Chapter 493: Taking over as Captain
The remaining eight Tribal ships have finally arrived at Rusty Waterport, and they look like a fleet of ghosts of the Forsaken. Rustwater Harbor sits on the coastline of Azhara to the east of Ash Valley. When the goblins running the harbor had everything in place, Captain Briinin went ashore. He had done his best to get the cargo to its destination and was now happy to be able to get rid of it...... Even if it meant that he had to admit his defeat to the Great Chief.
Since his last visit, the port has been fully expanded. The castle's main building stands tall above the entire island, and is bustling with people, most of them goblins, who are not only managing the moored ships, but also dealing with all sorts of affairs related to the tribe, large and small. On another pier, a crane with a huge hook is carrying supplies onto a battleship.
A goblin scurries from a distance with a machine used to load and unload cargo. When confronted by enemies, the foul-smelling machine has the deadly power of a lumberjack, but it also pales in comparison to the natural fury of Brienin's cargo.
The first giant cargo hold has been opened, and the crew has begun to load and unload the cages covered with cloth. The orcs who had been through the entire voyage looked very different than they had ever been. They all looked haggard and nervous.
A few snickerers rang from the dockside, where two goblins stood by. Brinnin let out a low roar and walked towards the two short, thin figures, towers standing in front of them.
"The Great Chief's pets are hungry for a long time! they need a snack or two......" Seeing that the goblins were silent, he added, "Now." You're either going to help your accomplices take over the cages. Or just make them a meal......"
The two goblins swallowed hard. Suddenly became polite. They saluted the captain of the fleet and then sped off to carry out the order.
Brinnin let out a chuckle, then remembered once again the dire situation he faced. He is more likely to be the one who will become a meal on his plate than those goblins.
He suddenly noticed a movement coming from the direction of the mainland. A sizable contingent was approaching by boat, with at least half a dozen strong guards on board, and they must have been the famous Kukaron Guards of the Great Chief.
"Garrosh," he whispered. Brienen never thought about how to avoid this encounter. His honor is more important than his life, and he must not let the stigma of a coward fall at this last minute.
The crew and dock workers have been placed in six cages in an open field specially prepared for them. Brinnin is proud of these officers and men who have gone through this epic journey together. Praise them well before he is executed.
Garrosh and his entourage were covered in dust and leaves. It shows that they have also just arrived in Azara. The Great Chief had an expectant look on his face, but Brienin didn't know if it was a bad luck for him, so he didn't have much hope.
As the leader of the tribe walked by, the orcs and goblins threw their right fists into their left chests. Garrosh himself did not ask for this to be a sign of loyalty, but the commanders used it to show their reverence to their subordinates.
Brinnin threw her chest in salute like everyone else, but kept her head down. If Garrosh wants to, he will be able to take the head immediately.
"Briinen," the Grand Chief rumbled. "You've come all the way here. ”
"Serving the tribe and you is no slouch. The captain replied, glancing up with a broad brow. "And compared to the grueling journey that my Great Chief has just experienced. The danger is not worth mentioning!"
"We're all working for something bigger. Garrosh's gaze shifted from him to the cage. "Eight. It should have been more. ”
"Encountering some ...... Troublesome. ”
"Storm?"
"Yes, plus the commotion of the cargo. Much of the powder mixture used to calm the beast was lost. So we can only do our best. Brinnin said as she felt more and more ashamed. His answer was feeble, and he wondered if Garrosh would cut off his tongue so he could shut it.
"Eight," the Great Chief repeated. "Let me see. ”
Brinnin is now certain of his fate. Garrosh will not take his head; It's about having a giant beast tear him to shreds. Brinnin doesn't blame the Great Chief. For a person who has failed so much, this is a reasonable punishment.
He brought Garrosh and the others to the first cage. The beast inside was enraged by the smell of the proximity of the large number of orcs, and shook the cage to a rock.
"Pull back the cover!" The captain of the fleet ordered.
The four crew members used a rope to pull back the cloth covering the cage door. As a result, the cage shook more violently, and a low roar came from inside. The other caged beasts chimed in. Brinnin felt a bit of déjà vu. Almost one or two beasts will burst out of their cages. Spear-wielding guards quickly rushed forward to protect the Grand Chief in case of an accident.
The awe of the guards around Garrosh did not comfort the captain. They ought to be perfectly surprised and overly careful about the loot that their leader had ordered to be shipped from Northrend. But this task was not assigned to any of them. They can be safe and sound. Brining is different.
Garrosh approached...... It seemed to the captain of the fleet that it was simply too close. The beast apparently thought so, and leaned forward to squeeze an arm out of the railing. Unlike the monster before it, its attempt failed. Then it tried to bend them again, and the railing creaked intimidatingly, but it didn't give in...... Temporarily.
The terrifying caged monster was fierce, but the Great Chief was unmoved. He looked at Guard Kukaron and said, "They must be reminded of the purpose of this trip...... and what happens if they don't. ”
For the first time in several years, Brinnin was reminded that these beasts were almost as intelligent as the people who captured them, one way or another. Of course, they are much more primitive, but almost as intelligent.
One of Garrosh's guards gestured to another Kukaron guard. The man stood in the doorway of a metal longhouse to the north. They had clearly planned such a scene. And the captain of the fleet knew what was going on.
The grim-looking guard walked into the longhouse. The beast in front of Garrosh was furious. And seven other beasts joined the savage fervor. Orcs and goblins everywhere are nervous, waiting for disaster to strike. Only the Great Chief and the Kukaron Guardians remained absolutely calm, even a little expectant.
Suddenly there were several snorts of surprise in the longhouse. Brinnin had never heard anything like it.
No...... The voice was familiar. Although they were higher pitched and sounded more curious than scared, they were very similar to the low roar of the goods.
And these caged creatures know this too. The eight cages fell silent almost simultaneously.
Garrosh nodded at the beast in front of him. The Great Chief didn't seem happy about what had just happened, but resigned himself to it. "Now you get the idea. They're all right, as I promised. Therefore keep your promises. ”
There was a grunt from the cage. Garrosh motioned for the orcs to lower the cloth again. It wasn't until the cage was completely covered that Brining breathed a sigh of relief.
The guard who had walked into the longhouse had now stepped out again. With a nervous look on his face, he came over to report to the Grand Chief. Garrosh instructed the crowd, including the captain, to stand farther away from the cage.
"I did as you commanded. The Kukaron Guardian whispered so that only those around Garrosh could hear. "I fed the cubs some sweet meat that they liked. So they really made a fuss. Is that enough?"
Garrosh nodded approvingly. "The beast has heard it. Now they will be obedient. Just have to remind them of the agreement between us. ”
At the moment Brinnin did not envy Garrosh; As he sought to look out for the long-term interests of his subordinates, the complexities of being a commander often tore at his sense of honor. The legendary warrior's brow furrowed. "How many people died on the way back with these eight beasts?"
Brinnin estimated the number of people, not just the losses on the ship heading south, but also the casualties they had suffered on the way to the harbor in Northrend. The numbers finally told to the Great Chief shocked him, and Brienin tried not to think about so many people giving their lives while he himself lived.
Garrosh was equally surprised, and he didn't hide it completely. "So much, so much...... But when the valley of ash falls into our hands, all these sacrifices are worth it, very much worth it!" The leader of the tribe straightened up. At the moment he was a completely focused and confident commander. "When we crushed the enemy, the soldiers who died on the way to transport these beasts. Their souls will be with us! When the last outpost falls, victory will be ours as well as theirs!"
His oath provoked cheers from those around him, including Brienin. Even if he was about to be executed, Brinnin hoped that he would at least be remembered along with the other dead on this mission. But he couldn't ask the question.
"Captain Briinen. ”
The old seaman swallowed. He immediately slammed his fist in the chest, then lowered his head and bared his neck. "My Great Chief, I have no excuse for my failures! You ordered us to bring back ten, and I only sent eight! The fleet under my command suffered heavy casualties!" Brinnin waited for the Bloody Roar to cut off his head, but since the legendary battle axe hadn't cut off his head, he continued. "My Great Chief, I confess to all these failures! My honor has been tarnished, and I await the sanction of fate!"
There was silence before he heard Garrosh speak, "Your honor is your life." ”
"Yes, my Great Chief. ”
"And you give me your life. ”
Briinen again agreed. At the same time, he thought to himself that my defeat was too humiliating! Before I was allowed to die to clear my shame, Garrosh would undoubtedly punish my defeat with pain!
"Well, if your life belongs to me, then your honor belongs to me...... Since my honor is at stake, I will be redeemed in the war!"
The captain couldn't help but look up in amazement. "I don't understand, Great Chief......"
"You will join us on the Ashenvale and watch your achievements sweep through the Alliance! You will fight on the front lines, and if you die, your name will be sung by our people for generations to come!"
Garrosh himself held out a hand to Brinnin. The captain stared at him with wide eyes.
"Your first mate will take over as captain. You will now command the soldiers on the battlefield and will be directly accountable to me. ”
Brinnin puffed out his chest proudly. "I'll kill a hundred Night Elves before I fall! I'll single-handedly defeat the Silverwing Outpost!"
The Great Chief chuckled softly. "Fight well. That's all I have to say. ”
"I will!"
There was a low roar from the nearest cage that was tentative rather than threatening. The creatures had succumbed. (To be continued......)
