Chapter 1 Longxing Taiyuan Fleeting glory
"Nine days open the palace, and all nations are crowned." This poem is written in the Tang Dynasty, the prosperity of the sea and the concord of all nations. But who knows that the beginning of the Tang Dynasty was due to a cuckold incident?
But whenever there is a change of dynasty, there are no more than the following reasons. One is natural disasters; The second is man-made disasters. The common people of the Chinese dynasties were very simple and indisputable, as long as they had a bite to eat, they would never do stupid things like killing their heads and losing their heads. Unless you really can't live anymore, and Hengjian is dead, you will take risks and rebel revolutionarily. Therefore, once there is a drought, flood, locust plague, the land is cut off, and the people have no food to eat, it will cause great turmoil and even overthrow the regime. Just like the drought at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, which caused thousands of miles of extreme poverty and no grain of rice on the land, it detonated a peasant uprising.
Compared to natural disasters, man-made disasters are completely avoidable. However, the last ruler of each dynasty is often either extremely vicious, or arrogant and lascivious, changing the toss of the law, until he gives up a great river and mountain to others. Just like Hu Hai, the second emperor of the late Qin Dynasty, who connived at the eunuch Zhao Gao to bring power to the country, he finally lost his deer, and easily cut off the foundation created by his ancestors for eight generations. If the First Emperor knew about the ground, he would probably be so angry that he crawled out of the coffin.
Fleeting splendor
The fall of the Sui Dynasty was a purely man-made disaster.
Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty inherited from his father, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Jian, a unified empire. Emperor Wen Yang Jian was an eloquent monarch whose rule brought an end to more than 300 years of division between the two Jin dynasties. But what he never expected was that the foundation he had worked so hard to lay would be over, just like the Qin Empire, when it reached the second Yang Emperor Yang Guang.
In fact, Yang Guang is not the first heir, and the earliest crown prince ordained by Emperor Wen of Sui is Yang Yong, that is, Yang Guang's elder brother. Compared with Yang Guang, Yang Yong is still a more reliable person, he is generous, honest and affectionate, but he is not very good at pleasing his parents, and there are close ministers who often blow the yin wind in the ears of Emperor Wen of Sui and light ghost fires, so Emperor Wen of Sui gradually became suspicious of the prince.
There is a small thing, Yang Yong once added a piece of his armor to the ornament, which is a very small thing, which is equivalent to the current basketball player putting a headband on his head before going on the court, which has no practical use, just to play a pretending effect, but his thrifty father Sui Wendi is not happy.
Emperor Wen of Sui said to the crown prince Yang Yong: "Little Yongzi! You are a prince, you should be frugal, since ancient times, there is no one who likes luxury and can last for a long time. I have old clothes and old swords, as well as pickles and a jar of soybean paste, you keep it as a souvenir, take it out when you have nothing to do, remember the bittersweet memory, think about how difficult it was for your father and me! ”
All the officials, Yang Jian is the king of a country, the whole world, the king's land, the whole world is owned by people, just such a master who wants anything, and he is so frugal, it can be seen that Yang Jian is really a qualified ruler.
Emperor Wen of Sui's wife, Queen Dugu, has a very powerful family, whether it is Sui or Tang, her family is a prominent nobleman. And she's also a staunch proponent of monogamy. When Emperor Wen of Sui and Queen Dugu got married, they solemnly swore not to have children with other women. Emperor Wen of Sui may love his wife very much, or he may be very afraid of his wife, or he may be very loving and afraid, otherwise how could a man who controls the world make such an incredible oath?
Queen Dugu also has a terrible hobby, and her desire to control is particularly strong, she monitors the words and deeds of several sons at any time, especially in the husband and wife life of her sons, it can be said that she has reached the point of perversion. She supports monogamy and also wants her sons to inherit her good qualities and love from the beginning.
The crown prince Yang Yong could not meet the harsh requirements of the queen's mother.
Yang Yong is the crown prince and the first heir of the Great Sui Empire, and it is almost an impossible task for a person with such an identity to only make him loyal to an original concubine.
Yang Yong has a lot of favored women and has given birth to a lot of children, but his mother is not favored by the original partner Yuan who married him, and did not give birth to a sister-in-law for him, which makes his mother Queen Dugu very faceless, so she often sends people to monitor him and find out his faults.
Yang Yong, who was not a weapon in the eyes of Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu, was soon replaced by another person. If this person didn't appear in the history books, you would definitely think that he graduated from the Chinese Opera Performance Department, and this person was Yang Guang. The reason why I say this is because Yang Guang is really good at acting. Yang Guang's acting skills are now in full swing, and he will definitely kill Wu Moumou, Lu Moumou and other small fresh meat and the like.
After Yang Guang, the king of Jin, discovered his hobby of the emperor's father and the queen's mother, he began his wonderful performance. First of all, he secretly hid all the beauties, only lived with his original concubine Xiao, pretending to be innocent and had few desires, and he didn't dare to raise children in the harem. When his father and mother came to his house, he left only the old and ugly palace people, dressed in simple clothes, changed all the screen tents to white silk, broke the strings of the instruments, and sprinkled them with dust, to show that he did not like vocal women. This made an excellent impression on his confused parents.
Yang Guang not only tried every means to show benevolence and filial piety in front of Emperor Wen of Sui, but even the ministers and close attendants who were in power around the emperor, he also stammered wholeheartedly. Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu sent people to Yang Guang's mansion, and Yang Guang and Concubine Xiao must greet them respectfully at the door, not only to treat them with good wine and food, but also to prepare a small gift when they go back. Of course, this gift is enough to impress these close ministers of the emperor and add fuel to his praise.
Yang Guang's performance is perfect, coupled with the fact that he is very handsome, smart and calm, writes well, and often publishes articles in small newspapers and magazines, which earns him enough eyeballs and wins a good reputation from top to bottom.
But a good reputation is not enough, because although the prince is not treated well by his father and mother, he has not made any big mistakes.
Yang Guang watched Emperor Wen of Sui Emperor Yang Jian getting older day by day, and the prince followed the rules again, if this development continued, the emperor's throne would still fall steadily under the prince's ass. Since you don't make mistakes, then I will make mistakes for you, in order to reach the pinnacle of power, for the throne of imperial power, what brotherhood, what flesh and blood affection, I must bring you down, there is no room for the slightest!
Yang Guang served as the governor of Yangzhou, and when he wanted to return to Yangzhou, he needed to resign to the queen, and he took advantage of this opportunity to play Yang Yong's book ruthlessly, and framed Yang Yong for his life. This kind of brotherly frying palace affair made Queen Dugu feel deeply chilled, and she said to Yang Guang: "Yang Yong, a little rabbit cub, actually wants to kill his own brother!" I'm not dead yet, he dares to be so arrogant! I'm going to die, and he's not going to eat you all like fillets? Mother and son hugged each other and cried.
Yang Guang's killer move completely strengthened the queen's determination to abolish the crown prince. His ass seemed to have felt the temperature of the Emperor's throne.
Yang Guang, an outstanding young talent, has everything ready to ascend to the throne of the prince, and only the east wind is owed.
Although Emperor Wen of Sui and the Empress Dowager both had the idea of re-establishing Yang Guang, the abolition of the crown prince is, after all, a major national event, and it cannot be done hastily. At this time, Yang Guang used his thick black means again, and bribed Yang Su through Yang Yue, the younger brother of Yang Su, the most favored minister of Emperor Wen of Sui, and asked him to pour dirty water on Yang Yong. At the same time, he bribed Yang Yong's favorite ministers to secretly collect the prince's mistakes and report them to Yang Su.
As a result, invisible poisonous arrows shot at the crown prince Yang Yong from the shadows.
Emperor Wen of Sui Yang Jian was besieged by various gossip, and finally couldn't stand the crown prince Yang Yong. In October 600 AD, Yang Yong was deposed, Yang Guang was renamed the crown prince, and the prince's close ministers were killed and exiled.
Yang Guang finally got his wish and ascended to the throne of the crown prince. Soon, he began to perform unscrupulously.
In August 602 AD, Queen Dugu died, Yang Guang this kid in front of the emperor and the palace people, showing grief, crying and grabbing the ground after a performance, turned back to his own room, immediately big fish and meat to eat, and the same talk and laughter as usual, not the slightest sadness.
You must know that Queen Dugu is the mother who helped him ascend to the throne of the prince! Yang Guang's lack of affection is really embarrassing. Looking at his performance at this time, it is not surprising that he will do unbelievable things in the future.
In February 604, Emperor Wen of Sui Emperor Yang Jian went to Renshou Palace to escape the summer, but began to feel unwell in April and became more ill in June. At this time, the hideous side of Prince Yang Guang began to be revealed.
After the death of Queen Dugu, Emperor Wen of Sui did not have the supervision of the tigress by his side, and he could finally pamper other beauties. When Emperor Wen of Sui arrived at Renshou Palace, he was accompanied by Xuanhua's wife Chen and Ronghua's wife Cai. After becoming seriously ill, Emperor Wen of Sui summoned several important ministers to serve in the cabinet, and summoned Yang Guang to live in the Great Treasure Palace.
Yang Guang's stay revealed the nature of animals.
When Emperor Wen of Sui Yang Jian heard this, his lungs were about to explode, and he scolded: "How can this beast entrust him with national affairs? And said a very unforgettable sentence, "Dugu's old lady, you have missed my big thing!" ”
Although Emperor Wen of Sui was seriously ill, he was not confused, and he was still the emperor of the Great Sui. When he realized that he couldn't entrust the country to Yang Guang, a rebel, he immediately thought of the deposed former crown prince Yang Yong, and said to his close minister Liu Shu: "Call my son?" ”
Liu Shu was a little stunned and said, "The prince is outside, I'll call him in!" ”
Emperor Wen of Sui said: "I'm talking about Yong'er, Yang Yong!" Liu Shu went out immediately.
What Emperor Wen of Sui didn't expect was that his most trusted minister, Yang Su, betrayed him at this time and told Yang Guang about it.
Yang Guang did something bad, afraid that his father would know and blame, and he was nervous, and when he heard that his father was going to find the abolished prince back, he was so frightened that he didn't know what to do, and hurriedly asked Yang Su for advice.
Yang Su's old traitorous ministers were slippery, and he worked in various routines of Gong Dou, fooled Yang Guang for a while, and gave him an idea to make him hypocritical.
Yang Guang knew that he had committed a crime, and he could ask Emperor Wen of Sui to depose his crown prince a hundred times. The palace struggle is the result of your life and death. Once it fails, it is not a question of whether the prince's position can be preserved, but whether the head on his neck can be stable! He used all kinds of vicious means to pull Yang Yong off the horse, and Yang Yong now wants to chop him into meat slices and eat him raw. If Yang Yong replaces himself as the crown prince again, what will happen to him? Yang Guang shuddered when he thought about it.
This is the sorrow of being born in the family of the emperor, either struggle or perish! There is no choice, there is no retreat, on this ship, you have to go on without hesitation!
Yang Guang looked at Yang Suyin's cunning eyes, and the yin was hinting to him that we had no choice.
Let's go! There is only one way to retreat! Forward, is the pinnacle of power.
Although Yang Guang was mediocre, he immediately made his choice in this life-and-death matter - the false edict arrested Liu Shu, Yuan Yan and other ministers, and locked them up in Dali Prison. The guards of the East Palace replaced the guards of Emperor Wen of Sui, and all the palace maids in the harem were driven away, and his henchmen were transferred to control Renshou Palace.
Emperor Wen of Sui was still in the dark at this time, not knowing that the sky had changed outside.
Seeing that the deployment was in place, Yang Guang called his right concubine Zhang Heng and asked him to serve the emperor. This Zhang Heng is not the Zhang Heng who made the Chaotian Instrument, and the right concubine is equivalent to the secretary general of the Prince's East Palace.
When Yang Guang was leaving, he whispered a few words in his ear, and Zhang Heng took the order and hurried away. Not long after, the news of the emperor's death came. In the middle of the song, only the parties are clear.
Mrs. Chen, who had been by Emperor Sui's side, heard the news of Emperor Sui's death, and her face changed in fright. In the afternoon, the crown prince Yang Guang sent a messenger to bring a small box, and the seal was affixed to the gap on the top of the box, and the prince's signature was affixed. Mrs. Chen looked at this locket and thought to herself, "It's over, retribution is coming!" It must have sent poison to extinguish the mouth! ”
Yang Guang ascended the throne as the crown prince, and he was still very frightened in his heart. After all, in the end, when Emperor Wen of Sui was seriously ill, he wanted to summon Yang Yong, and there could only be one purpose for summoning, that is, to re-establish Yang Yong as the crown prince, and all those involved in this matter were tacitly acknowledged. The reason why Yang Guang took the lead was because of the geographical advantage, so as long as Yang Yong lived, it was a potential threat to his throne.
So, the first thing Yang Guang did when he became emperor was to send Yang Su's younger brother Yang Yue back to Chang'an, change the people who stayed behind, and claim the edict of Emperor Wen of Sui to give the old prince Yang Yong death. Just strangled Yang Yong like this.
Emperor Wen of Sui Yang Jian was completely bewitched by the people around him in the matter of establishing a prince, especially Queen Dugu played a great role, she intuitively denied Yang Yong only by her own good and evil preferences, and belonged to Yang Guang, which made the entire Sui Dynasty fall into the abyss of eternal disaster, what Queen Dugu did, fully interpreted an eternal truth, "The old ladies are in charge, and the house collapses!" ”
Yang Yong is still relatively reliable, he has a generous temperament, is very honest, and there is no false whitewashing in the major affairs of the court and politics he participates in. Yang Yong is just a little vain, and he has no particularly obvious shortcomings. If the throne had passed to Yang Yong, the Sui Dynasty might have been a different story. But history does not assume that the fate of the Sui Dynasty has since embarked on a road of no return.
How did Yang Guang lose this huge family business?
This also starts with Yang Guang's character, Yang Guang is not only cruel and lustful, raping his father and wife, but also very happy, doing things with pomp, in an easy-to-understand sentence, is love to show off. It is estimated that he has been pretending to be a grandson in front of the emperor's father for a long time, and suddenly there is no restraint, and he can let himself go at will, which turns the depression and depression into an intensified revenge show-off.
If Yang Guang is a second-generation official or a rich second-generation, no matter how he shows off, it will not affect anyone, and let those who are jealous and envious of him scold, "This SB and his father is Li Gang, he is a cheat!" ”。 But Yang Guang is different, he is the helmsman of an empire, and every decision he makes will be magnified countless times through the "butterfly effect" and spread to every corner of the empire.
Let's see what Yang Guangdu has done, right?
The first is to requisition and mobilize people's strength and build construction on a large scale. At the beginning of the reign of Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty, he continued to build palaces, and built many flower gardens, garden pavilions and palaces in Liangjing and Jiangdu. In the process of building the eastern capital, more than 2 million servants were recruited and transferred every month. You must know that in the early years of Emperor Wen of Sui, the population was less than 4 million, and in the last years of Emperor Wen, that is, when Yang Guang succeeded to the throne, the population had exceeded 8.9 million. In just one month, 22 percent of the country's population was requisitioned.
The Tongji Canal was built, and more than one million people were requisitioned and transferred before and after.
Hangou was opened and more than 100,000 people in Huainan were mobilized.
The Great Wall was built and more than a million men were mobilized.
The Yongji Canal was opened, and more than one million troops were mobilized. There were not enough men, and women began to serve as slaves. Even women were sent to labor, which shows the large amount of work launched by Emperor Yang of Sui and the number of servants used.
From Chang'an to Jiangdu, Yang Guang built more than 40 individual palaces. Because the officials supervised the labor very strictly, nearly half of the ten servants died in the forced labor, and the carts loaded with the dead were all over the road.
Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty opened the Grand Canal, which promoted the integration of the north and the south, and played an immeasurable role in both political influence and economic benefits. Even the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty can be attributed to a large extent to its inheritance and improvement of the canal system. But his unrestrained abuse of people's power has also brought endless disasters to the lives of ordinary people.
The second is to be overjoyed, arrogant and lascivious. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty built the West Garden in Beijing, more than 200 miles around, the interior is the sea, covers an area of more than 10 miles, on this water surface, built several mountains, more than 100 feet above the water surface, pavilions and pavilions, extremely extravagant and gorgeous, Yang Guang likes to ride horses and thousands of palace maids to visit the West Garden on a moonlit night.
In order to tour the Jiangdu, Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty sent Wang Hong to the south of the Yangtze River to manufacture tens of thousands of dragon boats and other ships. The largest of these ships was four stories high, forty-five feet high, and two hundred feet long. One zhang is converted into meters to 3.33 meters, that is, the length of this big ship is nearly 700 meters, and there are 120 rooms on the middle second floor alone. In the Sui Dynasty at that time, such a behemoth was no less than an aircraft carrier. Every time Yang Guang traveled, these boats were connected back and forth, more than 200 miles long. There were more than 80,000 rowers alone.
In order to make the emperor's chariot and sit on the throne, the queen's honor guard, and the ceremonial clothes of hundreds of officials, various states and counties paid tribute to all kinds of feathers. During this time, anything that had a little beautiful feathers was basically extinct. There is an incident recorded in the history books, which reflects the sick psychology of people at that time: there was a very tall tree in Wucheng, and there was a crane's nest on the tree, and in order to get the hair of this unlucky crane, several ordinary people were ready to cut down the tree. The old crane on the tree saw that the tree was about to be cut down, and thought to himself, "This is going to destroy my family!" Let's just be more interesting! So the old crane plucked his feathers and threw them on the ground, so that he was spared. More than 100,000 people participated in the production of public uniforms and honor guards alone, and the money spent was calculated in hundreds of millions. Every time the emperor travels, the guard of honor covers the sky and the sun, stretching for more than 20 miles.
Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty was extremely extravagant and flashy, each of which consumed a lot of manpower and material resources. His father's fine tradition of hard work and simplicity has long been thrown out of the sky by him. How ironic this is compared to Yang Guang pretending to be a displeased image in front of Emperor Wen and Dugu back then!
The third is to go on an expedition to Goryeo. During the reign of Emperor Yang of Sui, he launched three wars against Goryeo, all of which ended in failure. In order to prepare for war, the ruler mobilized the people to transport rice and grain to the front line, and more than 600,000 coachmen transported three stone rice in groups of two, because the road was too far, and the rice transported was not enough for two people's rations. Fearing punishment, these coachmen ran away. Because there were too many people to recruit, the fields were uncultivated and mostly barren. In the year of the disaster, coupled with the greed and cruelty of the officials, corruption and exploitation, the common people had no food to eat, and the time of death was imminent.
Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty was cruel and murderous. In 603 AD, Yang Guang suppressed Yang Xuangan's rebellion, and he said to the minister Pei Yun: "There can't be too many people in the world, and if there are too many, they will gather together as thieves, and these rebels must all be killed." Under his instructions, Pei Yun killed more than 30,000 people related to Yang Xuangan at one time. When Yang Xuangan besieged the eastern capital, he opened a warehouse to release grain and help the people. Yang Guangqian was angry with the people, and issued an edict that all those who received grain should be buried alive in the south of the capital. This practice is undoubtedly very brutal.
In the later period of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, the territory of the Great Sui was full of wolves, the world was in turmoil, and the empire was increasingly controlled by countless local rebels. In the summer of 616 AD, Emperor Yang of Sui left officials in charge of ruling the north, and he toured south to Jiangdu and never returned to Kyoto. In 617 AD, his two grandsons were proclaimed his heirs by the rebels, and Emperor Yang of Sui became known as Emperor Taishang. In 618 AD, he was hanged in the palace of Jiangdu by his minister Yu Wenhua. This Yu Wenhua is a descendant of the Northern Zhou royal family that his father replaced, and the death of Emperor Yang of Sui is exactly the same as the way he killed the former prince Yang Yong, they were all hanged, probably this can be regarded as a kind of karma.
