Chapter 116: The Cabin in the Woods
Along the way, the atmosphere in the carriage was rather dull, and everyone didn't seem to want to talk.
In fact, Hermione was still very happy, after all, she was about to go home. But although she is a little lacking in emotional intelligence, under the influence of the three people in front of her, she still figured out a lot of things whether she should open her mouth or not.
For example, now is definitely not a good time to talk about the topic of a good family.
Luke's origins are no secret. The current head of the Gunter family sounds like a young man is proud. But if you think about it, it's not because this child has no parents.
Taylor and Gemma are both hidden, but the information revealed between the lines still shows that their families are not happy.
Thinking about the family of the 'savior' in her own academy was also broken, Hermione suddenly felt that it was difficult to find a good family in the wizarding world.
The more I think about it, the more I feel that something is wrong.
Fortunately, this dullness did not last all the way.
After Hermione told Luke about some of her magical discoveries, everyone's conversation box was opened.
Luke looked listless and had a good match, but he was able to make every word inspire the other three people who were discussing.
At first, Gemma felt that it was inexplicable for the three first-graders to discuss this kind of thing, even if she knew that none of the three guys were simple, she subconsciously thought that their discussion would be relatively shallow.
But she never expected that the things discussed were completely outside her field of knowledge. She knows a few things, but she's not proficient.
I didn't even think about this kind of thinking at all.
"Muggle math is actually great stuff." Luke looked at Hermione and said with a serious expression, "If you can, Hermione, I don't want you to give up on math. β
Hermione wanted to say something, after all, the study of math itself was tiring enough, and although she had a little talent in this area, it didn't mean that she liked it and didn't feel tired.
But looking at Luke's serious eyes, Hermione frowned, thought carefully for a moment, and then said, "I'll try my best." But seriously, don't get your hopes up. β
Hermione is still very self-aware in terms of learning, and after knowing that she has no talent for flying, she is in a state of getting by with flying lessons. It's not a mental roll.
That's not courage, and sheer head iron.
So being able to say something like this is already the biggest concession.
Luke, on the other hand, smiled and said, "I think you might find a little new fun or a sense of accomplishment in this." β
Hermione nodded, and unconsciously began to think.
Luke breathed a sigh of relief, but he was also a little embarrassed.
The connection between magic and mathematics was the inspiration he received from Professor McGonagall. But in his own words, he really didn't have that talent, and before he crossed over, he also studied liberal arts.
Study spells, no problem, because the study of spells is entirely based on talent and ideas. And the means to produce results is continuous experimentation.
But if he really wants to make a connection between magic and mathematics, this is not a problem that he can solve. And for research, this aspect itself is not his specialty.
Whenever he saw the experimental manuscripts and notes left behind by the family, he felt that he had embarrassed the Gaunt family.
After all, it seems that he is really a bit bad at research.
Of course, such thoughts didn't last long.
Until the first person gets out of the car.
Taylor was the first of the four to get off the train, and after only four or five stops, Taylor said goodbye to everyone and left.
Hermione was amazed at how close Taylor's home was. Gemma and Luke nodded at Taylor, who told Taylor to be careful along the way.
Luke's passage was a bit of a surprise, but in essence, it was a good thing. Not having to sit in a group at King's Cross means that many students can get home early.
And it is convenient and inconvenient for parents to pick up this matter. But in the end, it's still convenient. Because even if you leave King's Cross Station, you have to pick up the parents of the students after all.
Of course, it is not excluded that parents with big hearts can let their children go home by themselves at will. It doesn't matter how far the road is in between.
In fact, it just saves the effort of queuing up to use the Floo network.
After all, there are points near the station, and if you are far away, you still have to take the Floo network home.
Only those students whose homes are near the station will walk home or fly home with their parents on their own.
As for some parents who will change their shape, distance is naturally even more meaningless.
They can even go to Hogsmeade Village to pick people up.
At first, everyone felt that it was a lot more convenient, after all, it saved everyone's time to go home.
But if you think about it, such a thing is a bit superfluous after all, after all, distance doesn't mean much to wizards.
Door key, shapeshifter, Floo network. There is always a way for them to ignore the distances that are far away for humans.
But the biggest benefit of such a rule is......
"Let's go," Luke said to Gemma beside him, and then to Hermione, "Let's go first, you stay safe alone." β
Hermione looked at Luke a little strangely, "Is your house so close?" β
This surprised her a little, because as far as she knew, Luke would still be some distance away from home even if he made it to King's Cross Station. This was what she guessed from the state they were in when they first met.
Although Luke seemed to be in good spirits at the time, the traces of a long journey alone could still be easily seen.
So now that Luke left early, something was clearly wrong.
Luke didn't answer directly, and smiled mysteriously, "Your home can be so close if you need to." β
After saying that, he left the carriage with Gemma.
Hermione saw them from a distance and walked towards the station hut.
According to Luke, there's communication magic there. It is used for students to contact their parents. There is also Floo Net, but it can only be used by students who have applied for permission.
Hermione felt that Luke's words must have meant something else when he left, so she frowned and thought about it.
After a long time, she seemed to understand something and shook her head.
"Is this guy Luke really doing the right thing?"
Hermione involuntarily muttered a few words, although she had a good relationship with Luke now, she gradually had such doubts.
Changing the world? Hermione didn't have such a lofty ambition right now. She hadn't even figured out what the wizarding world was like, and it didn't make sense to say anything like that now.
"yes, it doesn't make sense to say that now." Hermione sighed, how could she not understand Luke's thoughts when she was excluded by everyone.
Being excluded is sometimes not necessarily a bad thing. She could see that Senior Sister Gemma was also ignorant of some things. Because Luke gave them the option to get out.
"Let's see."
The clever Hermione found herself becoming more and more adept at judging the situation and some of her plans, and for a while she didn't know whether she should be happy or not.
If she were seventeen by now, she must have thought it was a good thing.
But now that she's only eleven years old, thinking about these things too early, will she lose her hair?
Hermione was in a state of worry for a moment.
On the other side, in the station cabin, Gemma looked at Luke with a somewhat subtle expression.
"What's wrong? Look at me like that? β
Luke said with a smile as he waved his wand.
"Actually, if you really value Hermione, you don't have to do it to this extent." Gemma won't pretend to be dumb at this time, because this kind of thing has nothing to do with her.
"I'm the same, as long as we're involved, a lot of times there's no other choice."
One wrong step, no turning back. Let's not talk about whether this step is right or wrong, but it is inevitable that there will be no turning back.
And Hermione's intelligence and potential, Gemma can see. She is not herself, but she may be better than herself. And Luke's value for Hermione is indeed very obvious. That valuable knowledge was left to Hermione to study, and there wasn't even much direction to guide hermione to develop freely. This kind of cultivation method can only be said to have extraordinary trust in Hermione's ability.
"I'm about to do something that you may not be disgusted with. But I still don't want you to be forced to join. β
When Luke heard this, a shallow smile appeared on his face: "Don't underestimate me too much. You are my chosen partners, and I don't want you to live under my control, so you will not be motivated to work. β
"I don't want to do everything in a big way, that's not my style. I trust you and I want you to be on your own. It's not just about being forced down this path. β
The smile on Luke's face was still there, but Gemma saw something different.
"No matter what the road ahead, there is always fear when there is no choice. It is respect for you to see something in advance and for you to make your own choices, and for my goals. β
Luke looked at Gemma, the desert in his eyes barely hidden: "And, to be honest, I would have done the same thing without you." β
"No one is irreplaceable."
The gentle and kind voice said such cold words, but it made Gemma breathe a great sigh of relief.
This kind of Luke is the Luke in her cognition.
Luke looked at her relieved look, but just shook his head.
Taylor needs trust. Hermione needed to agree. What Gemma needed was ruthlessness and ambition, which was beyond his expectations, but it wasn't completely exceeded.
It's better to say that for a large part, only if the boss is like this, they can put their minds at ease.
Such people are generally very capable, and they are not worried that the boss will not use them, let alone that the boss will not trust them. Where does trust come from using each other?
What worries them most is that the boss is not strong enough, decisive enough, or even ruthless enough.
Because such a boss, in some cases, can't go far.
On the surface, it doesn't matter whether it is righteous or noble, the real characteristics must be these.
Luke shook his head helplessly and didn't say anything more. These words were, of course, part of his thoughts. But that's only part of it.
I threw a handful of Floo powder in, and an emerald green fire erupted from the fireplace in front of me.
As if she had finally come back to her senses, Gemma said to Luke with emotion: "Your trick is really useful." As a result, the enemy has no way to block people at King's Cross Station, and our whereabouts are even more difficult to grasp. β
Although Floo Network is controlled by the Ministry of Magic, whether it is to link Floo Network or disconnect the link to Floo Network, it is just a matter of one sentence from the Ministry of Magic.
But here's the funny thing...... Floo Network cannot be tracked......
The story of Floo.com's shortcomings is that of the witch Violet Diliman and her husband Albert.
In the end, it's just a teleportation error, and then a witch and another man look at each other for ten thousand years.
However, this illustrates the fact that the Ministry of Magic is unable to track the Floo Network.
It's hard to say if the Ministry of Magic has figured out all the workings of Floo.com, or if it's just a switch. Everything left is a black box.
Luke inexplicably felt that the latter was the majority.
But now isn't the time to wonder if the research department of the Ministry of Magic is going to eat dry.
"Let's go, let's go and see what surprises the Lance family has in store for me."
With that, Luke strode into the emerald green flames, and when Gemma entered, he said his destination.
"Come to the Norse Hut."
Then there was a 'poof' and the two disappeared in the flames. The emerald green flames also reverted to an orange-red color, as if nothing had happened.
In the next moment, Luke and the others found themselves in a very dilapidated looking hut.
Gemma looked alert and walked to the table not far in front of her, wiping her fingers on the table, and her fingers were covered with heavy dust.
"It's been a long time since anyone has touched anything here."
Gemma looked at the surrounding furnishings and said, "It could be a trap." β
Through the crumbling walls, Gemma saw the woods outside.
The forest is so dense that it's hard to see what's hidden.
If there is to be an ambush, this is undoubtedly an excellent location.
The moment the ambushed person came out of the fireplace, he entered the ambush circle of the other party. Entering the woods can also be another trap for the enemy.
"Don't be so afraid." Luke stepped forward and shook his head at the wary Gemma and said, "Just stay by my side." β
As he spoke, the momentum on Luke's body suddenly sharpened. Gemma felt that her crisis warning was activated instantly, and a murmur appeared in her mind. In addition, before, it was like an electric stimulus, and it felt like a snake was burrowing into the head along the spine, and gently spitting snake letters inside.
And at this moment, the soft, not like normal footsteps sounded in the ears of the two of them.
Gemma clenched her wand tightly. Luke, on the other hand, glanced in the direction the voice was coming from.
"Crunchβ"
The rotten door was gently pushed open, and a humanoid creature appeared before the two of them.
