Chapter Seventy-Two: Placing the Basilisk
"Sylvanus, are you sure you're not kidding?!" Professor McGonagall pursed her lips and looked at Professor Kettleburn who was stepping on the basilisk, her expression very angry.
"Putting such a dangerous thing in the Forbidden Forest next to Hogwarts Castle, in case it escapes and makes the students have a good time, will you be responsible? Or do you think that 62 probations are not enough, and you want to break the record you set again? β
Professor Kettleburn laughed wryly, pretended not to hear, and lowered his head to himself and began to study the basilisk's body again.
"This is an absolutely rare species, I really didn't expect to see a basilisk in my lifetime." He looked at the basilisk in amazement and said to himself, "I have the impression that reptiles like snakes and geckos don't have eyelids, but the basilisk can close its eyes because of its natural ability?" β
Professor McGonagall glared at the professor's old thorn in the chair when she saw Professor Kettleburn back to work on magical beasts, and then turned around to join Dumbledore and Dracula again.
However, the moment she turned around, Professor Kettleburn slid off the basilisk with an agility that was very incompatible with his physical condition.
"What a mistake, forgetting that Minerva is still here." He muttered quietly, then put on his crutches and limped to the door.
As he reached the door, he seemed to remember something, and looked back at Dumbledore's place.
"Albus, we'll discuss where we can place the basilisk in the Forbidden Forest next time Minerva is away!" He shouted.
Professor McGonagall was so angry that she chased after him in three steps and two steps, ready to ask Professor Kettleburn for an explanation.
Professor Kettleburn saw her follow, pounding on the ground with his cane and speeding up his walk.
The two elderly men left the room with an extremely vigorous pace......
In the blink of an eye, only Dracula and Dumbledore were left in the room where the Mirror of Eris was, standing in place, staring at each other.
Knowing the personalities of the two old men, Dumbledore came back to his senses first, paced up to the green basilisk, and gently stroked its cold scales.
Although Quirrell used some small tricks to get the Ministry of Magic to send Dumbledore an urgent letter, he was able to lure him away from Hogwarts. But he didn't know that Dumbledore, even in the Ministry of Magic, was always paying attention to the scene in the castle, especially in the forbidden area.
After Dracula chased Voldemort away, Dumbledore had Phoenix Fawkes carry him back to Hogwarts Castle in order to prevent the basilisk from being left alone in the room. Then he knocked the basilisk unconscious, making it temporarily become the harmless and quiet appearance it is now.
That's why Professor Kettleburn climbed onto the basilisk, but it never responded.
"So...... Is this basilisk the monster that Slytherin left behind to guard Hogwarts Castle? Dumbledore looked at Dracula and asked curiously.
"That's right." Dracula bowed his head slightly, "I should have thought of a magical beast that could survive for nearly a thousand years, and at the same time have strong abilities, probably only a basilisk." β
He snapped his fingers in front of the basilisk and woke it up.
The basilisk opened its eyes in a daze, and as soon as it opened its eyes, it saw the silver-haired demon standing in front of it, and it was so frightened that it subconsciously closed its eyes again, and shrank into the corner of the wall, coiling itself into a large mass of indescribable things......
"Professor Dracula seems to be familiar with the basilisk." Dumbledore watched the basilisk behave and laughed happily, "Oh, I almost forgot, you're an old Slytherin acquaintance, and it's not surprising to know his pets." β
Dracula smiled and nodded. Immediately, he suddenly thought of something, and his expression became a little unnatural.
Dumbledore had just mentioned that the basilisk was a Slytherin's pet. This made Dracula suddenly think that he had forced the pet to use his innate magic non-stop and used up its magic many times in order to have fun...... Is it a Slytherin pet?
Thinking of this, he patted the basilisk's head lightly, and subconsciously made his movements gentle.
The basilisk felt Dracula's different slap on the head, and couldn't help but be a little flattered, and rubbed Dracula's hand with his head obediently with his eyes closed.
In addition to being a little bigger than 100 million in size, the current basilisk seems to have really become a domestic pet.
"Dumbledore, do you have any ideas on where to place this basilisk?" Draculamo looked at Dumbledore with the basilisk's cool, sleek head and asked, "Is it really like Professor Kettleburn said to put it in the Forbidden Forest?" β
"It's better to forget about it in the Forbidden Forest." Dumbledore waved his hand decisively, "Even if you don't care about the influence and conflict of the basilisk on the native species of the Forbidden Forest, but at least you care about one other thing-"
"I've always known that there are a lot of daring students at Hogwarts who sneak into the Forbidden Forest, and it's still too dangerous to put a basilisk that kills people with their eyes if they're not careful."
"So you knew the students would slip into the Forbidden Forest?" Dracula raised an eyebrow at him, his gaze strange, "I thought the announcement you said at the opening banquet that you were not allowed to enter the Forbidden Forest was just a joke. I've never seen you mind this. β
"Ahem, the occasional adventure helps to develop the courage, creativity, and resilience of the little wizards." Dumbledore coughed dryly and explained, "So I don't usually stop an expedition on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest, when it's safe to do so. β
"But how can you be sure that those naughty bags won't go to the depths of the Forbidden Forest?" Dracula asked.
"Rest assured, there are corresponding protective magic in the most dangerous areas of the Forbidden Forest, and the little wizards can't enter." Dumbledore smiled and blinked, "If they did enter the dangerous area, it must have been me who let them through." β
Listening to the second half of his sentence, Dracula couldn't help but pout and stuffed a blood-flavored lollipop into his mouth boringly.
He'd almost guessed that Harry Potter and his companions were going to be guilty againβ
When the time is right, the old headmaster will secretly turn on the protective magic in the Forbidden Forest for this destined savior, and acquiesce in his adventures into the more dangerous depths of the Forbidden Forest, so as to cultivate his so-called courage, creativity, and adaptability, and test his heart.
And this kind of long-term layout and cultivation, Dracula finds it most boring.
He silently patted the basilisk on the head and changed the subject.
"Since you don't put it in the Forbidden Forest, do you have any other ideas?"
