Chapter 510: Purge
"Lie down!" Garrod yelled and lunged at the werewolf. Idrik let out a scream and rolled to the ground with Garrod.
The Moonblade swept past where the werewolf had stood, slashed through the bushes behind it, then spun around and flew back in the same way.
Idrik shoved Garrod away. "Lie still, Night Elves! this hunt is mine!"
Garrod wants to bring him back, but the Gilneys are confident in his abilities. The werewolf leaped from tree to tree, oblivious to another moonblade passing by him.
The captain of the guard grabbed a heavy stone and threw it over. The moon blade in the middle of the stone tilted it to one side. The deadly weapon slammed into a tree, cutting a deep gap, then bounced off the trunk and landed on the ground not far away.
Garrod crawled forward to get his weapon. He is not good at using the Moonblade, preferring the longsword. The Night Elf cursed himself, not only for his lack of training, but also for not carrying his favorite sword with him.
Garrod took the Moonblade as best he could, crouched down and walked after Idric. He didn't see the werewolf at first, but he knew the general direction in which the Gilneth man was going.
Garrod felt a tingle all over his body as he made his way through the thick bushes, but he tried not to pay attention. As long as he survives, there will be times of pain in the future.
He slammed through a wall of trees—barely able to grab a tree before he fell to his death. The ground in front of him suddenly dropped nearly a hundred feet. Garrod stepped back to safety, thinking for a moment that there was such an amazing landscape on the World Tree. The druids must have put a lot of effort into shaping a kingdom that mimics the continent of Azeroth.
The sound of a fight brought him back to reality. He heard Idrik's roar and another person grunting. Then there was a loud bang.
Garrod gripped the moonblade and followed the sound. This fight must be nearby-
An arcing blade grazed his throat. In the nick of time, Garrod noticed a flash of light in the corner of his eye, and was able to raise the weapon he had brought along in time.
But it's different from the previous one. This time, the oncoming blade was not thrown out of his hand, but in a seasoned hand. At first Garrod thought it was a sentry—until he saw the face.
Niva sneered and swung her Shadow Crescent Knife again. There was madness in her eyes, but there was cunning in the madness. She forced his back against a tree, then suppressed his weapon.
"Isn't that romantic?" She said mockingly, pressing the Darkmoon Knife down to his neck. "It's just you and me......"
"Idric...... Where?"
"I'll skin him later, make a beautiful cape......"
Hearing of the death of the brave werewolf burned with rage. Garrod had always feared that the Gilneth man would underestimate those stalkers, despite Idric's own warnings to his compatriots.
There was one more thing that still baffled Garrod. Why was he being followed in the first place? Could it be that Niva was worried about what he would know and was going to warn Mavi?
Mavi ......
Garrod cursed. Now he understood it all. Niva laughed harder and harder, her expression mocking.
"Figured it out, aren't you? You're not just good-looking. Your sister is going to cleanse our people of all the defilement! No high-class elves, no cheap dogs, no human ...... We don't need anything from them, and they have brought their filthy way of life to us!"
If she really believed that, she would be insane. And if she really assisted Mavi in this "purge". Nagarrod's sister was even crazier. He can understand how things are happening. She'd spent her entire life defending the Night Elves in different ways. And the return of the upper elves must have been a turning point, as if Sin-Essari had once again asserted his rule over their people.
The edge of the Darkmoon Knife approached his throat. Niva is strong, and although she may not be as good as Garrod, she uses leverage to her advantage.
She ...... Why...... You want me to die?" He hissed.
"Mavi doesn't want to! She thinks she can use you as a puppet! But I've been watching! You're more dangerous than she thinks! She'll understand why I killed you. She knows what I believe!"
Garrod knew he couldn't tell Niva to give up her murderous methods. In her fanatical eyes, she was nothing more than a stumbling block.
A shadowy figure suddenly sprang out from behind Niva. Garrod looked bravely behind her, and he saw Idric, covered in his own blood and the blood of others, lunging at Mavi's lieutenant.
But Niva is even more skilled. She removed the Darkmoon Knife from Garrod and spun in a circle, just in time to disembowel the werewolf that pounced on her.
Unfortunately. Niva's actions expose her to Garrod. He was too late to save his savior, but he could avenge him. The stolen moonblade slashed deep into the back of her neck.
Niva spun and fell to the side. She stomped into the air. Barely clinging to the edge of the cliff. But even so, she still insisted on grabbing Garrod's arm, trying to drag him down with her.
A pair of sharp claws tore at her wrists. Idrik coughed violently and slammed into Niva, causing her to let go of Garrod.
The two of them tangled and fell to the ground below. The sound of the impact sent a shudder to Garrod shudder. The Night Elves looked down and saw that the two bodies were now separated. Idrik lay there belly-down, looking asleep rather than dead. As for Niva-
Niva moved. Almost imperceptible. In such a place far from any priestess or druid, she had no hope of recovery, but the Assassin had not yet died.
Garrod suddenly prayed that she would hold on. He endured the pain and climbed down as fast as he could. He had seen so much death on the battlefield that he could conclude that the werewolf was dead.
Niva ** up. Garrod fell to his knees beside her. Just in time to see her open an eye.
"Come-come and kiss me goodbye, won't you?" She smirked and whispered.
"Nope. I'm here to watch you die slowly and painfully. I've seen wounded people like you. You'll be able to live for a few more hours, maybe a day or two. I'm gone before that. You'll die alone, unless some animal comes and gnaws you alive. ”
The smile on Niva's face vanished. She looked confused and shaken. "Kill me. You-you know...... You know you're willing to ...... Willing to do so. ”
"I have no reason to give you any peace. You killed my friend, and his friend......"
Niva laughed, causing blood to spill from the corners of her mouth. "The werewolf...... More than I expected. He must have killed Tasina, and we thought we had killed him. ”
Hearing that there was another enemy nearby, Garrod quickly looked around to the left and right, but saw nothing.
This made Niva laugh even harder...... It also looks like death is getting closer. "Don't- don't be afraid. If...... If she's nearby, you'...... You can't be alive!...... she and I " The caretaker suddenly shuddered. "Hmm! Elune is on top...... Kill me!"
Garrod was unmoved. "Tell me where my sister is. And I will put an end to your suffering. ”
"You...... You can't be ...... Find her in time!" In the end, Niva was in pain.
"If you answer quickly, I can. In return, I swear I'll do my best to help you. ”
She glared at him. "I won't...... Tell you. ”
He reached to his waist. He had a knife on his belt. Garrod unsheathed the short, sharp dagger. "I will put an end to your suffering. That's only going to get worse. I know. I've seen it many times on the battlefield. Brilliant and strong warriors—stronger than you and me—wept over the pain of external wounds and internal wounds. The worst of all are those who are too close to the Burning Legion for us to get close. It took them days to get out of breath. He looked away, reminiscing about the past. "I can't remember how many times I've seen them off with my own hands, because no healer can even soothe their pain. ”
Niva turned her head to look into the distance, though every thrust of the movement made her let out a painful **. Her neck hasn't broken yet. But Garrod knew she wasn't going to be comfortable. The rest of her body was mutilated and deformed.
Reluctantly, he put away his knife and stood up. This action caught her attention.
"You can't—"
"I'm wasting my time. I'll find Mavi anyway—"
"Wait!" The wounded Assassin gritted his teeth. Then he gasped and said, "Mavi is going to- Mavi is going to kill those upper elves." First of all...... First of all, their leaders...... And then there are others. ”
This information did not shock him too much, because he had already witnessed it. "I already know that. Farewell, Niva......"
"Wait!" She coughed, more blood gushing out of her mouth. "Wait- wait. Your sister...... Your sister has another surprise. I...... I can't ask you to save those damn mages...... But I ...... I can give you the Great Druid......"
He could hardly hide the effect of the secret on him. Garrod returned to Niva's side. "Malfurion, what's wrong with him, where is he?"
She glared at him. "First of all...... You...... You have to make sure that. I know you, Shadow Song. Mavi said...... Say you always keep your promises...... Like a good boy. Tell me...... Tell me you're going to kill me, and I'll give you the Great Druid......" another cough. More blood. "It doesn't matter...... If the upper elves died, he would be disgraced......"
Mavi captures Malfurion...... The terrible thought flashed through Garrod's mind. He couldn't believe that his sister wasn't ready to kill the Great Druid at any moment. Time is of the essence. "I promise you. I will put an end to your suffering. ”
She looked much more relieved. However, it was bloodless. She did her best to tell him the route he should take. Garrod, a warrior familiar with communicating with the dying, could tell that she wasn't lying. There are a few flaws in her description. But he felt he knew it well enough.
"You...... You promised. She continued.
"I know," Garrod replied, and drew his dagger.
Niva looked at the knife, then looked up at the sky.
"You...... It's too late to stop her," Niva said hoarsely. "It's too late......"
He didn't say anything, skillfully fulfilling his promise with a dagger.
When he was done, Garrod Shadowsong stood up. Even though Niva was an enemy, he still regretted that she had suffered so long. That's not his style. However, Garrod needed to know what his sister wanted to do and where. Even though Niva didn't tell her, she said at least one thing. To be honest, in Garrod's opinion, this is far more important than the lives of all the upper elves combined...... Malfurion's whereabouts. Nothing is more important than saving the Great Druid.
Garrod leaned over towards Idric. He used his finger to draw a crescent moon in the sky against the werewolf's body. That's Elune's badge. He prayed that the Lady of the Moon would take Idric's soul to the place where the werewolves would go after their death. Idrik has proven himself to be a great comrade-in-arms, not inferior to any of Garrod's side-by-side comrades on the battlefield. There are such people on their side, and if the members of the alliance don't see the point of this, then they are all fools. They may even reverse the Horde's advantage, though for now they seem to be better suited to the wild world that Azeroth has become than the Alliance.
The Night Elf turned away as fast as he could, and it was only then that he remembered that he had forgotten to ask Chineva if there was any other trap between him and Malfurion. If you are not careful, the operation to rescue the Great Druid will end before it has even begun.
And this time, there will be no one to save Garrod again. (To be continued......)
