that doesn't prove to you that he exists," Timothy Spirit said.
"Then think about it from another angle, if the world is not a display of God's will......"
His voice suddenly froze like a threat, and it wasn't until Su Mengfan was impatient that he thought about how to continue,
"That means that people will fend for themselves, and our survival and continuation will be meaningless......
It means that we are completely alone and no one cares about us.
It means that we are descended into chaos, and it means that there is not even the faintest ray of hope at the end of this tunnel......
How terrible it must be to live in such a world. We can't live in such a world! ”
Su Mengfan didn't make any answer, but these words did make him think.
It wasn't until this moment that he realized that his life was a mess, a complete series of unrelated or plausible accidents.
Although this thought oppressed him, he felt that perhaps believing in simple truths could infuse his life with great meaning, but Su Mengfan still thought it was cowardly.
Through pain and doubt, Su Mengfan draws strength from thinking, his life is meaningless, and every living thing should resist the boredom and chaos of life.
Although with faith, it is possible to focus on one point, so that people's goals are consistent.
But with faith, there is also a loss of a certain driving force.
But Su Mengfan didn't feel at all that he was debating with the mild-mannered Timothy at this time.
He had a warm feeling of gratitude to those who had been so gracious to him.
The man who helped him when he was stuck, hungry, and full of stench.
The one who spoke softly to him.
The man who gave him food and clean clothes.
He wanted to thank him in some way, so when this person motioned for him to join the Watchtower Society, Su Mengfan was happy to go to every pore, and he would gladly go wherever he was taken.
The meeting will be held in the next carriage, the third carriage.
It was crowded with all sorts of people, most of them wearing the same coats.
There was a small gallows in the middle of the carriage, and the person standing on it was much higher than the person on the floor, almost with his head on the ceiling.
"It's important that you listen to all of this carefully." Timothy gave Su Mengfan a kind suggestion.
He gently squeezed a path out of the crowd with his elbows and brought Su Mengfan to the middle of the crowd.
The speaker was very old, with a gray beard that flowed down to his chest, and his deep, uncertain eyes showed wisdom and calmness.
His face was neither fat nor thin, and was covered with deep wrinkles, but these wrinkles did not show people the weakness or helplessness of an old man, but spoke of wisdom. It exudes inexplicable power.
"That's Elder John," Timothy whispered to Su Mengfan. The tone is full of awe,
"You are really lucky, Brother Su Mengfan, as soon as the sermon begins, you will be taught immediately."
The elder raised his hand, and the whispering of the tolerance rate below immediately stopped.
Then he began to preach in a deep and solemn voice: "The first lesson I give you, my brothers, is about how to know what God requires of you.
First of all, you have to answer three questions. What important message does the Bible contain? Who is the author? Why should we study it? ”
His style of speech differed from Timothy's tactfulness in that it was very concise and to the point.
Su Mengfan was impressed by this at first, but when he scanned the crowd, he found that most people could only understand such straightforward orders, and Timothy's words were as meaningless to them as a wall or a table.
At the same time, the gray-haired preachers inform them of God's truth in the Bible:
Who he is and which are his precepts.
The preacher then turned to the second question, saying that the Bible was written by about 40 divinely inspired people over the course of 1,600 years.
"That's why it is said," the elder concluded, "that the author of the Bible is not a man, but God who dwells in heaven." Now, answer me, brothers, why should we study the Bible? ”
Without waiting for his brothers to answer, he answered himself.
"For it is an eternal commitment for you to know God and do His will. Not everyone is happy to see you study the Bible," the preacher looked around with a solemn expression.
"But don't let anyone stop you!" There was silence in the room, and the elder took a sip of water.
Continue: "The second lesson I'm going to give you, brothers, is about who God is.
Now, answer three more questions: Who is the true God? What is his name? What are his most important qualities? What is the right way to worship Him? “
Someone in the crowd tried to answer the question, but the elder John immediately replied with an angry expression, and said to himself coldly:
"People worship many things, but the Bible says that there is only one God. He created everything in heaven and on earth.
Since He has given us life, we must worship Him alone. What is the name of the true God? The elder asked sharply after a pause.
"Yay. And Hua! The crowd roared in unison.
Su Mengfan cautiously looked left and right.
"God's real name is Yay. And Hua! The preacher affirmed,
"He has many titles, but only one name. Remember the name of our God.
And, don't be like a coward who only dares to shout his title!
Don't be afraid to call it by its name! Now who can tell me what is the most important quality of God? ”
Su Mengfan now knew that even the least educated people in the crowd could answer such questions.
A young man with a serious expression standing next to him raised his hand to answer, but the elder did not give him a chance to answer.
"It can be seen from the Bible. The quality of Hehua!
His most important qualities are love, justice, wisdom, and strength. The Bible records that God is merciful, kind, magnanimous, and patient.
We are to always follow him and imitate him, like obedient children," and the elder continued to ask questions with his beard on.
"Now, tell me how to worship God. And Hua? Yes. He Hua said that we can only worship him alone.
But we must not look up to pictures, images, symbols and pray for them!
Our God will not share His glory with others! Portraits are of no use to us! The elder let out a rumbling and threatening sound.
