Chapter 497: Sunrise
Varian would never allow such a thing to happen. Without thinking, he rushed forward and grabbed Anduin's arm.
The prince let out a scream. The great fear in Wari subsided for a moment, and then he realized that he was clenching Anduin's arm.
"I-I-" The king let go of his hand. Anduin clutched his injured arm in shock. Varian was able to strangle his enemies with just one hand, and had done so more than once, as they both knew. The legendary power of Rakesh is unrivaled by few in the world.
Now, under the sudden outbreak of madness, even if it was only for a moment, he used the same force on his rebellious son......
"I-Anduin-" Varian was speechless. His most cherished person in this world was looking at him with fear. "I never wantedβ"
Their guards suddenly ran over. Varian could only guess that they had heard Anduin's cry, and feared for the prince's life.
"Your Majesty!" The chief guard shouted. "Did someone attack you two?"
"It's fine. Anduin interjected, rubbing his arm. "There's no danger here...... Isn't it, Father?"
Anduin turned away again. Varian tried to reach out and pull him but stopped, and he saw the guards trying to block the prince's path as he did.
"Where are you going, Anduin?"
The prince stopped and turned to look at his father. "Go to Viren. I walked with the Draenei when he left. β
The king was not surprised, but felt a tingling in his heart. It was much easier for the Prophet to talk to his son than it was for him. "You've talked to -- have you talked to him?"
"I talked to him about continuing to study the Light. β
"You can go back to Stormwind and learn from Archbishop Benedictas!" Varian didn't care what the guards thought of him. This is his son, and he is going to lose him.
When hearing the archbishop's name. Anduin frowned. "Benedictas...... Not quite suitable...... I don't know why. But I just know. I had to learn what I wanted to learn elsewhere. Rohan said the same to me once. β
The king did not notice such a trifle at all. He cursed the dwarf silently. Silently cursing Viren...... And finally himself.
"They can bring my stuff on board. Father. β
"Viren probably won't bring you back to the Delaney capital. β
Anduin paused to think about it, and Varian rekindled hope. Next: "If he doesn't take me away, he'll know where I have to go to get there." Goodbye, Father. β
"Don'tβ" The former gladiator swallowed back what he was about to say. By now the guards had understood what was happening, and they all looked as if they were all waiting for the slightest signal. As soon as the king showed the slightest hint of suggestion, they would take it as a direct order and rush forward to surround the prince.
His decision not to let the guards interfere sent a sad smile to Anduin's face. "Thank you. β
"IβI swear to your queen mother that I will never hurt you again. Anduin. Either way!" He walked towards his son, trying to hold him in his arms.
The prince's eyes widened and he stepped back, then replied, "I know. β
Anduin turned to walk, and Varian could only assume that it was the direction of the Prophet's quarters. The king watched his son disappear from view, and he knew that the last thing he saw in Anduin's eyes was a shadow of fear, fearing that Varian would hurt him again.
"Your Majesty......," said the chief of the guard hesitantly. "Are you sure you don't want usβ"
"Stand down," he replied briefly. "All down. β
The guards quickly obeyed the order without asking a question. In the end, Varian was left alone.
It was only then that he realized how terrified he was of spending the rest of his life alone.
When he left his father, Anduin was determined to do so. But the farther he went, the more hesitant he became. However. Something was pushing him on.
Somehow, he knew he could find Viren in the temple garden again. The Draenei had just begun to meditate. The young man's sudden appearance did not bother him.
But that doesn't mean that Viren didn't know why Anduin was coming.
"You have spoken to your father," the Prophet whispered. "I can feel that something is going on between the two of you. β
Anduin didn't feel the need to beat around the bush. "Viren, I know my path now. I want to go with you. β
Delaney looked uneasy. "How do you know?"
"What do you mean?"
"I have something to attend to somewhere else. I'm going to pick another priest to represent the Delaney, and I'm going to leave tomorrow morning after saying goodbye to the hosts. β
Now Anduin understood. "I don't know. All I know is that if I want to learn the Light, I'd better come to you. β
"Your Father's ......"
"I told him. β
The Prophet frowned. "Maybe you should think again. The path of the Light is not easy, and you are still young. Yes, honestly, you're gifted. Come back to me in three years, maybeβ"
"If you want to leave me behind, I'll follow. I knew I had made the right choice. I can feel it. β
"So young...... And it's so ripe," the Draenei sighed. He noticed that the young man was covering his arm. "You have wounds. Let me help you. The Prophet placed the palm of his hand on his wound.
The light radiated from the palms of the Draenei, a stunning glow the size of an apple but still magnificent. As the radiance spread to the injured area, Anduin's pain in his arm quickly subsided, and in the blink of an eye, only memory remained.
At the same time, Anduin felt his heart surge. His emotions were high, and it was love and forgiveness.
And in the midst of these emotions, a scene gradually takes shape. It's not from memory, it's from imagination. Anduin had only seen his own queen mother in portraits, so the image of the queen mother in his mind gradually took shape during his young life. Her image is radiant, gentle and virtuous......
"You love her very much, your mother," Viren whispered. He didn't explain why he knew what Anduin was thinking. After all, he was the prophet Viren.
"I was a baby when she died, but I knew so much from my father and the rest of the palace that I felt like I knew her...... Love her. β
The Draenei nodded. "You love your father too. β
Anduin swallowed, remembering the pain in his arm and the frustration he often felt with the king...... But there's also everything Varian has worked so hard to do for him. "Of course. Whatever disagreements we have......"
Viren lowered his arm. The light dimmed from his hands and from the prince's arms. Those emotions subsided, though they never disappeared completely.
This is one of the reasons why the Light is so close to you. The Prophet smiled. "Good, Anduin. We set off at sunrise. (To be continued......)
