Chapter 467: Elite Troops
"I've heard rumors," Garrod continued as he straightened up. "That's true. We're not immortal anymore, are we?" Malfurion nodded, and the captain of the guard grunted. "I don't mean to be offended, but I think it's a good thing, even with such consequences. He looked at Sarah Hill, his hands clenched into fists. "We think we're on top of things, and we've become arrogant because of this endless life. That's why the Legion was able to almost wipe us out. β
There was a strange haze on his vicissitudes of life, reminding Tyrande and her partner of the distant past. Malfurion walked briskly over to Garrod and deftly pulled him away from Sarah Hill. "You're exhausted. You'll need food and water, andβ"
"How can I eat and sleep?"
"Sarah Hill will want to see you take care of yourself. Tyrande added from Garrod's other side. "I promise you, I'll do my best to do it for her. β
"I'm going to stayβ"
The Grand Druid shook his head. "Nope. Let yourself relax, that's the best way to remember her. I'll take you somewhere to eat healthy and maybe calm your mind. When you're rested, you can come back and help arrange her funeral. β
To his relief, Garrod acquiesced to his proposal. He took one last look, though, at his partner. "I'd like to stay with her a little longer, if I can......"
"Of course. β
They watched as he knelt beside Sarah Hill again. Garrod took her hand, leaned forward and whispered. Malfurion and Tyrande walked out of the room so that they could come and talk briefly about other things.
"Varian is coming to the summit," Tyrande whispered to her husband. That's what Santis' eyeliner says. But I'm still worried because we haven't gotten official confirmation from Stormwind yet. β
"You and I both know that if Santis believes her information, it's usually true. All right. In any case, other kingdoms will hear the rumors. If Stormwind is going to come to the conference, so will the countries that are still waiting. He frowned. "Did he come to make the summit a success, or did he come to boycott it...... We'll just have to wait and see. β
"If we haven't received an official response from Stormwind before he arrives, it's probably the latter. β
"Unfortunately, you're so right. Malfurion's brow furrowed even tighter. "But just tell me about it when you start looking for me. β
"It's more than that. She described the visions that Elune had made her see, and the revelations within.
He pondered for a moment, then asked, "Are you sure you're not mistaken?"
"Our Lady of the Moon is very clear. β
"Makes sense in general, but it's not always true. He thought about it again. "Leave this matter to me. I'll try to make ...... If Varian Ureon is indeed the leader that the Alliance needs most in the future. β
Tyrande nodded, agreeing to let him handle the matter. Then she glanced at Garrod and continued. "We have one more, personal question...... Maybe two. Garrod still has some dust to come. β
"Even if we don't intervene in this matter, it can always be properly resolved. There's a lot more to it about. I welcome Garrod's return...... But in the long run, his life should be up to him. β
They glanced into the room again. By this time Garrod had already stood up. Malfurion and Tyrande let out a deep sigh when they heard him give Sarah Hill one last kiss.
"I wish Santis and his sister thought the same way," replied the High Priestess with a wry smile as they walked toward their old friend. "Although I doubt it. β
Most Night Elf military personnel use the training grounds in the Warrior Zone to hone their skills. There, they were able to use shooting ranges and arenas. Allies and foes alike revere the Night Elves as strong and well-trained warriors, especially the sentinels under the command of General Shantis Hazuki.
Mavi Shadowsong is not a member of the Sentinels, and she considers herself more skilled and dedicated than any Sentinel, including their leader. In fact, in her opinion, the Sentinel did not understand what dedication was...... What is called sacrifice.
Her face is narrower and more vicissitudes than most Night Elves. Her face was scarred - from battle and punishment. She was a warrior, a warden, a prisoner, and even an executioner. There was a resigned glint in her eyes.
Her armor was more elaborate than that used by the sentinels, with thick breastplates, heavy shoulder pads, and boots made of metal. The entire suit was painted a dull silver-gray color, with bronze gold trim around the edges. A pair of terrifyingly shaped gauntlets with sharp claws, and even the draped green cloak was lined with sharp blades, and that was more than just decoration. At the edge of her training field was a face-covering helmet, flanked by her weapon, the Shadow Crescent, a sharp, serrated blade.
There had been a title that had been given to her former identity - and she still saw herself as one of them, even though some no longer identified with it. These are the people who don't understand the dangers the Night Elves are facing. To deal with such a danger, the Sentinels were not armed or psychologically prepared. Luckily, Mavi has found a like-minded person and has begun recruiting and training the best of them to rebuild the elite force that Malfurion's brother had wiped out.
This elite unit is known as the Caretakers. (To be continued.) )
