A few years later, taking advantage of the change of dynasty in ancient Persia, Manichaeism returned to its homeland and gradually grew to become the state religion of the Sassanid Dynasty, and Mani also became a national teacher.

In his later years, Mani wanted to preach the world, and specially wrote seven books, called "The Wisdom Sutra of the Root of Ten Thousand Laws", "The Treasure Sutra of Pure Life", "The Sutra of the Law", "The Sutra of the Secret Law", "The Sutra of Proof of the Past", "The Sutra of Hercules", and "The Sutra of Praise and Wishes".
