The character of the male protagonist Ritai was created by the fusion of the deeds of the two captains of the Wild Yak team, Jaysang Sonam Dajie and Chika Dzhaba Dorje.

In 1992, he founded the Western Working Committee of Zhiduo County, the predecessor of the famous wild yak team, he was deeply loved by the people during his tenure as deputy secretary of the county party committee, and worked hard for the poverty alleviation cause of his hometown Zhiduo County, and led four people to go deep into the harsh environment and bandit-infested Hoh Xil wasteland to investigate the current situation of resources 12 times.

On the night of January 18, 1994, Sonam Dajie was killed in a shootout with 18 Tibetan antelope poachers, and was hit by a bullet in the artery of his thigh, and his blood was sacrificed in the ice and snow at minus 40 degrees Celsius. After his body was brought back, he was cremated according to the specifications of the living Buddha, and the people of Zhiduo County spontaneously canceled the Spring Festival festival of that year to mourn him.

Chika Dzhaba Dorje, who was Sonam Dajie's brother-in-law, was a famous local hunter in his youth and had the ability to fight bears with bayonets. After Sonam Dajie's death, Zhaba Dorje asked himself to be demoted to two ranks, gave up the superior working environment of the state capital to come to the state-level impoverished county to govern, and took over the post of deputy secretary of the Sonam Dajie County Party Committee.

During his tenure, Zhaba Dorje recruited people from the society, rebuilt the Western Working Committee of Zhiduo County, and named his subordinate forestry police station "Wild Yak Team", with an average salary of 260 yuan per month, so as to carry out anti-poaching work in the 50,000 square kilometers of wasteland in Hoh Xil under extremely difficult conditions with basically no material support and no source of funds.

The Wild Yak team has achieved remarkable results, but due to the extreme lack of funds and the lack of administrative support, the wild yak team has resold the confiscated Tibetan antelope skins.

On November 8, 1998, Dzhaba Dorje was killed by a bullet from a 77-style pistol at close range in his right temple and pierced his skull.

Fang Yan's filming of "Hoh Xili" can be regarded as a disguised promotion for the wild yak team, so he has received their support and help.
