2. Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Part I)

"I'm here... Where is it? Liu Hongyu looked at everything around him and was suddenly dumbfounded.

He was playing F1 22 on his computer for several years when he was angry at smashing the computer because of a bunch of outrageous bugs, when he heard an explosion and suddenly his eyes went black, and then he appeared in the cockpit of a race car.

"It's... Mercedes' car? Am I Bottas? Liu Hongyu saw the black paint on the body and the eye-catching 77 on the steering wheel, and suddenly realized that he seemed to have crossed over.

Looking at the surrounding scene, Liu Hongyu, who is an experienced F1 fan, instantly recognized that this was Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.

"Host Liu Hongyu, you will compete in the 2021 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as Mercedes-Benz driver Valtteri Bottas, and you will have the level of Michael Schumacher, and your task is to help your idol Lewis Hamilton win this race to make up for your struggle. If you succeed in the mission, you'll be able to respawn and enter the paddock as an F1 driver, and if you fail, you'll die. Please concentrate on the game."

After that, Bottas and Schumacher's memories of the F1 race appeared in Liu Hongyu's mind.

"Looks like... I have to come," Liu Hongyu thought.

This race is different from what Liu Hongyu originally knew, Liu Hongyu will start in P3 (for the sake of convenience, only Liu Hongyu's name will appear below, but the team will still be called Vallteri on the call)

In Liu Hongyu's impression of this game, Verstappen will be overtaken by Hamilton at the start, and if he plays well, he may threaten Verstappen, at least so that he can be distracted to defend himself.

After the Radio Check, the warm-up lap began, and Liu Hongyu chose to draw the dragon in a rather exaggerated way, because the cars in the back of the geocentric group will be slower to enter the grid, and Liu Hongyu needs to make sure that the tires are in the best condition.

The five red lights were lit up one after another, and Liu Hongyu was engrossed in preparing for the start of the race, while putting his hand on the paddle shifters to prevent sudden downshifts from affecting the starting speed.

Five red lights go out and the game begins. Liu Hongyu started averagely, and the rear wheel was a little idle. Hamilton in front of him got off to a good start, overtaking Verstappen, who started from pole position, and Pérez, who started fourth, had good speed, basically to the right of Liu. However, Liu Hongyu's line is better, and Pérez can only choose to brake early to keep his position, and wait for a few laps to open up the front row before starting to work.

On the third lap, DRS turned on. In the first DRS area, Perez tried to make a move on Liu Hongyu, but because Liu Hongyu also had Verstappen's DRS in front, Pérez only narrowed the gap between the two people slightly.

Because Verstappen still has to pay attention to Liu Hongyu in the back, the gap between Verstappen and Hamilton is also getting wider and wider. When Hamilton managed to get into the lead, Red Bull Racing principal Horner quickly signalled for Pérez to hurry over Liu Hongyu in TR and let Verstappen start pushing hard to close the gap to Hamilton.

On the straight, Liu Hongyu was overtaken by Pérez with a rather extreme late braking to occupy about a quarter of the body and was overtaken in T1. Seeing this, Liu Hongyu also hurriedly followed behind Perez to suck his wake to avoid being pulled away.

And Pérez simply began to slow down and concentrate on defending Liu Hongyu. Verstappen in front also began to push.

Over the next two laps, Pérez blocked Liu hard, and Liu couldn't do much about it.

On lap 8, Liu Hongyu chose to start on the starting straight, took the outside line and braked late to occupy the position, and then stuck the inside line in the left hand corner of T5 to overtake Pérez.

And Pérez's counterattack on the big straight came immediately. Pérez turned on DRS and tried to get past Liu, but Liu Hongyu stuck Pérez's line with one hand to keep his position.

At the corner, Liu Hongyu deliberately took the outside line to let Pérez pass the inside line, but because it was a continuous corner, Liu Hongyu took the inside line in the next right-hand corner.

After overtaking Pérez again, Liu Hongyu came to the second DRS area of the track, but this time because Liu Hongyu's better exit and the advantage of the Mercedes engine directly threw off Pérez behind.

"Vallteri, super beautiful. Now push all the way to chase Verstappen, you're now three seconds behind him. The team engineer said in the TR.

It's just that Verstappen in front is not so easy to chase. Verstappen, who is equipped with red tyres, uses his driving skills to make up for the engine gap between him and Liu Hongyu with medium tyres to a certain extent.

On lap 15, when Verstappen's red tyres began to wear out, Liu Hongyu finally caught up with Verstappen within two seconds. Two laps later, Red Bull called Verstappen to pit for a tyre, and Liu took advantage of the opportunity to move up to second.

"Vallteri, start keeping the tyres for the next few laps and try not to let Verstappen overtake you before you pit stop. You're now 13.2 seconds off Hamilton. "The team engineer is passing the word in the TR.

"So you need me to get him out of a pit window?" Hearing the command, Liu Hongyu suddenly understood. The team wanted him to play the role of a wingman and pay tribute to the original Pérez... It's just that Pérez wants Verstappen to catch up with Hamilton, while Liu Hongyu has to let Hamilton continue to distance himself from Verstappen.

"Try it if you can, it won't be long before Verstappen catches up with you." After a discussion with team leader Toto Wolff, Team Engineer James Allison said

Then Liu Hongyu simply didn't do anything, and directly slowed down to charge the battery. Anyway, Verstappen will have to catch up sooner or later, so it is better to charge the battery that has only 20% of the power left, otherwise he will have to use old tires to prevent Verstappen's new tires when his battery is gone.

On lap 22, Verstappen caught up with Liu Hongyu within a second before S3, but because S3 was not good at overtaking, Verstappen could only choose to follow Liu Hongyu first and wait until the starting straight to start directly.

On the straight, Verstappen turned on the DRS and pulled directly from the outside, but Liu Hongyu stuck in position before the corner and did not let Verstappen overtake from the outside.

In the next two high-speed corners of T2 and T3, Liu Hongyu relied on the engine advantage to maintain the gap between him and Verstappen at about 0.7 seconds.

After passing the T4, a corner that did not need to slow down at all, Liu Hongyu saw in the rearview mirror that Verstappen had come to his left, so he stepped on the brakes, allowing Verstappen to pass the DRS detection point first, and then after T5 came out of the corner, he sucked the wake and turned on the DRS to pass Verstappen.

"Keep going, the longer you delay, the better." James said
