Chapter 168: Supreme Vigilance

Sanqu Wing Building, Director's Office.

Fury used the director's authority to kick out all the staff on the first floor, and then turned off all the surveillance equipment.

Now he was the only one left on this floor.

After doing all this, Fury walked to a secret room.

After closing the door and making sure no one was eavesdropping, Fury walked into the small room.

The room is fan-shaped, clean and tidy, full of technology.

There was no mess in the room either, not even a single chair.

Fury walked up to a circular terrace in the middle of the room.

Just stood up~

Drip~

With the terrace as the center, linear blue lights spread out in all directions, and a virtual keyboard appears in front of Fury.

Fury's hands turned into afterimages on the keyboard, and then there was a soft sound, and the blue light in the room suddenly turned red, and flashed a few times sharply.

Airplanes~

Five minutes later, five virtual screens suddenly appeared on the curved wall in front of Fury, and five people with different expressions appeared at the same time.

Two of them had their chests heaving violently, and it was evident that they had just gone through vigorous exercise.

"Director Fury, what's going on? Why is the highest alert procedure initiated? Do you know what that means?"

On the second screen on the left, a reserved and dignified woman in her fifties with obvious freckles on her face looks solemnly at Fury standing in the middle.

Highest Alert Procedures.

The World Security Council has granted special powers to the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. authorities.

As a special worldwide organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. is responsible for preventing and dealing with crises that may endanger world security.

Under normal circumstances, S.H.I.E.L.D. is able to handle such crises on its own, as long as it reports to the World Security Council at regular intervals and is subject to monitoring and inspection.

But there are too many secrets hidden in this world, and many of them are not under the control of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the World Security Council.

The highest alert procedures are designed to respond to crises that could lead to a world-class disaster.

A world-class disaster is not something that S.H.I.E.L.D. can handle by itself, or by one country, and all forces that can be united must be united.

In fact, the World Security Council has learned the lessons of the first mutant war, and has given the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. special powers in response to this situation.

As of the time when the Supreme Alert Procedure was assigned to the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., this was the first time it had been activated.

The two panting ambassadors were in the middle of a meeting, but they were almost scared to death by the thing, and they ran for five minutes to finally arrive at the meeting venue on time.

The other three, although not as embarrassed as the other two, did not look good.

Facing the scrutinizing and questioning eyes of the five ambassadors, Fury did not hurry or slow, and said with a serious face: "Ambassadors, of course I know what it means to activate the maximum alert, but now the situation is imminent, and I don't think there is anything else to solve the problem."

"Fury, this is not a joke, S.H.I.E.L.D. has so much money every year, what problem can't be solved by S.H.I.E.L.D.?" One of the ambassadors on the far right reminded.

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Fury said expressionlessly, "The current S.H.I.E.L.D. is no longer S.H.I.E.L.D."

Fury's words caused the five ambassadors to frown at the same time.

"What do you mean?"

Fury didn't answer, but took out a small memory chip and plugged it into the console that had just risen.

"Guys, this is encrypted top secret information, and I'm going to explain the whole thing to you one by one."

Fury then explained to the five ambassadors what he had been secretly investigating, as well as Natasha's confession after she surrendered, and then explained everything he had investigated based on those clues.

It's been seven months since Natasha defected, and in those seven months, Fury has done all the research he can do without relying on S.H.I.E.L.D., but on his personal connections.

As Natasha said, the past few months have seen Hydra become more active, and the investigation is not as laborious as it used to be, but it still exhausts Fury.

As more and more information came into his hands, Fury's heart grew heavier.

The power of Hydra is completely beyond Fury's imagination.

If that alone wasn't enough to make Fury's sense of crisis so strong.

But with the mutant factor, he had to think the worst of the situation.

The abilities of mutants are weird and powerful, and he doesn't know what Aniya's situation is now, and he doesn't know how many mutants there are, let alone what their abilities are.

Faced with the void of knowing nothing, and with the experience of the first mutant war, Fury believes that there is nothing wrong with activating the highest alert.

After listening to Fury's explanation, all five ambassadors fell silent.

After a long time, the ambassador in the middle asked with a hint of anger, "Fury, these are just your speculations, what about the evidence? You know, once you decide to deal with Aniah, it's a war, a war that could draw the whole world into, and we can't agree with your speculation so easily."

For a while, the five ambassadors began to angrily accuse Fury.

"Yes, Hydra's power is indeed beyond imagination, but what about its purpose? You only said that they were active, but they didn't do anything to harm the world."

"We can't decide to go to war against Ania on your behalf."

"Once we tear up the protocol first, the mutants will have an even more excuse to take revenge on humanity, and we can't do that."

......

Fury had expected the reaction of the five ambassadors.

Until now, the word war had only come to Natasha's dead sister.

Hydra is active, but there is no direct evidence that they are ready to go to war.

When it comes to mutants, no one can easily make a decision without direct evidence.

Fortunately, Fury had anticipated this situation, and he had his own response.

I saw that he said unhurriedly: "Ambassadors, don't be impatient, in fact, if you want to prove this, it is actually very simple, send someone to Ania to find out."

The room suddenly became extremely quiet, and the five ambassadors looked at Fury like idiots.

Half loud, it was the female ambassador who spoke.

"Fury, the 'Forbidden Wall' is heavily guarded, mutants are extremely xenophobic, and since the 'Forbidden Wall' was built, no one has ever brought out any news, do you think you can get the information inside just by sending someone inside?"

Fury smiled slightly, "You guys can't, but mine can."

The five ambassadors looked at each other.

"Who is it?"

"X-Men, Director of Xavier's Academy of Gifted Geniuses, Professor Charles Xavier."

As soon as the words fell, the other ambassadors did not react, and the ambassador in the middle suddenly turned extremely unnatural.

Fury saw it at a glance and asked, "Ambassador Charles, it seems that you know this person."

The other four ambassadors were attracted by Fury's words and looked at Ambassador Charles in the middle.

That look made people know that there was something in it at a glance, although Charles quickly returned to normal, but who was not a human spirit present, that fleeting expression was still captured by them.

"Ambassador Charles, is there anything you need to explain to us?"
