Chapter Ninety-Two: Durmstrang Strange Things
"The door opened."
At one o'clock in the morning, with the roar of lightning, candles floated in the air of the North Tower that could illuminate the entire tower.
All the professors were woken up by Professor Harlenius, and even Miss Strick, who was sleeping grogily, lay on the doorway in a daze, staring blankly at the other side.
Professor Van Sente had gone to find Professor Danlin, who was still in the East Tower, and several other professors were gathered around the half-hidden doorway.
Among them, Professor Merino had a cold face, looking at the surrounding professors unmoved, and he just wanted to kick open the door and go in to have a look, but was stopped by Professor Haronnius.
"Don't go in yet, wait for Winnie to come over."
Professor Harlenius's face was bad, and he looked at the half-hidden door and pulled Professor Merino back again.
Ranco looked through the crack in the door, and strangely, it was pitch black inside, even though the lightning outside lit up the entire sky, and the candles in the north tower expelled all the darkness, but failed to illuminate the room.
'There are traces of a curse. β
His mind moved, and he took out his wand without much expression.
"Eh, Malfoyβ"
Professor Harlenius grabbed Malfoy by the collar and tried to lift it up for him, but Malfoy slipped away too fast and didn't catch it, but was eventually stopped by Professor Vega on the side.
"I said you ......"
Professor Harlenius looked at them one by one, hiss, and really had a headache.
"Professor Harlenius, what do you mean by 'the door is open'?"
Seeing that there was no chance to enter for the time being, Professor Malfoy regretfully put away his wand and asked instead.
"This door shouldn't have been opened."
Professor Haronnius tugged at Professor Merino again, and only let go of his hand when Professor Merino almost took his wand impatiently.
Coughing lightly, Professor Harlenius endured the headache and said to several professors with a slightly pale face:
"You've probably heard the legend of the 'Hanged Undead' in schools."
"Hanged undead?"
What Professor Harlenius said intrigued Professor Malfoy.
The hanged undead, in other words, is not the hanged ghost?
"Malfoy, you've just arrived, it's normal that you haven't heard of it." Professor Harlenius coughed twice, then continued:
"'The Hanged Undead', 'The Corpse of a Woman in the Lake', 'The Boys' Bathroom on the Second Floor of the Castle', 'The Dead Standing Dead', 'The Seventh Basement'...... And so on, Durmstrang is a place with a long history and various magical transformations inside, and there will always be many strange things, and a lot of strange things have been handed down. β
"While some of the stories are just random things made up by boring people, some of them do have real prototypes."
As a veteran gossip enthusiast, Professor Harlenius is a no-brainer of this kind of thing: "'The Hanged Undead' tells the story of another powerful wizard who once took a spike and nailed a rope to the ceiling one night and hanged himself in his room. β
"Hanging? It's a rare way to die. β
Professor Merino scoffed, and Professor Malfoy fully expressed his interest.
Hanging yourself may be common in the Muggle world, but it is rare in the wizarding world, after all, there are cheap poisons in the wizarding world that are not painful and have a very elegant appearance.
It's much faster and more comfortable to use this stuff than to hang yourself.
Professor Malfoy looked at the half-open room and pointed:
"So, this is the room of the hanged man you were talking about?"
A powerful wizard who can live in the North Tower should also be a professor.
But even if the manner of death is unusual, it should not be a reason for Professor Haronnius to be afraid.
He was thoughtful, there should be a secret in this.
Professor Harlenius nodded, and at this point, there was no more blood on his face, and even the red candle flame could not fill the coldness that seemed to soak into the bone marrow.
"Yes, this is the room where the wizard hanged himself." Professor Harlenius continued: "The reason why you are not allowed to go in is because I have heard something. β
"You should know that the wizards on the school roster, even if they are hit by death, as long as they are within the school area, will not die immediately, even if they die due to some external force, they will become the ghosts of the school in a period of days to months."
Professor Harlenius's voice was gifted with storytelling, but apart from Professor Malfoy's interest, the faces of the other two professors gradually became strange and solemn.
Unaware of the other two professors' strangeness, Professor Harlenius continued:
"Since that's the case, you should also be curious, since none of the wizards on the school roster really die, and even if they die, they will transform into an existence similar to the Earthbound Spirit, so where do those wizards who turn into ghosts go after they die?"
Yes, Durmstrang has no ghosts.
Ranko had already discovered this when he first arrived in Durmstrang.
No matter how old and protective a school is, there will always be exceptions. Hogwarts Castle is home to many ghosts, most of whom were former residents of the castle who were forcibly transformed into Earthbound spirits by Hogwarts' unique magical powers after death.
Among them, Barrow the Bloody, Nick and Helena Ravenclaw are all more famous Hogwarts ghosts. They were all forcibly left until now because of the school's magic, and they have completely become part of the Hogwarts Magic Castle, and they can no longer be separated.
It stands to reason that there are no ghosts in Durmstrang, who is on the same level as Hogwarts, but the truth is that there really are no ghosts here.
"Where have all those ghosts gone?"
Professor Malfoy asked curiously.
He was really curious, and since he entered Durmstrang, he had found that he had underestimated the foundation of a magic school.
"They can't exist within the confines of the school because of the thing behind you."
Lightning pierced the sky and illuminated Professor Harlenius' face.
His pale face underwent a strange change, and many tiny dark spots began to appear on his pale skin, as well as faint black-red patches under the skin.
Professor Merino quietly took out his wand and was about to raise it, when Professor Malfoy on the side silently pressed it down with his hand.
He still had a curious smile on his face, as if he hadn't noticed Professor Haronius's oddity.
"There is a problem with the school's protective magic, which affects the formation of ghosts, and once a ghost appears, then their first stop will definitely be this room on the fourth floor of the North Tower."
As he spoke, Professor Harlenius suddenly felt a little itchy in his neck, as if someone had put hemp rope around his neck.
He wanted to scratch it, repeating the gossip he had just 'heard' as he thought about it:
"The professor had become a terrible wraith in the room where he had died, and the newborn ghost was too weak to be devoured. Therefore, I don't know when the school stopped allowing new ghosts to be generated, and the original ghosts were either asleep or dissipated for various reasons. Over time, ghosts were no longer seen in the school. β
It's weird, it's really itchy.
Professor Harlenius' hand touched his neck, where there was a shallow dent.
He didn't see it clearly, but the rest of the professors saw the truth, and at some point a black line appeared on Professor Harlenius's neck, and the other end of the line connected to the half-open door!
At the moment when the black line appeared, Professor Vega and Professor Merino suddenly raised their hands!
At the same moment, Professor Harlenius's face changed drastically, as if he had woken up.
He wanted to get his wand, but there was a low-pressure sound like a leaky wind in his throat, and then the black line tightened, and before the spells of several professors could be cast, his whole body was dragged forward by a huge force, crashing into Professor Malfoy, and he was quickly dragged into the black door with him!
The sound of the door slamming violently woke Miss Stricker from the daze, and at the same time Professor Vincent and Professor Danlin arrived, standing in front of the reclosed door with the other two professors, their faces solemn.
