Chapter Seventy-One

Knock knock

The knock on the door without warning in the early morning of the next day made the slime killer, who had been slowly relaxed, nervous for a moment.

And he squirmed to the foot of the bed as fast as he could, and was about to get into the escape passage he had prepared a long time ago, when he heard the timid boy's voice outside the door:

"Is this Mr. Graeme's house, I'm the brother of the girl who was in the black market on West 3rd Street before......"

Outside the door, which was ordinary to the point of being almost sour on the outside, but with a metal reinforced interior, a chestnut-haired boy who was only as tall as a doorknob was waiting with a sad face.

The ragged garments, most common in the slums of Rebelion, barely fully covered his bony body.

As a result of malnutrition, a thirteen-year-old boy is only seven or eight years old.

However, children born in slums are lucky to live to this age......

There was still no movement in the house, and the boy who had been waiting for a while hesitated and glanced at the eyes not far away, intentionally or unintentionally, and the thugs of the underground forces swept from his side still gritted his teeth and knocked on the door again.

When the boy was on the verge of despair, he was finally pleasantly surprised to see the door open in front of him.

"Is it the kid who used to pick up the car and beg?"

Behind the door came the husky voice of an elderly man.

"Yes, yes."

Hearing the question, the boy nodded desperately.

"Where's your sister?"

The boy who put his finger to his mouth gave a long whistle, and the little girl who heard the sound at the mouth of the alley not far away poked her head out and ran to her brother's side.

She was about two or three years younger than her brother, and her clothes were shabby but not ragged, and even though she was as unkempt as most of the slum children were, she could tell at a glance that she was a very delicate little girl when she walked down the road.

"If I'm not mistaken, those people should be looking for you again, right?"

The little girl, who heard the sound coming from inside the house, hid behind her brother with some fear.

"You're right, someone came to the door after that day......"

The boy added, in a tone of helplessness and anger and determination:

"But even if I die, I will never let them take my sister to do such a thing!"

The situation of this group of siblings is probably the most common example in the slums of Leberion, with a father whom they have never met and a mother who has worked hard to raise them and who died when the elder brother was ten years old......

With the help of selling everything that was so shabby that it could not even be sold in the shack, and with the help of the few well-wishers in the slum who were not much better off than theirs, they barely survived for another two years, and then began to live by begging and petty theft a year ago.

The process is probably in the streets outside the slums, where the poor sister comes up to the city and complains that begging attracts the attention of passers-by, and the nimble brother takes the opportunity to touch anything that can be sold for money on passers-by.

There was probably nothing wrong with this process, and even if it didn't work, the elder brother could basically pull his sister and run away, using his familiarity with the slum roads and his nimble skills to get rid of the pursuers.

But after he missed that day, his sister fell while escaping......

The thief they had chosen that day was apparently a man of identity, and after catching the two crappy little thieves, the man noticed his sister's unusual face in the pauper.

"If you do something wrong, you have to pay for it"

The man smiled playfully as he let them go.

At first, the boy thought they had run into another tolerant passerby, but they were about to run back to the slum when they were stopped by another passerby.

"This man won't let you go easily." The emaciated old man said something that made them very uneasy, "This address you will need......"

After saying the address in the slum, the old man, who didn't explain anything, turned and left.

And the next morning, the brother and sister, who were about to go back to their old jobs, were blocked by two members of the underground forces of Reberion.

"Boy, your sister is lucky, a passing merchant is willing to hire her as a maid, hurry up and pack her things and let her go to the merchant's house."

The member of the underground force, who was well-known in the streets near the slums, waited at the entrance to the shack where they lived, waiting for the girl to pack up her things and leave with them.

The boy's instincts, who had dragged his sister to live independently in the slums for three years, told him that things would never be as simple as the two members of the underground said.

So he reluctantly let the two members of the underground force leave on the grounds that his sister was in a special period and her health was particularly weak, and the boy began to look around for news about the businessman.

It was not difficult to inquire about the merchant who was also quite wealthy in the whole of South Lyphus, and soon the boy learned of some of the merchant's unspeakable and disgusting habits.

The girls who were hired as maids by that merchant were all young without exception......

And they were invariably heard from soon after they were hired, and many could guess the results of the girls, and even many of the businessmen had done with evidence.

The judiciary in Reberion has a choice between large taxpayers and slum girls who can't provide any tax revenue.

The merchant still walked in the sun, and no one saw the slum girl who had dreamed of becoming a maid.

Knowing all this, the boy was determined to save his sister from such a fate, but with the presence of the two members of the Reberion underground, they could not even escape the slum even half a step.

"So you can help us escape from Rebeline?"

The boy, who had said all this in one breath, wanted to see through the crack in the door and see the old man in the shadows behind the door who had promised to help them.

"I can help you get out of Rebeline, but you have to know that everything in the world has a price."

"I can pay any price, as long as you can save my sister from falling into the clutches of that merchant, and live in this world freely and happily in the future."

Through the ragged shirt, the boy with his ribs tamped could be clearly seen, and he replied without hesitation.

"I'm willing to pay any price."

"Brother!"

Hearing his sister's pleading, the boy pursed his lips without wavering.

"Is this the responsibility of being an older brother? In that case, I will satisfy you......"

"Got you!"
