Chapter Ninety-Four: The Redemption of Kreacher
"Ahem, Kreacher, that wall trim won't be used again." Regulus said embarrassedly, "After today, even if your life comes to an end, we will no longer hang your heads on the wall."
"Huh?" Kreacher seemed a little disappointed, and said sharply, "But...... But Kreacher's biggest dream was to cut off his head and stick it to the plaque, as my mother did. This is the highest honor for the house-elves of our Black family!"
Regulus held his forehead, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the eyes of Dracula watching the play behind him, and felt a little embarrassed.
"Kreacher, it's not good to cut off the head of a house-elf." He tried to explain to Kreacher, "It's disrespectful and irresponsible to you."
"Master Regulus, Kreacher has done something wrong, you are not happy with me." Kreacher continued to speak aggrievedly in his unpleasant voice.
Then he seemed to think of something suddenly, and jumped to his feet.
"It occurred to me that Master Regulus must be blaming Kreacher for not destroying that abominable locket!" He shouted.
[To tell the truth, I've been using @
His eyes lit up as his hand touched the height of Kreacher's shoulder, and he stabbed his hand into the void at the same timeβ
Dracula's slender fingers seemed to penetrate the space and disappeared into the living room of the Blake house. Then he pushed his elbow back with a slight force, retracting his fingers from the other side of the space.
He was holding in his hand the neck of a house-elf with wrinkled skin and an ugly face.
This is Kreacher, who had just apparitioned away!
Kreacher looked at the familiar living room, and seemed a little confused.
However, the next second he was thrown out by Dracula.
"Regulus, hasn't your house-elf been bathed in decades?" He slapped his palms in disgust and glanced at Regulus, "Kreacher is covered in mud, especially in the folds of his skin, I suggest you wash him well later!"
At this time, Kreacher finally reacted and climbed up from the floor of the living room.
"You...... You are an evil demon, and you should not be brought into the Blake family!" There was a mixture of fear and horror in his eyes.
At the same time, he shuddered and took two steps back, trying to escape with the illusion again.
Seeing this, Dracula raised his hand and shook it, and Kreacher was instantly restrained on the ground by an invisible force, unable to move at all.
"You two devils, kill me!" Seeing that he couldn't resist, Kreacher simply closed his eyes and said as if he were dead, "I won't hand over what Master Regulus exchanged for his life when I die!"
Looking at Kreacher, who was "in peace", Dracula looked at Regulus with a smirk.
"Your house-elf says you're the devil!" He laughed.
Regulus also shook his head helplessly, came to Kreacher, and crouched down.
"Kreacher, I really am your young master Regulus." He whispered to Kreacher, "Open your eyes and take a closer look, don't you really recognize me?" It's going to make me very sad."
Kreacher had no intention of opening his eyes, but tears were streaming down the corners of his eyes.
"I saw it with my own eyes...... Young Master Regulus is dead, and he has been dragged into the lake by countless Yin corpses...... It's all my fault, I can't save Master Regulus......" he sobbed loudly, "but even if he is dead, you will not let him go, and he will be impersonated by you despicable, lewd, cruel devils to deceive him of what he has exchanged for his life......
β¦.
γβ¦β¦ I won't let you succeed!"
Regulus smiled helplessly, sat cross-legged on the ground, and looked down at Kreacher's ugly face.
"That's it, Kreacher." "I'm just sitting here and telling you the story of what I've been through together since I was a child," he said gently, "so that you don't doubt who I am."
Without waiting for Kreacher to respond, Regulus recounted his own story.
He told it very carefully, as if these stories were not told to Kreacher, but slowly recovering those faint memories of his life.
"I remember that I was the youngest child of my parents and I had a rebellious older brother. Growing up, my rebellious brother loved to work against his father and mother, and even broke the Blake tradition when he joined Gryffindor House after he entered Hogwarts."
"I knew how angry my parents were with my older brother and what they expected of me as a young son, so I tried my best to be obedient to them and try to live the way they wanted me to be. Because I know that's how I can make my parents happy."
"Then I got to Hogwarts, and living up to my parents' expectations, I got into Slytherin House. In my sophomore year, I became a Seeker for the Quidditch team in Slytherin House and beat the Gryffindor team hard, which made my Gryffindor brother very shameful."
"When I wrote to my mother about it, she was happy for a long time, every time she saw me and my brother
will be angry with him about it. My parents also told him, 'Regulus is a better son than he is, and I've always been proud of that.'"
Kreacher's raging tears gradually stopped, and he pricked up his ears and listened attentively.
"Everyone knows these things, and you can't prove that you are Master Regulus with these things." He muttered, but his heart had begun to waver a little.
"That's good." Regulus chuckled, "Then I'll tell you something that few people know about."
"I've always admired the Dark Lord since I was a child, and I have shared his ideals of pure-blood. And I did a good job, and before I graduated, I received a Dark Mark that he had personally bestowed upon me. After graduating, it was only natural that I joined the Death Eaters. I'm proud of it."
"But I later learned that I was still too young. In reality, the cruelty of the Death Eaters is completely different from what I imagined......"
"At first, I thought that the Death Eaters wouldn't torture Muggles and hemp wizards as they did later, and that everyone followed the Dark Lord only for their own bloodlines and powers. But then I found out that under the influence of the Dark Lord, everyone has become cruel, extreme, and violent...... I didn't know it was wrong, but I didn't have the courage to resist."
"What really made me decide to betray the Death Eaters was the moment the Dark Lord tried to kill you."
Regulus looked at Kreacher in front of him and said in a low tone.
"You respected my orders so much, because I told you to remember to go home after completing the Dark Lord's mission, so you returned home with all the strength you had left...... Kreacher, I'm sorry for pushing you into that abyss with your own hands."
β¦.
"No, Master Regulus, you don't ......" Kreacher finally opened his eyes, weeping bitterly.
"Don't worry, listen to me." Regulus smiled at him with relief, "After listening to what you told me, I became suspicious that the Dark Lord was so sure that he wouldn't die. I've seen Horcruxes before, and his performance confirms that the locket is his Horcrux."
"The Dark Lord is too arrogant to think that no one would know about this advanced magic, and he doesn't believe that a young man like me, who is not yet twenty years old, knows about it. That's what gave me the opportunity to swap out his Horcruxes......
At this time, Kreacher, although unable to move due to Dracula's confinement, was already unable to cry.
"You...... Can you tell me that you were in a fake locket...... Did you write anything?" He sobbed and said, "That's just ...... Only Master Regulus and Kreacher know......
Regulus smiled.
"To the Dark Lord...... he read slowly, "I know I was dead when you read this, but I want you to know: I discovered this secret of yours, and I have taken the real Horcrux and will destroy it as soon as possible."
"I'm willing to die for you, a mortal of flesh and blood when you meet your opponent."
γrββaββbβ¦β¦γ
Regulus read the last three letters word by word, and Kreacher finally burst into tears.
"You...... You really are Master Regulus!" Kreacher suddenly felt like he could move, he stood up and slammed his head against the corner of the table next to him, "Kreacher...... Kreacher dared to doubt the identity of Young Master Regulus, Kreacher was more than innocent!"
Before he could hit the corner of the table, however, he was embraced by Regulus's cold arms.
Although the body of the Yin Corpse was very cold, Kreacher felt that this was the warmest moment in more than ten years......
Dracula looked at the "warm scene" in front of him with disgust-
A handsome yin corpse and an ugly house-elf cuddle together.
He shrugged his shoulders, walked to the sofa in the living room boredly, drove away a few foxes that were hatching eggs under the sofa, used the vanishing charm to remove a nest of dead fluff from the sofa, used the cleaning charm to clean the sofa inside and out, and then lay down lazily.
"Now you have few Regulus
No longer a devil?"
Dracula poured himself a glass of red wine and asked the two men with a smirk as he shook the glass.
The two people who hugged each other realized that there were still guests in the living room and stood up awkwardly.
If it weren't for the fact that the skin of the Yin Corps and the house-elves did not change color easily, I am afraid that they would have blushed like the skin of a salamander by this time.
"Kreacher, this Master Dracula is the one who saved me from a walking dead state." Regulus introduced Kreacher, "He's my savior."
Kreacher hurriedly bowed deeply to Dracula, his head almost touching the ground.
"Master Dracula is Master Regulus's savior, so he is also Kreacher's savior! The Blake family welcomes Dracula's arrival." He said earnestly.
β¦.
"Your face is getting pretty fast." Dracula took a sip of the wine and said with interest, "I was screaming from the devil and the devil just now, but now it is beginning to welcome me."
Kleeche scratched the back of his head.
"Alright, go get Voldemort's Horcruxes." Dracula said, "I've been waiting for a long time!"
"No problem, Master Dracula!" Kreacher nodded, and disappeared in place with another "thud".
But there's no need for Dracula to pull him back this time.
Less than two minutes later, with another "bang", his figure appeared in the living room, still holding an oval locket.
"Master Regulus, Master Dracula, this is what Master Regulus bought with his life at that time." Kreacher handed the locket into Regulus's hands, his expression sad again, "I've tried many, many ways, but I can't destroy it."
"Kreacher is a useless house-elf!"
When Regulus heard this, he hurriedly grabbed Kreacher to prevent him from thinking about it again and doing something like "grabbing the ground with his head" again.
"Kreacher, there's no need to blame yourself, Horcruxes are indestructible dark magic objects." He reassured, "Even if I were to do it, I wouldn't be sure to destroy it."
Dracula looked at the locket in Regulus's hand, and the corners of his mouth curled with interest. He placed the goblet on the low table next to him and held out a hand to Regulus.
"I'll take a look."
Regulus didn't hesitate, and naturally handed the locket to Dracula.
Dracula was pleased with Regulus's performance, smiled and nodded at him, and then looked down at the Horcrux in his hand-
It is a golden locket set with a sparkling green gemstone in the shape of a snake, like a real venomous snake.
Seeing the shape of the locket, Dracula's eyes were filled with surprise.
"Why does this thing look so familiar?" He pondered, pressing the button on the front of the locket.
But the lid didn't pop open like an ordinary locket, and the upper and lower halves were still stuck together.
"Dracula-sama, I've tried, and this box won't open anyway." Kreacher said from the side.
Dracula didn't speak, just looked at the serpentine emerald on the box.
He suddenly realized where he had seen this Horcrux-
This was Salazar Slytherin's locket!
"Things are getting interesting." Dracula curled the corners of his mouth and slipped the locket into his pocket.
Regulus looked at him with a puzzled look in his eyes.
"Mr. Dracula, haven't you even found a way to destroy the Dark Lord's Horcrux?" He asked.
In Regulus's opinion, Dracula, an existence who is good at necromancy and can even recall the memories of the Yin Corpse, should know a lot about dark magic items like Horcruxes.
If even he couldn't destroy the Horcruxes, wouldn't the Dark Lord really have no way to deal with it?
"Wrong!" Dracula chuckled, "If I want to destroy it, I have countless ways to crack this non-technical thing."
"Then why don't you do it now?" Regulus asked, confused.
"Let's put it this way, this locket has something to do with an old friend of mine." Dracula whispered, "He's left too little behind, and I don't want to destroy it too much."
"Put this thing with me."
"Trust me, I'll fix this when the time comes!"
Dracula chuckled.
