Chapter 16: Terrible Footprints
As the sky grew whiter, a ray of light shot into Leia's sleeping bag and shone on her rosy face. At this moment, a clear cry from the forest woke her up.
Leia opened her hazy eyes, and it turned out to be a fairy-like creature with a round face, large eyes, and piercing wings, like an elf in colored feathers, flying up and down outside the sleeping bag.
Leia yawned, stretched, and got up from her sleeping bag. She clicked the button on the dome of the sleeping bag, and the sleeping bag instantly returned to a small square the size of a palm, and she tucked it into her backpack.
Leia glanced at Drew, who hadn't woken up yet. She thought maybe he was too tired, so she waited a little longer and let him rest a little longer.
As the sky gets darker and brighter, the forest becomes more noisy with all kinds of creatures. Leia quietly admired all of this, forgetting for a moment that she was still in an alien world.
Suddenly, she noticed something, something seemed to be wrong on the ground. She stared at the nearby grass and found a series of large footprints. The footprints were 5 or 6 meters long and 6 meters long, overpowering a large patch of grass more than 1 meter high. These imprints have been leading into the distance, and this is also the direction in which Leia and the others are heading.
What a behemoth! Leia was pondering when she was tapped on the shoulder. She nervously turned around, and it turned out to be Drew, who had crept up and stood silently behind Leia.
Leia gave him a blank look, "You can scare me." ”
Drew smiled embarrassedly and asked curiously, "What are you thinking?" Why keep staring below? ”
Leia pointed to the footprints on the ground, "Look over there..." ”
Drew was surprised when he saw it: "This... This... What is it? Could it be the footprints of some animal? ”
Leia nodded and said, "I'm afraid so." ”
Drew felt a chill down his spine when he heard this, and he was speechless for a while.
Leia broke the silence: "No matter what, we still have to keep going, be careful." ”
The two of them packed up their things, slid down from the vines, and continued in the direction of the ship.
They followed the footprints for more than 20 kilometers and saw a forest leaf that covered the sky and the sun. Drew pushed them aside, and his vision widened. What unfolded in front of them was a wide river, and the blue waves seemed to be calm, like a jade belt slowly flowing downstream. And those huge footprints also disappeared into the river.
The two stopped on the shore to take a break. Leia looked across the river, but she couldn't see it clearly, only the looming shoreline, which she estimated to be at least 50 kilometers wide.
Leia faced Drew and said helplessly: "We don't have the equipment to cross the river, and it is impossible to swim across the other bank." We had to find a vehicle to cross the river. ”
Drew looked around, then at Leia, and pointed to the forest behind him, saying, "Is there any other choice but to use them?" ”
Over the next few hours, Leia and Drew used laser knives to cut through several stout branches and vines in the nearby forest. Then they used vines to tie the thick branches side by side on the shore and tie them firmly. In this way, a simple and primitive raft is ready.
Leia and Drew worked together to push the raft down the river, and they leaped up. The two tried, and the raft was still steady. So they each grabbed a piece of wood as an oar, and they rowed together toward the opposite shore.
