Chapter 4 New Officers

After blasting Senwal away, Kuster vented inside again, and his mood improved.

But he was still a little uneasy, so he said to the wheat field outside:

"You go find a few people and show him to me!"

"It's not good." Mai Tian hesitated

"What's wrong, if you want to say who I'm most worried about, the first one must be him. I told him to go west, and he ran east. I asked him to catch the horse, and he went to walk the dog. You also know these things, he belongs to the lord of the innate brain, and if I don't keep an eye on him, I will have to go to hell to feed the pigs. ”

"Yes, I promise to let him catch the horse for you, if you can't do it, I'll let him feed you the pigs." Mai Tian heard this humorous tone, teased and walked away with a gun.

Kuster was a little helpless, and then laughed as well. Now that no one around will bother him, he can calm down and think about what to do next.

Kuster made a cup of coffee, lit a cigarette, and tasted each one, his eyelids slightly closed, and he looked pleasant.

When he finished his coffee and wanted to get up to get down to business, there was a rush of footsteps outside the command post.

It was Gerstoli, who waved his hand as he ran, and shouted:

"Good news, General Kuster!"

Kuster held back the anger in his heart and said to him:

"My friend, your arrival is bad news for me, so tell your good news as soon as possible and get out."

He frowned, not understanding what Kuster was talking about, but he said excitedly:

"It's the troops, our reinforcements have arrived! There were more than 2,000 of them, and there were many officers! This is exactly what we need, and I advise you to meet them, they are in the camp of Gorodok. As for me, I will strictly obey your orders and get out of here at once! ”

Kuster did not stop him from getting out, but straightened out his appearance, put on his military cap, walked out of the headquarters, took a few Austrian veterans, and walked to Gorodok.

The road was unhindered, and soon it was in the city. After being inspected, the Kuster and the others made their way through the saluting crowd.

As Kuster had barely taken a few steps outside, he was surprised to see a figure he knew very well, except that his left eye had become an eyepatch and a broken leg, which he had to barely hold on to his crutches when he tried to stand up.

There is no doubt that it was General Franz.

"Hurry over a few soldiers and take him back to the hospital, General Franz has just been wounded, how can he come out so quickly?!" Kuster said nervously.

Several of the soldiers behind Kuster then rushed towards Franz, but were quickly interrupted by Franz.

"I'll see who dares to come!" Franz leaned his back against the wall, propped up the ground with one foot, held the wall with one hand, and pointed at the soldiers with his cane in the other.

The people around looked at Franz like this, and no one dared to approach. Only Kuster came to him, and said:

"You're really crazy! Does a defeat make you decadent? ”

Franz blushed, gritted his teeth, and said:

"Although I am glad to see that you are still alive, I am also very upset about your words. You've changed, Kuster. ”

Kuster's face was a little unnatural when he heard him say this, and he wanted to speak, but Franz's voice came again.

"You are not like before, you look at your current appearance, I don't see a trace of a soldier in you, I don't think such a person can go to the battlefield or even become a general."

"That's better than being a disabled person. Moreover, if you are so frustrated after only one failure, you cannot be called a person, you can only say that you are a disposable tool. ”

Kuster finally seized the opportunity to speak, and fought back with the same sharp words, then put his hand on Franz's shoulder, and said in a serious tone:

"It was our first failure, but a lot of people only had one chance to fail. In contrast, we are lucky, cheer up, my friend, we will have many more failures after that. So before that, please take care of your injuries, okay? ”

Franz smiled miserably, shook his head, left only a "good luck", and walked away without looking back.

Kuster watched Franz drift away, took a deep breath, turned around as well, and led his soldiers towards the garrison of the supplementary army.

When they arrived at the station, several officers saw Kuster and wanted to talk to him, but Kuster was not in a good mood and said that he would wait until they arrived at the division headquarters.

The officers stopped talking, but returned to their units and led them towards the 27th Division.

Kuster allowed the disorganized army to utter all sorts of filthy words, just smoked a cigarette and looked under his feet, and walked on the grass without saying a word.

It was close to afternoon when Kuster and the supplementary army arrived, and many people in the division headquarters were watching from above, except for the chief clerk Senwal.

The soldiers in the garrison cheered expressionlessly, and the idle officers watched with delight.

But neither the sound nor the eyes, as if they were unconscious, continued to walk outside the station. On the contrary, it was the Austrian veteran next to him who clenched his guns and held back his anger.

It wasn't until Gerstoli's shadow came into his field of vision that he slowly looked up and said:

"Congratulations, Colonel Gerstoli, I have decided to assign you several battalions, and as for the specific information, I will tell you in the command."

Gerstoli was a little dazed, but pulled him back into the station.

As soon as I entered the station, I saw a group of new officers.

One of the officers came out of the group, and it seemed to be their leader. He came over and said to Kuster:

"General! I am DrΓ©val, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, Hungarian. There are 2 majors behind me, and the rest are basically recent graduates from the military academy, and they are here with 2,000 soldiers, hoping to fight for the empire side by side with you. ”

Koost nodded and said:

"Then let the colonel-level officers follow me into the headquarters, and the rest of the officers will find a place to rest."

Then he turned to Gerstoli and said:

"Call me all those cowards to the command, we're ready to go to war. But they are still hiding in a corner and crying, where do they look like soldiers! ”

Since their defeat a few days ago, most of these officers who have been on the front lines have been reluctant to confront outsiders, but have stayed in a nest and do not know what they are doing.

Kuster understands them, of course, but is about to return to the battlefield, and Kuster must get them back on their feet.

After Gerstori left, Kuster brought the 3 new officers to the command headquarters and spent the second in silence.

There was a moment of footsteps outside the headquarters, and the four of them looked out, only to see Wheat Field and a few soldiers escorting a few officers, while Gerstoli was talking to the officers with a bitter face.

Mai Tian and the soldiers beside him pressed the officers to their respective seats, and said with some apologies:

"I'm very sorry, these commanders are reluctant to come out, but this is the general's order, so I can only tie them up, hoping to forgive me."

Kuster waved his hand helplessly and motioned for the wheat field to go out. The wheat field did not ink, and stood outside the headquarters with the soldiers beside him.

Next, it's time for Kuster to get down to business.
