Chapter 2 Yixi: Curses and Blessings
The weather was cool at night, and at Sheldon's request, all orcs had to bathe in the creek next to town. Merlin was a kid anyway, so Sheldon sent him to monitor the orcs from a distance, and in case something unexpected, he allowed Merlin to take them back. He repeated several times that he should not unleash his magic power casually, he wanted to see the living orcs return.
Merlin nodded vigorously, he knew exactly what he had to do. It's a good time to test his ability to go back in time in front of these orcs. He can trace the source of the timeline to look into the past, and this simple and crude ability can only be used by Merlin, who has obtained a certain amount of time power.
In fact, most of the orcs were captured to make up the numbers, and Merlin and Marquez went out together, which was naturally very efficient. Those who had been involved in the orc rebellion were captured at different times, and the most recent one was two or three months ago.
"They were able to escape outside for so long." Marquez lamented from the bottom of his heart, "I eat the garbage left over by others every day, and there are grassroots wild vegetables everywhere." โ
"Orcs are very physical," Nightmare said, "they can digest almost anything they eat, and these guys are not much different from real beasts, except that they have some physical magic and can say a few words to show that they have a bit of intelligence, but there is actually nothing special about it." โ
"Don't you judge all flesh creatures by the nightmare set." Mรกrquez was speechless, "In that case, humans are just bald monkeys." โ
"Humans use magic and pose some threats to us." Merlin said, "Don't use this ability for too long, your spirit will be tired." โ
"I always feel that it is not much different from the memory of the last time I looked at neem." Mรกrquez manipulated the child's body, blinked, and the chains in his pupils that kept looping disappeared into nothingness.
"First of all, you can get other people to open their souls to you, and it is impossible for ordinary intelligent beings to let you touch their memories so easily." Merlin said angrily, "That wolf orc with the power of fate on his body is by the river, you can take the opportunity to go over and have a look." Don't use your strength anymore, try talking to him. โ
"Why?"
"Memory is not the same as words, and memories can be faked, but words will always enter your ears." Nightmare said, "I've seen quite a few humans with fake memories, but I just didn't tell you. It's not easy to close your soul, but it's not impossible. โ
Merlin stood up, and the lawn by the river grew happily, covering the boy's calves. As he walked, grasshoppers jumped out of the grass one after another, making a rustling sound.
Lu didn't take a bath and chat with ordinary orc prisoners, and in the cold moonlight, he grabbed a handful of grass as a cleaning cloth, cleaning the mud and dirt on his body little by little. The fur on his body clung to his muscles, revealing the silver sense of power in his body. Lu's lips were tightly pursed, and the clothes on his body had been simply washed, floating shallowly above the river.
He grabbed his clothes with one hand to keep them from drifting away, and with the other he began to clean the back of his neck. There happened to be a cloud in the sky that obscured the moon that was missing a corner, sucking up all the silver light. The glowing river suddenly darkened. Merlin saw the wolf-orc tie up the long string of hair on the back of his neck and gently lifted it.
It was a mark similar to the one on Neem's chest, except that it was four pale yellow circles that landed on the back of Lu's neck, and these four circles were just enough to be hidden by the long hair on the top of his head. Merlin wanted to get closer, but the wolf-orc seemed to have spotted him, and his head was pointed in his direction, his face as cold as the moon in the sky. The cloud soaked up the moonlight and drifted away slowly. The moonlight hit Lu's face, brushing silver paint on his gray-black face.
"Why are you here?" Lu's voice was the opposite of Lin, soft and calm, "Leave." โ
"I've seen orcs like you," Merlin blinked, "can you tell me what these patterns are for?" โ
Lu glanced deeply at the little boy in front of him: "This is a curse, don't come near me, otherwise you will become like me and end up like this." โ
"But it has nothing to do with the power in you, does it?"
The expression on Lu's face immediately changed, his eyes frowned tightly, and he actually showed a wary look to a little boy: "What do you want to do?" โ
"You didn't tell the other prisoners in the carriage about it." Merlin opened his hands, and a flower as black as ink leaked between his fingers, "Are you afraid that they will find out that you have this thing on you?" โ
"What the hell are you trying to do!" The hairs on Lu's neck all exploded, and the four rings behind him actually radiated an incomparable light!
The river around the wolf orc burst apart, drops of silver gleaming water floating from their fingertips, and soldiers lined up behind them. He stretched out his right hand, and the floating droplets behind him quickly slid in front of him.
"I didn't expect orcs to use magic too." Merlin's tone was full of surprise, "I don't have any ill will towards you, I just want an answer." I was just thinking, if you carve these things on orcs that resemble magic patterns, won't you be able to use magic? โ
"What the hell do you want to do......" The wolf orc straightened up, and swung his right hand to his side, and the water droplets in the air turned into spinning bullets, crackling and hitting the grassy river, splashing a large pile of soft dust.
"I've seen orcs like you, and his lines are on his chest." Merlin didn't believe that these droplets could hurt him in the slightest, "You don't need to be on guard, I just want to talk to you." โ
Merlin snapped his fingers, and the clothes in Lu's hand floated up out of thin air, and then quickly dried in the air, and landed on the grass by the river with a clatter.
"By chance, I read the memories of that orc. He doesn't seem to be very well received by his kind. "I just want to know why this is happening, and there is no other malice." โ
The wolf orc was still frozen in the river, his chest heaving violently, his piercing eyes glowing a deep blue glow in the moonlight. Not far away on the riverside, there was the whispering of orcs bathing, and the wind rustled through the lawn.
"You ......" the light behind the wolf orc flickered a few times before extinguishing, "Whew...... Whew......"
It seems that this ability has drained his energy a lot, and in just a few minutes, his body has been covered with a layer of hot sweat. The water droplets suspended in the air clanged and fell into the slowly flowing river, and disappeared with the depressing hostility of the land.
"I told Lin earlier, I'll help you." Merlin smiled and said, "We're not in the same league as those people, we're just hired people." I just wanted to hear an answer that there really is no ill will towards you. โ
Lu gasped, he groped for the stones in the river, and slowly sat down by the river: "This is a blessing from God, but it is also a curse. The sign on the back of my neck not only gives me strength, it binds me to his destiny the moment I meet a particular person. In the eyes of many people, this is to ruin their lives, and they are afraid of coming into contact with us. โ
"Actually, most of the people you meet aren't the people you're looking for, are they?" Merlin sat on a lawn above the land.
"Well, I don't know when I'm going to meet that person. No, maybe not even people, because I've heard people of my own tribe say that there are even people and animals...... When I meet the destined 'thing', I fall in love with her, but she can't fall in love with me. Because the contract of this link is one-way, the other party can also abandon me. But I can't leave her...... That's what someone else told me. โ
"Is there any solution to this curse?"
"Nope. If the object of my destiny dies, then I will also die. If I die, the other party will only feel relieved. Lu laughed self-deprecatingly, "If they knew that I was a cursed person, they wouldn't have recognized me as the squad leader." โ
"It's not fair." Merlin smacked his lips, "If others don't want you, do you want to follow her all the time?" โ
"Yes. You can only be a ......dog behind someone else," Lu said, "but there are also people who have never met it in their lives, and they live this life as ordinary clansmen." I haven't met it yet, so I'm very lucky. โ
"Really...... Is your ability to manipulate water? โ
"Yes, but only for a short period of time, and there are a lot of restrictions."
"Well......" Merlin looked into the distance, the time should be about the same, "Alright, we should go, you get up and turn your back to me." โ
"Oh, oh......" Lu became a lot more honest at this time, and his sturdy body occasionally revealed a cute temperament.
Merlin's fingertips lit up slightly, and he snapped his fingers, and the hair on the wolf-orc's whole body exploded, both the tips of the hair and the moisture in the depths of the hair burst out one after another. In just a few blinks of an eye, Lu's body became dry and brisk.
Lu sniffed his body, there was indeed no moisture at all, but there was a faint fragrance of grass. I don't know how this little guy did it.
"Boy, you ......" Lu turned his head and put the pants at his feet on his waist, only to find that the little boy from before had disappeared.
This kid seems to have shared meat in the car before. Lu naturally licked his lips, his ears curled up, and his brow furrowed slightly.
He heard the sound of horses' hooves not far away, very compact, even to the point of panic. A shrill whistle rang out, piercing the quiet night, like a slender sword, piercing the still-quiet campfire.
Lu leaned down, he was ready to run in the most primitive way so that he could get back to the camp as fast as he could.
