Chapter 101: Rescue Voyage

Katos. Huggins left the Dawn Reaper with his champion company in the Thunderhawk gunboat and headed for the Mother of Tears, located in the center of the fleet.

As a fleet-based warband, the Mother of Tears is a mobile fortress for the Weepers, as well as their Abbey, Gene Seed Bank, Valhalla, and Relic Collection—though only a few.

There was also a capital battleship that was born and died with the Weepers, but it was broken by the Minotaur Jumping Gang in that battle that brought shame to the Angel Father, and was confiscated and no longer belonged to the Weepers.

On the command deck of the Mother of Tears, the rest of the strike cruisers and the Astartes on the frigate were assembled here.

The brothers were in high spirits, as the Katos Champion was "lucky enough to pick up" a large amount of weaponry - the exchange with the Mecha was done in secret, and not many brothers knew about it.

The last time I received such a massive replenishment was thirteen years ago, when I joined forces with three companies of the Salamander Warband to clear out the Nurgle Warbands that had invaded the Lanier system.

In view of the status of the Salamander Warband's founding group, the Red Hunter Warband, who accompanied and supervised the Weepers' Atonement Expedition, turned a blind eye and did not say anything more.

Today, the weepers' path of atonement has been going on for eighty years, and there are still twenty years left before the end.

But there are now only more than 300 Astartes left in the warband, and only three companies can be maintained.

No one knows how long they will be able to move forward as if they are cursed by bad luck, and how many human worlds they can save from the enemies of the dark galaxy.

The weepers' warband leader Malakin. Foros glanced at the brothers gathered on deck, an air of sadness and resentment around him.

The remaining three hundred and twenty-one Weeper warriors silently lined up in array to face the warband's leader's scrutiny.

"Brothers, our Star Whisperers have received a call for help from the Devran system, and their world is under attack from the Great Devourer."

The Malakin War Leader said in a deep voice.

The weepers did not speak, and heavy breathing came through the cracks in the helmet grille.

They suppressed their anger and waited for the order from the warband leader they trusted and respected most.

It's not the first time they've fought against swarms of filthy xenomorphs who only know how to prey.

"We may be the only Astarte warband to receive their call for help, and the Great Devourer fleet labeled 'Kraken', is hovering in the Devran system, with tens of billions of innocent people waiting for rescue."

"What do you think we should do, Brother Katos?"

The leader set his sights on Katos, the youngest champion warrior in the Weepers, at the head of the group.

"We are the sons of Holy Lies, and we should fight for the Emperor's protection of humanity. We will do everything we can to save the citizens of the Empire."

Katos replied in a deep voice, his voice as muffled as thunder, and the blood of the Holy Reles on his helmet and chest glistened.

"Very sensible."

The Malakin Warband Leader nodded, "We don't have enough combat power to fight the Great Devourer right now, and rescuing people is indeed the highest priority."

….

"Brothers, do you have any other suggestions?"

He looked at his brothers, who were all armed.

"Follow the will of the Holy Blood!"

The weepers roared in unison, and a thunderous roar resounded throughout the Mother of Tears.

……

Through the porthole of the Thunderhawk gunship, Katos could see the massive chapel-like structure of the Mother of Tears.

"The Malakin Warlord seems intent on letting you lead the Weepers."

Tyris said.

"It doesn't make a difference, it's all about fighting for the Emperor."

Katos shook his head, his tone calm, "And no one knows what the fate will be."

He was accompanied by five of his champion guards, as well as two assault melee squads and two Destroyer squads armed with heavy firepower weapons

Back aboard the Dawn Reaper.

The fleet's target has shifted to the Devra system, and all Weepers are ready for battle.

After a four-day voyage, the Weeper fleet reached the nearest space hop.

"The subspace engine is ready."

"Prepare to turn to Navigator Control."

"Geller Force Field Nominal."

In the strategy chamber of the Dawn Reaper, the confirmation of the mortal crew, the technical priests, and the navigators echoed.

Katos stood in front of the command seat, his fists clenched at his sides, his eyes fixed on the starry sky on the monitor.

He failed to comprehend the incomprehensible flow of data that arises when physics meets subspace metaphysics.

As Astarte, they are not good at piloting warships, and fighting is their calling.

And piloting a warship is not something that can be solved by space marines alone, it requires the cooperation of a large number of mortal crews.

He's standing here just a symbol that reassures the people of the Strategy Office—

Every subspace voyage represents the unknown and danger, and no one can guarantee that they will be able to get out safely after entering.

Subspace is a realm that is difficult to describe in human words, and all physical laws will be completely invalid in subspace, including time and space.

It is possible to receive a request for help from a human world and set out to rescue, but after leaving the subspace, it is time before the message is sent.

If subspace is an ocean, then human beings only come into contact with the shallow surface of the water, and subspace navigation is nothing more than sailing on the surface of the water in a small boat.

In the calm and waveless time of the subspace ocean, human footprints have traveled all over the galaxy and established a glorious civilization;

And with the wind and waves of this ocean, terrible things stirring up waves under the water to tear apart any sailing boat, and human civilization is on the verge of extinction.

"This is the Mother of Tears, and the entire fleet is ready to begin the space jump."

"The countdown begins."

Most of the self-aware armed minions and mortal minions were in the group room, holding themselves in place with restraints and sleeping drugs and going to hibernation.

The starry sky suddenly rippled like water waves.

The ripples rapidly expanded and twisted backwards, and the stars twisted into a swirl, stained with an eerie fuchsia hue.

A crack was torn open in the physical universe, and the Weeper fleet leaped into the subspace with the physical angular momentum gained at the moment of activation of the subspace engine.
