Chapter 71: The Old Man of the Messenger
After greeting the remaining guardians of the law in the temple, Leonard led him to a small, remote archive room behind the temple.
"Master Leonard, Your Excellency the Messenger is in the archives, you can show him the orders of your lord."
With that, the guardian of the law left on his own.
Leonard looked curiously at his surroundings, except for when he was a child, he and his family had come to the temple to pray for blessings, and he had not been to the temple once since he was a child, especially behind the temple.
The rows of low-rise buildings are particularly small against the backdrop of the tall temples in front of them, perhaps this is the self-perception of the servants of God.
The location of the small archive is interesting, and it must have been deliberately chosen, it is always in the shadow of the surrounding buildings, and it may be overlooked without the guidance of others.
Thinking of the various legends about the Night Watchman in the territory, Leonard also has a little hairy in his heart, growing up in the Savile Territory, Leonard was most afraid of the Night Watch when he was a child.
The family often used the Night Watchman to scare him, and it wasn't until he became a student of the lord that he really understood how true and how false the legend was.
Knock Knock Knock β
"Come in!"
A hoarse, unpleasant voice came from the archives, making people's scalps tingle, and Leonard hurriedly pushed the door in.
As soon as he entered the archives, Leonard felt as if he had entered another world, and he subconsciously looked back to see that the sunlight outside the door had stopped at the location of the doorway.
Inside, lit only by a few dim oil lamps, the shadows cast by the rows of bookshelves add to the eerie atmosphere.
Leonard followed the previous voice and looked over to a desk full of papers, and behind a desk full of papers, an old man with gray hair was buried in a scroll, as if he was recording something.
After taking a few steps closer, Leonard was really startled by the old man, his clothes and movements were normal, the only thing that was abnormal was that his exposed skin seemed to be dried up, clinging to his bones.
A pair of cloudy, godless eyes also make people sigh whether they can see the words on the scroll.
Leonard forced himself not to pay attention to the old man's inhuman appearance, took out a document from the dimensional pouch, and handed it over, "Your Excellency, this is the lord's order. β
The old man took the paperwork, glanced at it, put it aside, and replied in a hoarse and ugly voice, "Got it." β
After speaking, the old man stretched out his hand and pointed at Leonard, and a skull mark appeared on the back of Leonard's left hand, and then he lowered his head again and continued to write something on the scroll in front of him.
Leonard was startled by the old man's sudden movement again, but a sudden heat on the back of his hand drew all his attention, a mark that could be seen directly.
Leonard entered a state of concentration, and this mark shone brightly, with a few traces of holy power on it and the wisps of the magic web echoing each other, the structure was not complicated, it was a structure similar to the arcane imprint.
He can easily remove it if he wants to.
Of course, Leonard couldn't have done that, and he had already guessed that the mark was supposed to be the credential used to command the Night Watchman.
Just as he was about to ask where the night watchman was, there was some unusual noise near the bookshelves on either side of the archives, and as the noise continued, it got closer and closer to the middle aisle.
Leonard turned around and saw a nightwatchman covered in black robes coming out of the bookshelf aisle, followed by a second, a third, and a dozen nightwatchmen before him.
There was silence, but Leonard could feel that their "gaze" seemed to rest on the back of his left hand, Leonard turned to salute the messenger behind his desk, and then raised his left hand, pointing the skull mark on the back of his hand at the night watchmenβ
"Follow me!"
There was no answer, but Leonard knew that they could understand his instructions, and these undead creatures just didn't have normal human feelings, but not without normal human intelligence.
Otherwise, the realm would not have been able to use them as night watchmen.
When Leonard stepped out of the archive room, the sunlight shone down again, giving him a sense of rebirth and a deep awe for the Lord of the End of All Things.
He then went with the Night Watchman to track down the necromancer.
β¦β¦
Old Neil Inn, South of Savile Town.
Most of the adventurers were recruited to fight against the orcs, and the business of the old Neil's inn also plummeted, and there were no customers, but in order to maintain a good connection, the related expenses were not less than at all.
Just as Leonard was leaving the town with the twelve black-robed men, Old Neil also ran back from the outside, ignoring the surprised eyes of the guests downstairs, and went straight to a room on the second floor.
When he arrived at the door, Old Neil suppressed his voice, "Master Mage, Master Mage, there is news." β
The door was suddenly opened, and the middle-aged businessman-looking necromancer was sitting on a chair drinking tea, "What's the news?" β
"The Territory's Coyane left the town with the main force, and soon after, the Night Watchman also left." Old Neil hesitated for a moment, then spoke cautiously, "My lord, you areβ"
"Don't worry, I'm not going to make trouble in the town." The necromancer didn't care if Old Neil didn't believe it, and asked, "Is there any news of Lord Saville?" β
Old Neil shook his head repeatedly, "My lord, where can I find out about the news of my lord. β
"Huh." In this regard, the necromancer was noncommittal, and asked, "Do you know how many spellcasters the main force has brought?" β
"This-" Old Neil looked up, just in time to meet the necromancer's smiling expression, and a stirring spirit in his heart quickly told the news he had heard before.
The necromancer nodded in satisfaction, of course he couldn't have all the information he had obtained from Old Neil, but the others were not even as trustworthy as Old Neil.
After sending off old Neil, he immediately contacted a "companion": "We've all received the news, it seems that the incident should be true, our chance has come!" β
"Do you want to go to the Wolf God Mountain? It is certainly not an ordinary thing to make His Excellency the Archmage so attentive! The companion's voice was full of temptation.
"Do you know any news? If it's appropriate, let's take a look. The necromancer replied.
But there was no connection on the other side, and then the two half-truthfully discussed some plans for the next step, and tried each other many times, but did not get more information, so the interrogation was interrupted.
After interrupting the interrogation, the necromancer scolded disdainfully, "Idiot! β
Of course, it is impossible for him to be moved by the other party to snatch things from the archmage, but it is his chance that the high-end combat power led by Saville is gone with the archmage.
I believe that other people think the same way, if you are really told to go to Wolf God Mountain, you are an idiot!
