Chapter 490: Arc Gap

The archers regrouped, though they had begun in loose formation, so that they could suffer fewer casualties if the orcs returned fire. The criterion of success depends on keeping casualties to a minimum, and just thinking about this also annoys Hadrisha, but this is war. She only wanted to save the lives of her officers and soldiers as much as possible, even if it meant sacrificing others...... And that includes herself.

In a few minutes, the Hippogriffs were ready. During this time, the orcs never shot an arrow or blew a number one. This made Hadrisha feel a little worried. Whoever was directing the attack, Hadrisha believed he must have some insidious plan.

Dani signaled to her. Hadrisha silently motioned for the archers to get ready. As they took aim, she nodded to the brave scouts and Hippogriffs, then her lieutenant.

Dani waved to the scouts. The winged beasts soared into the air, and the riders on their backs bent over. Each mount flies in a slightly different direction, but all head west.

"Shoot!" Hadrisha ordered.

The first few columns of archers were ordered to release their arrows. But the soldiers in the back row continued to stand by, as Hadrisha had previously directed.

A rain of arrows poured down into the forest. At that moment, the horned eagles flapped their wings even more violently, rising higher and higher into the sky.

Hadrisha gave the order again. The archers in the back row began to shoot. At this point, the soldiers who fired the first round began to prepare again.

However, there was no return fire. Hadrisha waited with bated breath, expecting the Horde to try to shoot down the herd of horned eagles. But they didn't do anything.

Eventually, the Hippogriff and their riders flew out of range of their bows and arrows. The commander finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Look over there!" Someone shouted.

Hadrisha searched for the rain of arrows she had been waiting for. But what ushered in was an even more shocking scene. Nearly a dozen indistinct specks appeared in the eastern sky. They are high up and approaching quickly. It appears to have a reptilian body and bat-like wings. Red reptilian body.

The "Red Dragon ......" Hadrisha gasped for air, and then recognized that the creatures were more savage in appearance and more primitive in shape. "No...... It's the Red Ancestral Dragon......"

She had only heard of them in Northrend, but there were rumors that the tribe was trying to take them elsewhere. These ferocious creatures with sharp teeth in their bloody mouths scurried through the air, clearly with a clear goal. These Ancestral Dragons had sharp tips on their wings, and let out a roar with terrible eagerness as they flew closer.

Too late, Hadrisha realized that her actions were playing into the hands of the tribe. Since the Horde has already attacked. They expected her to send a new warning to Darnassus.

Hadrisha had just sent the rider and their mounts on the road of no return.

It's impossible for a tribe to have too many Ancestral Dragons. At the moment, if not all, of these are the majority. However, this is more than enough for their needs. Archaeopteryx was nearly twice as numerous as the Hippogriffs, so they split into groups of two to pursue the unsuspecting riders.

Dani blew her horn to warn. Although some of the scouts apparently reacted, it was too late. The Archaeopteryx and the orc knights on their backs had been waiting in the vicinity, so it didn't take them long to catch up with their prey.

Hippogriffs are not defenseless, and the ones domesticated by the Sentinels are better at fighting. Unable to distance themselves enough from their pursuers, most of the Hippogriffs turned to face the Ancestral Dragons. The scouts also had their bows and arrows ready.

A lucky scout killed an orc riding an Ancestral Dragon with a single arrow. The dead warrior tumbled from his mount and fell like a stone to the ground of the Ash Valley.

Two Ancestral Dragons surrounded a horned Hippogriff. The Hippogriff flicked its claws and tore at the face of the nearest Ancestral Dragon. The orc knight tried to aim his opponent with his bow, but the pain of his mount caused him to miss an arrow. The Hippogriff shot back with the same success as the previous one, and one more of the tribe's corpses fell to the ground.

Unfortunately. With its attention focused on an Ancestral Dragon, the Hippogriff inevitably ignored another enemy. The scout drew his bow and arrows again, ready to shoot. But he exposed himself to the battleaxe of the Ancestral Dragon Knight.

The orc slashed with an axe, the blade slashing through the armor and into the flesh, and the scout screamed and covered the bleeding severed arm. A second swing of the tomahawk put an end to the Night Elf's suffering. The Hippogriff continued to fight, but the knight on his back had died.

The brave beast struck at the underbelly of the second Ancestral Dragon. The monster let out a roar of pain and rolled to the side. The orc wanted to hold his mount tight, but he couldn't do so with a tomahawk in one hand.

As if receiving a silent order, the first Archaeopteryx suddenly appeared and saved the fallen orcs. He grabbed the handrail and rolled over and stepped onto his new mount.

The mortally wounded Archaeopteryx and its companion pounced on the horned eagle. Sharp teeth gnaw at wings, sharp claws tear at the neck.

The horned Hippogriff unleashed the final blow on the most wounded foe. He stabbed through the throat of the Archaeopteryx, and the Archaeopteryx's claws pierced into one of the Hippogriff's wings.

The two beasts are entangled and fall together towards their own end.

In order to accomplish their mission, the two-headed Hippogriff attempted to flee west. Despite the scouts on their backs firing arrows at their pursuers, one of the Hippogriffs did not fly far before being intercepted by an Ancestral Dragon. Unlike previous battles, the Hippogriff and Night Elf were torn to shreds under their fangs and tomahawks before they could make an effective defense.

As the trapped defenders fell one by one, the scale of this air battle quickly shrank. Two more Archaeopteryx were killed - and the orcs on their backs - but soon only the last scout and his horned eagle remained. They tried to escape the enemy's pursuit, but the two Ancestral Dragons with riders were still slowly approaching. It's a clever trap, and Hadrisha feels personally responsible for every death in front of her.

To make matters worse, she couldn't do anything but sit and watch the last scout get into trouble. The scout fought as valiantly as his Hippogriff and his comrades, even killing an Ancestral Dragon and its knights, but eventually they fell as well. The fight lasted only about four minutes, but Hadrisha felt like a never-ending scene of horror.

During this time, the sentinels did not stand there stupidly. The spearmen on the Nightblade Leopards were ready to charge the door. The sentinels fighting on foot clung to the moon blades in their hands. The archers stretched their bows and arrows, waiting only to hear the signal that the tribe would finally attack in full force.

The guards on the walls looked out vigilantly through the arc gap, waiting for the first round of the orcs' onslaught.

But nothing happened. (To be continued......)
