Volume 2 Why the Sun Shines Chapter 59 The City of Art (2)
The guards who arrived on Rogers' orders cleared the demon statues that were chasing Francis after them.
The neat procession kept Francis and the others inside, and the guards quickly used muskets and special splash potions to deal with the demon statues, and it was clear that this was not the first time they had dealt with this kind of thing.
After the battle, the leader of the guard took off his mask, threw out his graceful long golden hair, looked at the black sword in Francis's hand and said puzzledly: "If you don't know how to use the sword, why do you take them with you?" β
She looked at Francis and they were just running, without the slightest intention of resisting the demon stone statue, and subconsciously thought that the three people in front of her were just ordinary people.
Francis picked up the black sword, innocently stretched out his arms and responded, "I don't know why, someone insisted on not causing trouble, so we can only run." β
Judged by the female captain of the guard not to use the Black Sword, Francis has mixed feelings, and he becomes increasingly dissatisfied with Alice's low-key principles.
Alice did not budge in the slightest, pinching her waist and insisting, "So now it is the guards who have come to our rescue, Mr. Francis, not the church who has taken us away for destroying the property of the principality." β
Alice was reluctant, she vaguely remembered that she was the boss of the two of them, at least nominally.
She was eager to explain the disrespectful attitude of Francis and Richard's two subordinates to Golden Dawn. But then she remembered that it was she who pulled Francis in.
Seeing this, the chief of the female guard couldn't help but laugh and explained to them, "In Hera, defending yourself under the attack of the demon stone statue will not be punished for any crime. But it is true that the use of extraordinary power requires great caution here. β
Then, under the pretext of routine investigation, the female guard chief took out the investigation book and asked and recorded why the three of them had come here and where they were going.
Francis explained that they were going to visit the church chapel and that there was a carver friend, Alice, who needed to be met.
The chief of the female guard looked at the chapel at the end of the city line, turned to Alice and said, "Why don't I escort you with the guards, lest you accidentally provoke the demon statue, and the mayor seems to be very concerned about your safety." β
Alice quickly estimated the pros and cons in her mind, and now the top priority was to find the carver of the chapel, if these guards had no ill will and could allow them to avoid the pursuit of the demon statue, then there was no reason to refuse.
Alice agreed, "That's great, please show us the way." β
Francis looked puzzled when he saw thisβhow different is this from being caught by the church? In the end, he couldn't hold back and didn't say anything, silently put the black sword back in its place, and followed the queue towards the chapel.
Richard put the steam engine aside, then simply sat on the ground, shook his head and said lightly: "You go, I'll rest here and wait for you to come back." β
"Work hard, Richard, you can."
Richard was indifferent to Alice's encouragement, only waving his hand to indicate that he really needed a break - "no one is more tired than me, really".
In the end, Alice reluctantly agreed that Richard stay where he was, but sternly rejected Francis's request to rest with him.
On the way forward, the chief female guard and Alice walked in front of Francis, and the female chief of the guard quietly asked Alice, "Where did that guy in the black coat come from, it looks very familiar." β
The female captain always felt that she had seen Francis's face somewhere, but she couldn't remember anything now.
Alice didn't hesitate much, and responded calmly: "Messi, he is my mechanic." β
The female guard chief nodded thoughtfully when she heard this, and after thinking about it again, she still pressed the idea of continuing to ask.
She looked back at Francis at the back of the queue, and saw that he looked calm, not fluctuating at all, but from time to time she looked at the surrounding street scene.
The female guard captain smiled, maybe it was an illusion, she shouldn't know this person.
Eventually, the chief female guard led them to the chapel, where their carver friend was in a daze on a towering marble carving.
"I'm sorry, I think you have a friend coming to you, Mr. Carver."
Hearing the words of the chief of the guardess, the engraver turned his head to look at them, and his expression became much happier when he saw Alice.
After jumping straight down, he greeted Alice: "Long time no see, Alice, I didn't expect you to come so quickly".
Seeing that they had not found the wrong person, the chief of the guards said goodbye and left the chapel with the guards.
"How dare I not come, my potion has an accident here, you should understand the reason why I came here so quickly."
After hearing this, the carver scratched his chin with his hand, and after seeing that there were no outsiders around, he slowly said to Alice: "The chief guard who sent you just now is the one who dealt with the death of your trader, everyone said that the demon statue did it, do you have other ideas?" β
"My thoughts don't matter, I'm going to get my potion back."
"This incident is indeed unusual, and there is very little information flowing through my hands. I'm guessing that someone above the demigod stage has an idea about your potion, but it's too dangerous to verify it, and I'm not stupid enough to do it myself. The engraver cleared his throat and continued, "But if you want to seek the truth, first ask the chief of the female guard what happened at that time. Second, check the extraordinary people in the city above the second stage of each stage, and you can always have a little eyebrows. β
While Alice was talking to the carver, Francis was waiting a little bored, leaning against the carver's huge marble carvings and preparing to rest for a while.
The engraver noticed Francis's presence and asked Alice, "This is the legendary new king of Thebea?" β
"It's him, but Mr. Francis has always refused to acknowledge the existence and authenticity of the matter."
The carver was not less interested, and said with a smile: "The latest intelligence rumors that this guy already has a queen, I don't know if it's true or not, I only heard that she has a short temper but extraordinary skills." β
Alice understood that this was a reference to May riding straw and stabbing Armand in Stage 4 of the Living Dead to the ground.
"There are many princes or grand dukes in the royal city who are already thinking about sending their daughters to the Messiah. There is no way, the name of the new king of Thebia is really loud. β
Alice was shocked when she heard this, and turned negative: "They better give up these ideas, Mr. Francis will not let this happen." β
The engraver was noncommittal, but kept an interested smile on his face.
Who knows, no one is sure that Francis's current wife will not die in an accident.
