Chapter 286: Fudge's Decision
Ministry of Magic,
Office of the Minister.
The fireplace was blazing, filling the room with a gloomy red glow.
The heat in the room was suffocating, and Minister Fudge restlessly paced round and round around the closed window, looking in the direction of the door with each turn.
There was a knock on the door, and Fudge stopped and shouted impatiently, "Come in!" β
After the door was opened, a man with short gray hair walked in, and he bowed slightly, "Mr. Minister." β
"How's it going, Delix?" Fudge nervously asked, "Did you find Williamson, Eddie, and Crowbo?" β
"I was just in the Auror office and checked the Auror duty records." Dlux reported:
"They left the Ministry of Magic three days ago, saying that they had found Barty Crouch and were on their way to northern Wales to investigate."
"Traces of Barty Crouch?" Fudge muttered gloomily, "He's already dead at Hogwarts, how could he be in Wales!" β
Dlux was visibly taken aback. Barty Crouch...... He's dead? β
Fudge didn't answer, his eyes rolled away, and he fixed himself on Delix:
"John, you take a few Aurors to Wales at once, and you have to find them anyway, to see people in life and corpses in death, understand?
Just find them and I'll give you a promotion. β
"Yes...... Be! Dlux said excitedly.
"You stand down first." Fudge Road.
Dlux chucked his head away, the door closed again, and Fudge sat down in his chair with a deep sigh.
Williamson, Eddie, and Crowbo are all Aurors who went to Akazban but were attacked, according to Rove.
According to him, they had been transferred by the Death Eaters a long time ago, and now that they had run away with the East Window incident.
They went to Wales, did they run away?
Fudge didn't know, he just hoped it was just a coincidence.
At this moment, a turquoise flame suddenly burst into the fireplace, and Umbridge, dressed in a cloak, emerged from the flames and walked out of the fireplace.
When Fudge saw that Umbridge was back, he immediately picked up the wine glass from the table, filled it with mulled wine, handed it to her, and said:
"Dolores, it's been a hard day, drink some wine and warm up."
"Thank you, Mr. Minister." Umbridge snorted, took the glass, and took a sip.
"How's Azkaban?" Fudge asked impatiently.
Immediately after leaving Hogwarts, Fudge ordered Umbridge to rush to Azkaban overnight with the Aurors to verify what Rove had said.
"Those Death Eaters......" Umbridge said, sitting in her chair, clenching her glass, "they're still in Azkaban." β
Fudge was stunned for a moment, then exhaled a long breath and said excitedly, "I knew Crouch was lying...... He must be lying...... The Death Eaters did not escape from prison. β
With a trembling hand, Fudge picked up the wine bottle on the table, pulled the cork open, and he didn't pour into the glass, but took a long sip directly into the bottle.
Umbridge looked at the excited Fudge with a strange expression, and for a moment, she hesitated to tell him the truth.
But thinking of the two Aurors who were on her way to Azkaban together, she pondered for a moment, but said honestly:
"Mr. Minister, the Death Eaters are still in Azkaban, but they are all ...... He's dead. β
Fudge squirted the wine in Umbridge's face, coughing and panting.
Umbridge didn't bother to wipe the slimy liquid off his face, and patted Fudge on the back and said, "Don't worry, Minister. β
"Can I not be in a hurry?" Fudge grabbed Umbridge's hand and asked, "Are they really going to die?" β
"It's true, I saw the corpses of those Death Eaters in the mass grave behind Azkaban!" Umbridge said.
"How did you die?" Fudge couldn't believe it.
"The Dementors did it." Umbridge said, "The food source for the Dementors is all Azkaban prisoners.
When they were eating, the Death Eaters couldn't hold it anymore and died. β
"It's not just the Death Eaters, but many of the prisoners who have been held for more than a decade have died recently, and I have interrogated several prisoners in the Black Cell, and they have confirmed this statement."
Fudge was silent, he vaguely felt that something was wrong, but he reluctantly told himself that the truth was what it was, and that he should not think much about it.
After all, the other answerβwhat Rove and Dumbledore saidβwas a talisman for him, urging him to get off the stage immediately.
But he doesn't want to roll yet.
"So, there was no Death Eater mass escape at all." As if convincing himself, Fudge muttered, "Both Rove and Dumbledore have been bewitched by Barty Crouch's fake memories. β
"That's right." Umbridge chimed in, "The mysterious man is already dead, how can he stay on the Dementors and save the Death Eaters?" What nonsense! β
Fudge paced along the table to the window, which he opened.
By this time, the east had turned white, and the first rays of dawn shone down and wandered on his face.
Fudge looked out the window, his tired face, which had not slept all night, flickering and struggling, and finally he clenched his fist as if he had convinced himself:
"Dolores."
Umbridge shuffled closer: "Minister? β
"Write immediately to the Daily Prophet." Fudge says:
"Let's just say that Barty Crouch is dead, and that the Death Eaters of Azkaban rioted last night and tried to escape en masse, and under my strategy, they have already ...... All the ambushes! β
"You're going to send the fastest owl, and we'll be able to catch up with this morning's version!"
"Yes, Mr. Minister!"

The next morning, many Gryffindor and Ravenclaw students got up and habitually came to the window to feel the first rays of the morning sun.
When they opened the curtains and looked down from the tower, they suddenly noticed something extremely strange:
The Durmstrang magic ship, which had been docked in the Black Lake for almost a year, disappeared overnight.
And on the shore, piles of charred wreckage piled up, wisps of black smoke and pure white ash rising in the breeze.
The students who saw this scene were almost stupid, and even had a crazy thought:
That pile of wreckage can't be the Durmstrang magic ship, right?!
The news of Durmstrang's magic ship being wrecked spread as quickly as possible, and when the students arrived at the auditorium, almost everyone was discussing it.
There are even rumors that Durmstrang students have all died!
However, with Durmstrang students arriving at the auditorium together, this rumor was debunked.
But they affirmed another thing:
"The magic ship was indeed burned." Krum sat down at the Slytherin table with a gloomy face and said, "Last night a dark wizard used a fire charm on the ship......"
Hearing Krum's words, the entire auditorium suddenly fell silent, and many students who didn't know the fire were whispering, and after understanding its terrifying power, they immediately gasped.
"None of you died, but how lucky you are." Draco Malfoy couldn't help but sigh.
"It's not about luck." Leonie propped her chin with one hand, and said with palpitations: "It was someone who saved us last night, so we were lucky to survive." β
The girl said, thinking about the handsome young man who had fallen from the sky last night and helped her block the mast, and her eyes were foggy for a moment.
"Someone saved you?" Marcus Flint couldn't help but ask, "Who?" β
None of Durmstrang's students spoke, and they searched the auditorium as if looking for a savior.
This left the students at Hogwarts and Beauxbatons a little confused...... Is it that the Rescuer is among them?
At this moment, the door to the auditorium was pushed open, and Rove walked in, surrounded by Shirley with a black suitcase, Hermione with Crookshank Mountain in her arms, and the Fleur sisters talking and laughing......
The next scene shocked the students at Hogwarts and Beauxbatons.
All the Demstrang wizards stood up in unison and bowed to them from afar.
