Volume 1 Tarot Apostles Chap.3 Tarot Guardians
When the young man heard the door open, he also turned to face Lesna.
The black back hair is meticulously combed, only two strands of broken hair fall in front of the full forehead, and the elegant handsome face is inlaid with chocolate-colored eyes, and the eyes reveal an intellectual atmosphere.
With a white shirt with a black bow tie collar, a black suit vest, black trousers and black leather shoes, he stood in front of the window dotted with cherry blossom trees, and looked at Lesna with a smile on his face.
The man was quite elegant in both dress and temperament, Lesna thought to herself, and closed the door as she closed the room.
The young man walked up to her and kindly extended his right hand to her: "First meeting, Miss Lesna, my name is Bessengrett, if you find it inconvenient, you can call me Bessen." β
"I don't like this kind of superficial talk, Mr. Besson, I heard that you have something important to ask me to protect, which guy in the academy you want me to protect." With her hands in her pockets, Lesna brushed past Bessengrett, yawning and sitting down on the couch, her legs resting on the edge of the coffee table, her eyes shooting a slightly irritated look.
Seeing her attitude, Bessengrett did not show a gloomy, but a light smile appeared on her face, which was like the caring smile of the elders when they saw that the child was naughty.
"Okay, since you say that, then I'll get straight to the point." Bessengret walked up to her, looked down at her and whispered, "Congratulations on being chosen for the third queen, Miss Lesna." β
The words spoken in a tone as light as a feather made Lesna's heart feel an inexplicable void and fear, and her originally lazy expression instantly became vigilant.
"Who are you?! Why do you know I have queen cards?! Lesna immediately sprang up from the couch and looked at him with a wary gaze.
"You don't have to be so nervous, I'm the one who was chosen by the tarot cards just like you." Seeing that she was overly wary of herself, Bessengret took out a card of the same size from her bosom and showed it to her.
The card depicts a young man dressed in turquoise, with long blond hair and half-closed red eyes, with a very relaxed expression, holding a black magic wand in his hand, as if counting the gold cups, sticks, gold coins, and silver swords on the table.
Lesna's gaze shifted downward, and she saw that the pattern read: "1-Magician"
"What, it turns out that you are the same as me, I thought you were some kind of dangerous person." Seeing this, Lesna's tense nerves immediately relaxed, and she took out the queen card from her school uniform and showed it to Bessengrett.
"Oh, that's an overkill, I guess the monster that attacked you and Wallace yesterday was more dangerous than me, right?" Bessengret laughed and put the magician card back into his waistcoat.
"How did you know about this?" Lesna tapped her palm with her queen card, her eyes widening slightly.
"When the other members of the Tarot Guardian came to Wallace, he told them that he heard that there was a new Tarot Selector, and the Commander-in-Chief asked me to take you to visit our secret gathering place." Bessengret stood on his hands and explained to her calmly.
"Tarot Guardian Society...?" Wallace also mentioned this yesterday, and it sounded like a mysterious organization, Lesna guessed in her heart.
"You seem a little confused, if you don't mind, we can visit the secret base of the Tarot Guardian now, and you will be one of them from now on." With that, Bessengret walked to the door, opened it with one hand, and bowed slightly like a waiter, and made an inviting gesture to Lesna.
"I see, let's go." Seeing that Bessengret treated her politely, Lesna also restrained her sharp temper a little, put away the cards, put her hands in the pockets of her school uniform, and followed him downstairs.
The two of them came to a high-end black sports car one after the other, and at the signal of Bessengrett, Lesna opened the door and got into the back seat, and then Bessengret started the car, and the black car sped at a constant speed on the road with few vehicles.
The scenery of the tall buildings outside the window was constantly retreating with the forward and backward of the car, and the warm spring sun fell on Lesna, which made her feel extra warm, and suddenly she remembered something, so she hurriedly looked at the driver's seat: "Mr. Besson, is Wallace okay?" β
"He's resting at home now, and I'll tell you about him when I take you to the secret base of the Tarot Guardian Society." Bessengrett glanced sideways at her, then turned his gaze back to the front.
"What is the Tarot Guardian Society, Wallace also said that word yesterday." Hearing that Wallace was fine, Lesna leaned back in her chair with her hands on her chest.
"It's a secret organization established by people like you and me, who were chosen by tarot cards, and only the high-level departments of various countries and some selected high-level celebrities know about its existence, although there are not many members in the organization, but they all have people who can drive the magical power of tarot cards." With a slight turn of the steering wheel, the car turned to another fork in the road.
"I originally thought that magic only existed in the gods, but I didn't expect it to be left behind in modern times... Is this tarot card also a thing of the gods...? With that, Lesna took the queen card from her bosom again, and she lowered her eyes to look at the card.
"That's right, according to the literature, the tarot cards were made by the creator god Gela, who created twenty-two tarot cards and scattered them among the world, hoping that these cards would bring light and blessings to future generations." Bessengret replied slowly without looking back, and asked her rhetorically, "You also noticed, the card pattern is a historical figure from the book." β
"Yes, the queen card Catou is Fairany, the queen of the Moon King." Lesna pointed the card squarely at him, and Bessengrett let out a chuckle as she glanced in the rearview mirror.
"Tarot cards will choose their own historical figures to form card patterns, like my magician cardsβ" While waiting for the red light, Bessengret turned her head and showed the card to Lesna, "It's Ellen Jason, a great magician who was a household name hundreds of years ago." β
Hearing this name, Lesna's expression became a little excited, and her voice involuntarily became louder: "I know him! It is said that shortly after he married his wife, he received magical powers at the end of a performance, which took his already perfect magic performance to the next level, and gave him the title of magician of illusion. β
"That's true, and while we don't know if he actually has magical powers, the fact that he was able to be the carthu chosen by the tarot card is enough to show that he has that qualification." The red light passed, Bessengrett turned the steering wheel, and the car was back on the road.
As the car merged into a sea of vehicles and drove like an overflowing stream down the beaten track, Lesna looked up and saw a tall and slender tower standing on the top of the hill in the distance, looking new and technological.
"Mr. Besson, is that tower ββ?!?" Lesna immediately rolled down the window and poked her head out, the strong air currents blowing the window whirring, allowing her blonde hair to fly in the air, and her fierce gaze could not take away from the tower.
"Yes! That watchtower is our secret fortress! We're almost there, you can close your car windows! Bessengret replied aloud, and Lesna responded by raising the window.
When the car stopped under the tower, Lesna got out of the car and looked up at the tower that was soaring into the sky, and although there was only a hint of surprise on her face, there was already a surge of emotion in her heart: the tower was so high that it seemed to go straight to the place where the gods were.
She followed Bessengret into the tower, looked around, and saw that the hall and reception were empty, except for the interior lights that lit in silence, and the two glass elevators at the end, which could be called decoration.
"There's no one...", the silence of the emptiness made Lesna feel a little disappointed, and her mood calmed down because of this, the inside looked as solemn as the outside, but the furnishings were too monotonous.
The hall is so simple that there is not even a single potted plant, let alone those cute or handsome ornaments, not even magic-related accessories, is this really a gathering place for magic wipers?
"Only the Tarot Apostles can enter this place, and ordinary people can't find it without our permission." Bessengret strolled to the elevator and held out her finger to press the lift button.
"Tarot Apostles...?" Lesna asked, standing beside him, looking at him.
"It's the name of the person who has been chosen by the tarot cards." As soon as the words fell, the elevator stopped in front of the two of them, and after Bessengret walked in, he looked at Lesna: "Let's go, go to the top floor of the watchtower, where the conference room is." β
Lesna nodded and joined him into the elevator.
As the elevator slowly ascended, she saw through the glass the entire city of Cross, and Lesna looked at the horizon at the edge of the city, with an indescribable wonder in her heart, as if a new emotion was awakening from her body.
The emotion was as thin as spider's silk, but she could feel grandeur, joy and anticipation in it, like a fledgling that had just learned to fly, about to soar into the blue sky, and its heart was dyed with some almost manic joy.
After her mood calmed down a little, Lesna turned her head to look at Bessengrett: "Are the other tarot apostles like me?" Is it a student, or...? β
"There are students, there are workers, and they all live the lives of ordinary people." Bessengrett shrugged with a smile.
"In that case, you've seen all the Tarot Apostles except me?" The elevator stopped on the top floor, and the moment it opened, Lesna asked curiously.
"No, it's a pity that there aren't twenty-two people at the moment, I've only seen a few." Bessengret just stepped out of the elevator, stood on the red carpet, turned his head and looked at her with a slightly lost look: "Because some tarot cards don't show up at all." β
ββ¦οΌβ Lesna felt her breath stagnate for a few seconds, and she followed Bessengret as she made her way up the passage.
The two of them came to a majestic iron door with a classical atmosphere at the end, and she saw Bessengret wave her hand lightly, and the door slowly opened with a muffled sound, and the two entered the conference room together.
A large round wooden table with the smell of wooden utensils and a pure white fireplace engraved with golden stripes glittering in the morning light; Floor-to-ceiling windows face the tabletop.
The furnishings are very different from the first floor, and Lesna walks into the meeting room and looks around and finds the living parts: fruit paintings on the walls, coffee and tea utensils on the fireplace, and a pot of plants in the center of the round table, surrounded by glass bottles with origami stars and dried flowers.
She looked down on the table and saw a white nameplate written on it: 'Initial Seat - Fool'.
Well...? She looked to the right, and the name plate read: "First Seat - Magician", and on the left name plate read: "Twenty-first Seat - World".
This is the order of seating, Lesna immediately understood this, and found her seat: "Third seat - Queen", then she pulled out a chair and sat on it, supported her chin with one hand and asked Bessengret who walked to the floor-to-ceiling window: "The person who is presiding over your meeting is also the leader here, right?" β
Hearing this, Bessengret turned to look at her and smiled slightly: "Yes, I am the founder and commander-in-chief of the Tarot Guardian Society. β
"What?!" Lesna suddenly perked up, and immediately jumped up from her chair in fright, and she walked quickly to the bookshelf not far from Bessengret with an embarrassed face, and her tone became hurried: "Please! This kind of thing should be said sooner! β
But Bessengrett didn't speak, and still responded to her with a flat smile, which made her grin and scratch her head with her hands.
Ah, I can't stand this man, Lesna dodged her eyes and accidentally glanced at the bookshelf.
"Who Moved My Handcuffs", "On the One Hundred and Eight Ways to Beef Practice", "The Love Adventure Story of Miss Strange Thief and Mr. Knight"... When Lesna saw these strange titles, she couldn't help but wonder more and more about what kind of people the other tarot apostles were.
She was about to take a book with a normal title from the shelf when she heard the sound of birds and beasts flapping their wings outside the window.
"Lesna ββ!" Bessengrett's expression turned grim in the blink of an eye.
"It's coming!" It's a state of emergency! Lesna immediately ran to the floor-to-ceiling window and found three golden long-tailed monster birds flapping their wings towards them!
"That's... Warcraft?! Did it even appear during the day!? She frowned and exclaimed in disbelief.
