Chapter 164: Rove and Luna
"Luna, are you sure we can find the scimitar-horned slug and the bubble slug in the Forbidden Forest?"
In the silence of the night, two small figures appeared in the Forbidden Forest.
The shallow moonlight shone into the forbidden forest through the trees, and the trees of different heights cast jagged mottled black shadows, stunned as if they were ghosts.
The pine covered with a layer of snow staggered, and occasionally a few scattered snowflakes fell on a messy, dirty blonde hair.
"Maybe you'll find it?" Luna grabbed a few pieces of snow from her hair and watched as it melted into her palms with a somewhat dazed expression.
Rove looked helplessly at the somewhat crazy little witch, and stopped talking.
"I still can't believe that magical creatures like scimitars, bubble sluggers, and hooks really exist?" He asked, "I don't understand, my grandfather is an authority on magical beasts, but he has searched for it all his life and has not found any trace of the existence of these magical beasts you mentioned."
Rove and Luna quickly become good friends as table mates in Potions class.
Rove was pleasantly surprised to find that Luna, like himself, was very interested in magical beasts, and often talked about those cute little creatures.
To his surprise, Luna confidently admits that she knows of many rare magical creatures that are not documented in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, such as scimitars, bubble slugs, ticks, and harassing flies......
After a month of getting acquainted with Hogwarts Castle and its surroundings, Rove invited Luna to join him on a night tour of the Forbidden Forest to find traces of the new creatures.
Luna glanced at Rove in surprise, as if she couldn't believe that her friend could be suspicious of these magical creatures.
"Of course it's true, my dad once got the horn of a scimitar-horned beast." She said with a serious face, "I've always had that horn with me......
"What? There is still such important evidence?!" Rove instantly became excited, and couldn't wait to get to Luna's side, "Take it out and have a look!"
Luna's face was calmly tugging inside her silver sequinned robe, strings of chains made of metal bottle caps dangling from the inside of her clothes, making a crisp sound.
"Found it."
She didn't know where she found a large rhinoceros horn from the string of chains, lifted it, and brought it to Rove's eyes.
"Look." Luna said in a sloppy tone.
Rove excitedly looked at the big animal horn in Luna's hand, and his heart was particularly excited.
He felt that if he could help Luna confirm the existence of the scimitar-horned beast, he would be recognized by his grandfather as the youngest magizoologist in the wizarding world!
The next moment, however, Rove's hopeful eyes went out.
"Luna, you told me this is the horn of a scimitar?" His face was a little stiff, and he seemed to have an urge to scold, but he couldn't bear to scold in front of Luna.
"Hmm!" Luna nodded softly, her face calm.
"But it's actually the horn of a poisonous horned beast......" Rove covered his face helplessly, thinking to himself that his dream of being a magizoologist would not be realized for a while. ….
"Luna, were you deceived by your father?" He asked.
"I can feel it, it's the horn of a scimitar." Luna held the large animal horn in both hands and said in a firm tone, "The scimitar will definitely help us in our actions tonight."
Rove was desperate.
He always felt that according to the unreliability of Luna's talk about the so-called "scimitar-horned beast", it was very likely that the other magical beasts that were not discovered by Newt were either made up by her or deceived by her father......
"I knew it...... My grandfather has been busy all his life, and there is no way he could have missed so many magical beasts." Rove said helplessly, "Forget it, anyway, I didn't just come to the Forbidden Forest to find those magical beasts."
"Little Curl Wing Demon hasn't had food for the past few days...... I can't steal anymore
Take Hagrid's lambs, and he seems to have found that the sheep have been lost, and today he sees that he is reinforcing the fence of the sheep."
Listening to Rove's suspicions, Luna seemed to be used to it and didn't care at all. Her hands were still holding the scimitar-horned beast, or poisonous horned beast, and her eyes wandered around the Forbidden Forest.
"Rove, did you steal ten sheep this month? Did Hagrid not find out until now?" She asked curiously.
"Ahem, Hagrid was a little careless and never counted the number of sheep." Rove said with some embarrassment, "It's that I've stolen a little too much lately, and it doesn't look right at a glance, which raises suspicions."
"What do I say......" Luna looked thoughtfully at the snowflake-covered floor, "Lamb has been a lot of food in the Great Hall lately."
Hearing this never-ending sentence, Rove's expression became even more embarrassed.
Magical creatures usually feed on animal brains, and untamed curly-winged demons even prefer to eat human brains.
In order to keep the Winged Demon from getting too hungry and prevent his head from being eaten first, Rov had to feed the Winged Demon he was carrying with him on time.
So he got his idea at the Hogwarts hunting grounds, where Hagrid had fenced off a small ranch on the edge of the Forbidden Forest......
Every few days, Rove would go to Hagrid's sheepfold to steal a sheep and feed the sheep brains to the Winged Demon.
As for the remaining lamb, they will take advantage of the location of the Hufflepuff common room, and when they find no one, they will be secretly taken to the Hogwarts kitchen, and the lamb will be handed over to the house-elves who work in the kitchen.
Although Luna looked crazy, she had unconsciously seen it and guessed that the recent change in the Great Hall's recipe must have been caused by Rove.
At that moment, the winged demon curled up in a large green cocoon in Rove's pocket moved.
"Don't worry, little one, I promise you'll find something else delicious today." Rove quickly patted his bulging pockets to soothe the curled wolf.
Then, he looked at Luna and smiled helplessly, "The Winged Demon is hungry."
"And this little guy is still a picky eater, he has eaten sheep brain too many times during this time, he has long felt dissatisfied, and he was protesting with me a few days ago." Rove said.
Luna tilted her head and glanced at Rove's bulging pockets, which looked like an orange turnip, but were actually called Airship Lee's earrings, dangling under her earlobes. ….
"So what are you waiting for?" I didn't see her turn her head around, so she tilted her head and said to Rove, "Let's go find food for the Winged Demon!"
With that, she scurried into the depths of the Forbidden Forest.
Rove looked at Luna's back as she said to go, didn't react for a while, and was stunned for a while before he followed.
……
Rove and Luna had good luck, and it didn't take long for them to spot a large fat boar.
Rove immediately threw the Winged Demon out.
The winged demon immediately changed from a cocoon to a large blue-green butterfly, and very neatly wrapped the boar's head with two thorny wings.
"The next picture is going to be a little bloody, why don't you look somewhere else?" Rove thought of the Winged Demon's predatory method, and looked at Luna beside him with some concern.
He felt that such a simple little witch should not be able to accept such a bloody and brutal scene of predation.
However, Luna shook her head slightly, and looked at the picture in front of her with a calm face-
The wild boar was covered with its head wrapped around its head, blindfolded, and felt a sharp pain in its head, and began to struggle violently.
It was blindfolded by the wings of the winged demon, and it was pitch black in front of it, and it could not see its direction, so it could only run aimlessly, wailing, and flaring its head like crazy, trying to shake the winged demon off its head.
However, the small body of the curling wing demon was extremely powerful, firmly imprisoning the boar's head, never giving it any chance to break free.
Over time, wild boars
The struggle gradually became weak.
Eventually, its fat body fell heavily on the snow, splashing a cloud of flying snowflakes......
Having eaten and drunk to his heart's content, the Winged Demon retracted its wings and flew off the boar's head, falling back into Rove's palm, returning to its cocoon-like form.
The boar's head on the ground was dripping with blood, and there seemed to be a large hole in the back of the head, and the skin in that part of the brain was shriveled, and there was nothing left in the big hole, only a piece of blood that was still flowing.
"Are you alright, Luna?" Rov looked at this bloody scene and hurriedly looked at Luna beside her, wanting to comfort her young heart.
However, he was surprised to find that there was no trace of fear on Luna's face, just a slight daz, and her eyes were foggy.
"What's wrong with you, Luna?" Rove asked, a little worried. He felt that this performance was beyond his comprehension.
"It's okay, I've got a friend." Luna shook her head and looked at the pine trees near the boar.
Rove looked away, too, but saw nothing.
"Oh no, Luna can't be stupid by this bloody scene, right?" He was taken aback, and hurriedly reached out and shook it in front of Luna's eyes, "Luna...... Luna...... Do you still know me?"
"I'm really fine, Rove." Luna looked at Rove's performance and laughed very happily, "It's true that a few friends are here."
Suspiciously, Rove looked at Luna again, but found nothing but pine trees and snow in the distance. ….
Sure enough, Luna's brain was frightened. , he secretly made a judgment.
Just when Rov wanted to turn around and forcibly take Luna to the school infirmary to see a doctor, an accident suddenly happened-
A horse's hoof-like footprint suddenly landed on the snow-covered ground, very abrupt and very clear, and in the blink of an eye, it was connected from a single footprint.
The number of footprints is increasing, but there is still nothing in front of them, as if they all appeared out of thin air.
The footprints stretched far away, from behind a tall tree to the headless boar before stopping.
Immediately, there was a terrifying sight of wild boar being easily torn apart, only to disappear into the air piece by piece......
"Horseshoe-shaped footprints, invisible bodies, carnivorous habits......" Rove muttered as he looked at the incomprehensible scene in front of him, "So there's Thestrals in the Forbidden Forest?!" He looked at Luna.
Luna nodded happily.
"It was Hagrid who adopted a Thestrals, decades ago, and grew them to become the ones they are now." She explained, "The carriages for Hogwarts are all pulled by Thestrals."
With that, Luna stepped forward and spoke happily into the air.
"Is the Hogwarts carriage like this?" Rove said stunned.
He could be said to have smuggled into Hogwarts with a portkey, and had never ridden or even seen a Hogwarts carriage, so he didn't understand what Luna was talking about.
Wait, the point doesn't seem to be here......
The point is, Luna actually took it upon herself to talk to those Thestrals that Rove couldn't see, and seemed to be familiar with them.
Watching Luna's actions of talking to Thestrals, an extraordinarily complicated look appeared in Rove's eyes.
After all, Rove, who is inspired to become a future magizoologist, even if he hasn't seen it with his own eyes, he clearly knows one of the characteristics of Thestrals-
Only those who have truly witnessed death will be able to see Thestrals!
In other words, Luna is just a new year at Hogwarts and has already witnessed death?
Rove hesitated for a long time, feeling that he had suddenly suffered from it
I don't know what to say because of my grandfather's unique symptoms of not being able to speak.
"Bang", "snort", "snort", ......
Just then, a strange noise in the distance suddenly caught the attention of Rove and Luna.
Rov didn't know what to say to comfort Luna and hurriedly changed the subject.
"It looks like someone is using magic in the depths of the Forbidden Forest." He walked over to Luna and whispered to her.
Luna's eyes wandered over there.
"Thestrals told me...... There's a lot of danger in that direction." She said. The voice is more erratic than the eyes.
"Can you talk to Thestrals?" Rov looked at Luna in amazement.
"I don't understand what Thestrals' is saying." Luna shook her head and said with a hint of relief, "But it's easy to understand what's going on in their eyes......
The corners of Rove's mouth twitched, and he always felt that what Luna said was a little unreliable.
See what animals are thinking...... He felt that his grandfather could not have done such a miraculous thing.
"Harassing flies." Luna said suddenly.
"What?" Rove was stunned for a moment.
"You've got a bug in your head." Luna said, "I can see a swarm of harassing flies flying around in your head."
Rove didn't believe the novelty of Luna's mouth at all now, and just shrugged his shoulders casually.
"So how am I going to get rid of them?" He coped.
Luna reached out and tugged at Rove's sleeve and handed him something like a rhinoceros horn.
