Chapter Thirty-Four: Young Master Crockett from Paris

The fury of the wasteland prepares for war with trepidation.

On the night of the Buffalo Bazaar massacre, he pinched his throat and shouted "Defeat America, Defend Mexico" a few times, and he didn't know if it was useful or not.

What he didn't know was that this little trick of his was purely self-comforting.

No matter how high his dodge was, the white man's iron fist still smashed at him at a strange angle.

……

El paso!

It is a fortress on the border between Mexico and Texas.

Five years ago, there was a battle here, where Mexican Indian mercenaries and Texas Indian mercenaries fought in the dark, with heavy casualties on both sides.

The Rio Grande could not hold so many corpses, and it caused a flood.

Five years have passed, and no one remembers the war.

In contrast, in the Alamo to the south, a war in which only a hundred people participated, but it has been remembered in the annals of history and has become a symbol of the founding of Texas.

The only difference between the two wars is that El Paso died all Indians, while Alamo killed more than 100 whites!

A man named Sam Houston, who did not participate in the Battle of the Alamo, but in subsequent propaganda, he also became a warrior of the Battle of the Alamo. He then led the Battle of San Jacinto, which captured the hapless president of Mexico.

With the power of muskets and printing presses, Houston became a great war hero!

……

Inside the fortress.

A middle-aged man in military uniform stood at the window, admiring the sunset over Monte Blanca in the distance.

The middle-aged man's body was a little fat, and the belt on his military uniform made him a little breathless.

He loosened his belt and unbuttoned it again.

There was a black man lying on the floor in the room, wiping the floor vigorously.

The rag and the floor make a 'squeak' sound.

The middle-aged man frowned.

"Tom, get out! You've made a noise to me! ”

The black man hurriedly put away the rag and hurried out.

When I went out, I met an officer, and the black man was knocked and fell to the ground. The back of his head hit the wall and blood came out.

He was frightened and hurriedly wiped the blood from the wall with a rag before he dared to faint.

The door slammed shut!

Inside the house.

"Neville, if you're so rude next time, I'll send you straight to your aunt!" The middle-aged officer, in the gentlest tone, said the most vicious words.

"I'm sorry, Uncle Crockett!" The young officer was taken aback, lightened his tone, and said, "The General Staff has received an urgent message, so I hurriedly sent it to you!" ”

"What kind of information is more urgent than the sun is about to set?" Crockett said.

He was the commander of the El Paso Legion, one of the three major legions of the Republic of Texas.

Unlike those rude and dirty Texans, he is from France, a place where the smell of tulips and wine floats in the air.

The Crockett family is the French aristocracy, although with the establishment of the Orleans dynasty, the Crockett family was expelled from Paris, but on the island of St. Helena, the Crockett family still has a descendant, accompanying the descendant of the emperor of the First French Empire.

Elegance and unhurried are the innate nature of aristocrats!

Even in this-ridden Texas, Colonel Crockett still thinks he's different.

Young Neville controlled his tone and told his aristocratic uncle in as calm a tone as possible.

"Last night, Captain Ford was ambushed at the Buffalo Fair, and the whole army was wiped out!"

Colonel Crockett was stunned for a moment.

His face flushed all at once, as if the setting sun had poured all its light on his face.

"What did you say?"

"Uncle Crockett—"

"Please call me Colonel Crockett!" Crockett suddenly yelled.

"Yes, Colonel Crockett!" The young Neville straightened up and handed over the information in his hand.

"Yesterday night, Captain Ford led a cavalry regiment of two hundred men to the Buffalo Fair to investigate the attack on Mr. Acheson, but he was ambushed by the Indians and the whole army was destroyed!" ”

Colonel Crockett's face turned hideous, and he snatched the information from Neville's hand.

His hands trembled.

After reading it once, I still didn't give up, held up that page of information high, and read it several times.

Neville quietly lifted his eyelids and saw his uncle Colonel holding the page aloft as if to bring him closer to the setting sun and set it on fire.

"Damn Ford! I really want to haul his body back and feed it to the dogs! Colonel Crockett cursed fiercely. Didn't the group of teachers at West Point teach him how to run for his life? He took Lao Tzu's two hundred cavalry, could it be that they were riding a herd of pigs? Won't the burning sticks in their hands go off? Stupidity! It's just stupid! ”

Enraged, Colonel Crockett rampaged through the house like a bull in heat, smashing all the vases, bookcases, and so on he came across!

"Neville! Grab our army and go bulldoze that damn Buffalo bazaar! ”

"Now! Immediately! Right away! ”

……

Neville stood still.

The setting sun struggled a little on the top of Mount Blanca and set.

The light in the room dimmed.

"Neville! You little miscellaneous donkey raised by BZ, why don't you hurry up? Crockett became so angry that he scolded himself. This nephew of his, who left Paris at an early age, was raised by his wife.

"Uncle Crockett!" Neville's gaze cast under his golden beard and he said slowly, "I think you should calm down first!" ”

"Calm down? How the fuck are you calm? Ford, that idiot, buried Lao Tzu's 200 cavalry! His stupidity will make the entire El Paso Legion a laughing stock for others! Lao Tzu can no longer raise his head in front of that old crow in Houston! ”

"The question now is," Neville said, "that it is an intelligence plot of the Mexicans—"

"Is Lao Tzu still afraid of Mexicans?" Crockett shouted, "That crow can catch their president, why can't I? ”

Crockett is talking about the unfortunate president of Mexico named Santa Ana when Texas became independent, and was captured alive by Sam Houston.

This incident became the laughing stock of the whole America, and also made Sam Houston a great name as a "war hero".

"—If we go to war with Mexico at this time—"

Neville's voice had a peculiar magnetism that allowed him to speak unhurriedly, even in the midst of Crockett's angry roar.

"War! War! War! Lao Tzu needs a war!" Crockett shouted, "This time, the El Paso Legion will fight in one breath until you see the sea to the east!" Let Louis-Philippe, the traitorous king, see the bravery of my Crockett family! ”

The expulsion of the Crockett family from Paris by the Grand Duke of Orleans, France, was the disgrace of the colonel Crockett's life!

He had vowed more than once that he would prove his martial prowess in the New World, and then lead thousands of troops and horses to fight back!

"—Mr. Lamar is preparing to run for president of the Republic of Texas next year, and if there is a war with Mexico at this time, it will only be cheap Sam Houston!"

After Neville finished speaking, he looked silently at his uncle, Colonel Crockett.

……

The angry bull snorted and panted, but could not find his opponent.

The room fell silent.

It's no secret that Sam Houston owned a 100-horsepower printing press, and he worked day and night to trumpet him as the greatest war hero in Texas.

If war had started at this time, then this 100-horsepower printing press could easily propel him to the throne for re-election.

Mirabeau Bonaparte Lamar, he was a gentle elder, a learned poet, and a respected old councillor. However, such a person will not be an opponent of the 'war hero'!

"What do you think, Neville!"

Colonel Crockett was silent for a long time before he spoke.

He began to look at his nephew earnestly.

After so many years of getting along, he felt for the first time that the young Neville Crockett actually looked a little like him!
