Chapter 5 The Benefactor of the Bronze Ring

There was a knock on the door, and I thought it was my grandfather back, so I opened the door.

Outside the door was a woman.

The white clothes are better than the snow, the sleeves are like clouds, the posture is slender, and the green silk like ink is naturally scattered behind. The most eye-catching thing is her pair of peach blossom eyes, which naturally reveal a seductive look when the eye waves turn, her eyes are clear and bright, revealing cunning and agility.

Just one look at me, and she chuckled.

Charming!

I asked her who she was looking for, and she said she was coming to me.

I carefully closed the door and asked her what she was looking for me. I don't know her!

She giggled and covered her mouth to be happy, but her voice was pleasant: "I didn't know each other before, but I won't know each other in the future!"

She took a step, seeing that she wanted to walk in the door, where would I give her a chance, and closed the door decisively with a "bang", as the so-called thing goes wrong, there must be a demon, I won't fall for you!

Turning my head, I froze on the spot.

The woman didn't know when, but she had already entered the door.

She was sitting at the table, lifting the chopsticks with her hands, lightly pinching the food into her mouth, her eyes were bent into crescents, and her satisfied smile seemed to flood from the bottom of her heart to her eyes: "Not bad, it's delicious."

I sat down and asked politely, "Come to me, what are you doing?" ā€

"Zhou You, is that what you say to your ancestral benefactor?" She changed her gentle appearance and asked me in a cold voice.

"How do you know my name?"

"What about you?" She played with the bronze ring that she had worn quietly around my neck and continued, "I know what every one of your ancestors is called. ā€

"My ring... Why are you there? Are you a human or a ghost? What do you mean by coming to me? I threw the question at her and reached for the bronze ring.

Her beautiful smile was thicker, her sly eyes were more playful, and she was obviously sitting, but suddenly she turned into a gust of wind and came to me in the blink of an eye. I threw myself into the air, and with one hand she slammed the door that had just opened the crack and closed it tightly again.

"I am your ancestral benefactor, without me, your ancestor would not have lived at all." She grabbed me by the corner of my coat and pulled me back, who had almost fallen into.

"Ancestor... Which one? I asked.

She thought for a moment, "Oops... It should be your grandfather, right? Anyway, after I saved his life, your Zhou family has worshiped me for generations until today. So if you ask me if I'm a human or a ghost, maybe I'm both. ā€

"That's—" I stammered.

"Huh?" She wondered.

"It's okay, stay for dinner. I did more, but I didn't expect my grandfather to come back yet. I beckoned and took an extra pair of chopsticks.

"Traveling..."

"Huh?"

"Don't you mind my presence? Invite me to a table for dinner, you are the first person from ancient times to the present. ā€

"It's nothing, it's a matter of more pairs of chopsticks."

I sat down, and she stared at me as if she were staring at an arrogant monster, a man with a bland, faceless face in the face of a tsunami.

"Did anyone say you're pretty cute?"

With a playful smile, her crimson figure dispersed into a gust of wind and drifted into the bronze ring around my neck.

I was stunned.

Until, I was woken up by a quick knock on the door, and my grandfather finally rushed back and asked me tiredly, did anyone come to the house just now?

"Just... No...."

I wanted to tell the truth, but when it came to my mouth, I couldn't help but lie.

"Let's eat! Traveling, my aunt had an accident. ā€

"Zhou Rong? No... What happened to my aunt? ā€

Grandpa picked up the chopsticks and landed on the edge of the plate, picked up his pipe and said, "Let's go see it tomorrow." ā€

"I'm not eating!" I jumped up, ran to my room, locked it, and was all in one go.

"This kid, waste a table of dishes," he muttered to himself, smoking a dry cigarette.

When I saw Zhou Rong the next day, she just broke her foot.

"I was playing with my colleagues, and somehow, the non-slip mat suddenly looked like it was lubricated, and I just..."

"Your own problem, don't blame the gods!" Grandpa said solemnly.

"It's not Dad, you're not me, how do you know it's not?"

"You were born to me! Can I not know? ā€

I didn't want to listen to their nonsense, I played with the bronze ring, observing the bronze material, and the ring was carved with a peach blossom mark, which looked very beautifully carved.

And most importantly, is the "ancestral benefactor" in it?

Thinking like this, I smiled so reassuringly that I didn't even notice it.

Back to your own home, lie down on the sofa in the living room. In front of the TV, there was a portrait of my dad and an incense burner, and I stared at his meaningful smile in the portrait, and some strange emotions came over me.

To this day, I still think my father is still there. I think he is just not at home, there is still a familiar smell at home, and life has not changed much. But when I saw his posthumous portrait, I was pulled back to reality.

Are you really gone...

I muttered to myself in a daze, took out three more sticks of incense, lit them and inserted them into the incense burner.

"'Benefactor', you come out!" I called out to her a little wistfully, I really needed someone to be with me for a while, just talking.

But there was no response.

I panicked when my home was quiet, and even the wind outside the window was whirling in my head like the roar of an airplane.

"Dad, you take care of me, 'benefactor', you come out, talk to me, why don't you respond to me?!"

I saw half a box of tea silk cigarettes left on the table, presumably from my father's quit smoking. I took out three and lit them and inserted them into the incense burner, lit one myself, and took a sharp breath, choking a nausea welling up in my heart and chest. With tears in my eyes, I couldn't help but take another breath.

This time, it's much better.

I finished smoking.

"What a thing, cow. Tomorrow I will buy you Xuanhemen and buy Liqun. ā€

In the portrait, he seems to be smiling.
