Chapter 335: Everything Has a Price
Godforsaken Land, afternoon town camp.
Led by Chief Colin Iliad, Derickberg and a nine-man exploration team left the afternoon town camp and walked along the gray stone staircase among the towering and gloomy buildings towards the summit.
They were at least the Sequence 6 Extraordinaires, and most of them belonged to the 'Warrior' path, and they moved quite fast, and after clearing out several waves of monsters dominated by rotten giants, they finally came to the area shrouded in twilight, and were shocked by the vast and epic buildings, and no one spoke for a short time.
It was also the first time they had come across a place where there was no lightning alternation and there was 'natural' light!
However, after generations of changes, although they revere the 'sun' recorded in the literature in their hearts, they themselves have found themselves more accustomed to the dark and deep environment of frequent lightning, and they have an instinctive fear of this situation frozen in dusk.
Hope and fear.
Upon entering the dusk-shrouded area, the entire exploration team, including Chief Colin Iliad and Elder Lovia the Shepherd, inevitably appeared in a state of exhaustion and decay, feeling like they were entering the end of their lives, and as they moved forward, wandering the roads or rushing out of different buildings, the rotten giants grew stronger and stronger.
After such a weakening of one side and the strengthening of the other, the advance began to become difficult, and after several fierce battles, the Silver City Exploration Team finally broke through the blockade and interception of those monsters, and came to an area that was extremely quiet, without any sound, and made people's scalps tingle.
In this regard, the 'Silver Knight' Colin Iliad had to break the silence and remind:
"This means that we have really entered the 'Giant Court', which is about to be close to the core, and the danger level will only rise, not fall."
After hearing this, the hearts of the members of the exploration team couldn't help but tighten.
The rotten giants who just attacked them have a strength comparable to Sequence 5, and if they continue, won't they encounter the monsters of Sequence 4? If it's one or two, it's fine, but if it's still in a group like the previous situation, then their situation will probably be quite dangerous!
The Chief was clearly anticipating this, and was equally wary of everything around him.
Surprisingly, they were getting deeper and deeper into the core of the Giant Court, but they didn't encounter any monsters halfway.
Finally, a huge stone staircase appeared before their eyes!
It is grayish-white as a whole, but dyed with an orange glow, which is both brilliant and silent.
On top of the huge staircase, there is a city wall so majestic that you have to look up to see the top, there are many traces of destruction and burning, and in some places there are arrows the thickness of ordinary trees, several meters long, which make some of the stones collapse!
In the middle of the wall is a gate tens of meters high, which is more grayish and blue, with golden nails inlaid on it.
And most importantly, this door has been opened at some point!
This unexpected situation immediately made the others more vigilant, but Chief Colin Iliad stepped onto the stairs resolutely.
Obviously, the Chief was not surprised by the situation.
After all, he had seen the two strangers enter the Giant Court with his own eyes.
As the exploration team approached, the scene behind the door gradually became visible to them.
A grayish, orange-glowing staircase of countless steps ascended from behind the door to the highest and most magnificent abode of the Giant King, unhindered by anything else, flanked by palaces and towers;
On both sides of the staircase of the Kingdom of God are a large number of pedestals used for statues.
Judging by the size of the pedestal, the statue placed on it is at least six meters tall!
But now, the statues of the giants guarding the staircase of the kingdom of God are nowhere to be found, leaving only the still intact pedestals and the rubble that has piled up scattered on the stairs and may not have been cleared.
Obviously, this is the work of the previous 'visitor'.
The reason why they were able to come here unhindered all the way was because the other party had cleared the danger in advance.
"Whew!"
Colin Iliad took a deep breath.
If so, then this exploration may go even more smoothly than he imagined.
With this in mind, Colin continued upward with the members of the exploration team, and a towering palace gradually became clear.
And when they finally stepped into that magnificent palace, they saw a scene that they will never forget-
The palace is bathed in a solidified twilight, and to the left is a balustrade made of a row of stone columns.
Beyond the railing was a diffuse orange cloud, and in the distance of the cloud was a gently surging dark blue with no end in sight, a dark blue that made a rattling sound.
No one needed to explain, the members of the Silver City Exploration Team remembered the record in the book and the description of Little Jack at the same time, and a term flashed through their minds:
"The sea."
The dark blue, gently surging, and boundless sea, as if it contained endless life, was presented in the eyes of the members of the Silver City exploration team, no longer a record in ancient books, nor a combination of words in the mouth of an outsider.
It's still far away, but it seems to be a possibility.
In the exploration team, the burgundy-haired Antilna looked at it obsessively, opened her mouth, as if she wanted to sigh something, but in the end all she said was that word:
"The ...... of the sea"
"Is the sea beautiful?"
A voice asked.
"Hmm."
Antilna still looked obsessively at the boundless sea, and let out a soft 'um'.
"yes, it's beautiful."
There was a hint of nostalgia in the tone of the voice, and the mood was low:
"Thousands of years later, the Giant's Court is still magnificent, and the sea is still beautiful. Just by standing here, you can have a panoramic view of the entire Giant Court...... But now, the people who watched the scenery were long gone, and I searched the entire Giant's Court, but I didn't find a single living giant. ”
"Everybody died, dying from that great change thousands of years ago."
This unexpected statement made the exploration team stunned, this was obviously not an exclamation that the residents of Silver City could make. Although this palace is magnificent, they are not residents here, and there is nothing worthy of their remembrance here, so who is this person with a tone of remembrance?
Antilna turned abruptly and looked vigilantly at the giant who appeared at some point!
Obviously tall and extremely eye-catching, but none of them even noticed the arrival of the other party!
If the other party did not speak out rashly just now, but suddenly attacked......
A fine cold sweat broke out on Antilna's forehead, and she could already foresee her consequences.
The gray-blue-skinned giant was indifferent to their vigilance, and just looked at the leading chief, and asked kindly:
"I remember your name was Colin?"
The chief was silent for two seconds, nodded lightly, and said:
"Colin Iliad, we met at the town camp in the afternoon."
Grossell smiled innocently and raised his hand to scratch the back of his head, the straight eye did not have the ferocity and tyranny that various giants rumored to portray.
Colin looked around and asked, as if inadvertently:
"I remember, you were accompanied by a Mr. Ember, isn't he here?"
The giant Grossel looked around with a straight one-eye, and said with a smile:
"He's in the Northern Continent, and you also hope to go to the Northern Continent from here, right?"
Colin was silent, noncommittal.
Grossell saw the vigilance and hostility of the Silver City exploration team, but he didn't take it to heart, just smiled and turned to leave.
Antilna hesitated and hesitated:
"Chief, we ......"
"Keep up with him."
Colin Iliad saw the vigilance and apprehension of the others, and said in a deep voice.
Darek was silent, and the first one followed.
In this way, the nine members of the exploration team cautiously followed behind the tall gray-blue skinned giant, and the giant Grossel could clearly detect their 'tracking', but did not make a sound to stop it.
In this case, even the most hostile members of the exploration team can see that the giant named Grossel has no ill will.
Finally, they made their way across the hall to an open door. The view followed Grossell, which entered it, and saw an unusually magnificent and gorgeous palace. At the end of the palace are steps sprinkled with orange-red light, and on the steps are placed a huge throne of iron black.
Thousands of years ago, the Giant King Ormir sat on that huge throne and ruled over the kingdom of God known as the Giant's Court!
Standing in front of the gate of this magnificent palace, the exploration team looked at the gray-blue giant with some hesitation for a moment.
For the giants, it should be a felony for them to trespass on the Giant King's residence, right?
Although the giant didn't have any desire to attack along the way, it didn't mean that the other party was harmless to humans and animals.
Once they rashly enter the palace, they are likely to be greeted by the other party's endless pursuit.
Standing in front of the steps of the throne, Grossel suddenly looked back at the people at the door, scratched his head and asked:
"Aren't you coming in?"
The members of the exploration team subconsciously looked at Colin, and the chief hesitated for a moment before stepping into the palace.
The expected attack did not come, and the giants still stood before the throne waiting for them.
This caused the members of the exploration team to let down their guard and follow the chief into the palace.
And it was only when everyone followed that Grossel climbed the steps to the iron-black throne.
Later, the members of the exploration team saw that the tall giant avoided the throne in a posture that could be called 'cautious' and circled to the back of the throne.
Colin immediately reminded in a deep voice:
"Don't go near the throne."
The exploration team felt a pang in their hearts, entering the palace may not be an offense, but touching the throne must be counted!
Colin took a deep breath and climbed the tall steps, far away from the iron-black throne.
Then he saw that behind the throne, there was a door that was open, grayish-blue, and dimly lit, depicting a scene of dusk!
This may be the 'door' to the outside world...... Colin Iliad, Derrick, and Lovia flashed at the same time.
"That's the door out of here." The voice of the giant Grossell confirmed their conjecture.
Seeing several members of the exploration team looking at him, Grossel laughed and said:
"You can push open that door yourself."
"I'll do it!" Derick volunteered to stand up and said without hesitation.
Colin was silent for two seconds, then nodded lightly at Dareek.
If the giants hadn't deceived them, there was indeed a way out behind the door.
But if the giants had been lying to them before, then there was probably an unimaginable danger hidden behind this door!
And the person who opens the door will definitely take the most risks.
As the strongest member of the exploration team, Colin can't open the door.
Because once he has an accident, it is impossible for the rest of the people to have the ability to stop the giant from killing.
So, it can only be someone else who takes the risk.
And now, Derick has taken the initiative to take on that responsibility.
"Whew."
Daerik took a deep breath and walked quickly to the door, pressing his hand on the door, pushing the gray-blue door hard.
A drop of water slipped down Derrick's face, and a heavy prickly sound rang in his ears.
A crack then appeared, allowing the golden sunlight to shine in.
The gap grew larger and wider, and a sea of golden glow gradually appeared in the eyes of Derrick, in the eyes of Colin Iliad, and in the eyes of all the members of the entire exploration team.
Their eyes were full of hope, and their faces showed a smile without the slightest haze and a faint yearning.
The open gray-blue gates, the stone staircase leading down, the golden sea and the ubiquitous light are the final results of their countless explorations and sacrifices!
Derick looked at Grossell expectantly and asked:
"Can you get out of here?"
"Nope."
Shaking his head, Grossel explained:
"You have to be at the right time and in the right way to leave."
Derick asked impatiently:
"What's the right way?"
Grossel asked rhetorically:
"Why should I tell you?"
Darek was stunned for a moment, and the nerves of everyone in Silver City tensed all of a sudden.
Grossell's friendly actions along the way almost made them forget that this giant was also their potential enemy!
Grossell's straight eyes swept over several people, and he said slowly:
"The ancient sun god killed our king, why do you think I'm going to let his followers out of here?"
This sentence suddenly made the atmosphere on both sides tense to the extreme, and Antilna and the others had even put their hands on their respective weapons!
Oh, yes!
The other party is a giant, and the lord they believe in has killed the giant king Ormir, which is definitely a life-and-death enmity for the giant!
What's more, Silver City was once also a believer in the Giant King, but in the end he threw himself into the faith of the Lord.
This is a naked betrayal for giants!
The contradictions between the two sides are almost irreconcilable!
Colin stretched out his hand to stop Silver City and the others, and asked in a deep voice:
"So, what's your request?"
He believed that the other party's previous friendliness was not faked, if the other party really didn't want them to leave.
There's no need to let them come here, let alone open that door!
