Chapter 49: Savage's Territory 3
This monster is called the Blue-Footed Snake, a magical creature that can attract lightning and attack with lightning. Siegel had read about this monster in the book, but for a moment he couldn't connect it to what was in front of him. He stood in the doorway, short dagger in hand, on full alert, observing the monster's movements.
"There are still ambushes, despicable humans!" the monster spoke, accompanied by a string of sounds that were like donkeys barking and crows, very harsh. Siegel only felt a tingling pain in his ears, and his body couldn't help shaking.
"Die!" the green-footed snake lifted its body, and a flash of light burst out between the horns on its head, gathering into a tumbling ball of thunder. Seegal smelled the lightning magic energy gathering in the air, and immediately pronounced the secret word "Schlack"! The wand flicked into his hand, and the magic gathered at the tip of the wand, forcing the surrounding rain away.
Siegel can only emit small arcs of electricity, which is far from the strength of the lightning beam, so he can't annihilate the monster's lightning attack by means of elemental cancellation. However, he can use the Elemental Resistance Shield, which greatly reduces the power of lightning with this protective magic. As for the part of the energy that the shield can't resist, you can only rely on your body to resist.
Lightning shot out, shields opened, and the two collided with a fierce flash of light and a dull thunderclap. The shield didn't completely block the lightning, and the escaping energy blasted into rubble, leaving fine wounds on Siegel's body. The kitten exclaimed, immediately fell down, and blocked his eyes with his arm before escaping.
Siegel endured the pain in his body, concentrated all his strength on his limbs, and used the power of his will to force himself to rush out of the rain curtain and kill the bluefoot snake. Relying on the resistance of the dice, he quickly got rid of the effects of paralysis. There would be a violent splash in the first few steps he took, but the next few steps had already regained the level of the elven war dance, causing only a circle of ripples like a dragonfly dotting water.
However, in order to resist these spells, he has consumed a lot of energy, and now he has begun to feel hungry.
When the blue-footed snake launched the lightning, it also felt a force blocking its attack, and knew that the lightning did not achieve the maximum effect, so it was also ready to continue fighting. As Siegel charged forward, the monster was already hunched down, arcing on the ground like a snake, tilting its head and opening its mouth to rush forward, like a jagged guillotine attacking from the flanks.
There was a sudden shout in the sky, and the giant-like man leapt from the top of the broken tower wall, his feet slamming into the body of the blue-footed snake. The monster's body folded in half, spurting a large amount of blood from its mouth, and the wound muscles were squeezed outward.
Siegel pounced on it and slashed at the chin of the blue-footed serpent, trying to cut off its most powerful weapon, its fangy mouth. The monster's scales were tougher than expected, and they were covered in slippery mud. The dagger successfully plunged into the body of the blue-footed snake, cutting a large wound, but was unable to decapitate it.
The monster didn't rest on its laurel, it stretched its neck sharply, its huge mouth under the hood of Siegel, and the strong bad breath made people feel dizzy. The green-footed snake has the ability to swallow people alive, and few people can escape from its stomach full of stomach acid. Siegel hurriedly dodged, dodging the deadly live swallow with the agility of the elven war dance, but was still bitten on the thigh by a crocodile-like mouth. Two rows of fangs pierced into the muscles, and the massive bite nearly tore his leg off.
Janet screamed, and she tried to resist her fear of lightning and shot the light crossbow in her hand. The bolt hits the monster, but only one of its scales is removed. The kitten barks loudly and tells Siegel to run as he tries to reload his crossbow.
The giant in animal skin hurried to help, grabbed the upper and lower jaws of the blue-footed snake with both hands, and pulled it out with all his might. I saw that the muscles of his whole body were like steel casting, and they rattled like the winch of a ship. The green-footed snake tossed its twelve legs on the ground in pain, and let out a gurgling sound in its throat.
The teeth of the green-footed snake are razor-shaped barbs that grow to prevent the creatures that swallow it from crawling out, so it hurts more when pulled out than when inserted. Siegel pointed his wand at the monster's open throat and chanted the incantation in excruciating pain. An icy ray struck the most vulnerable part of the monster's throat, freezing its esophagus. The pain in the heart was unbearable for the monster, and it began to die frantically. Siegel was knocked aside and fell into the rain. Even the strong man was thrown out by the tremendous force, but he frantically tugged at the roof of the blue-footed snake's jaw and actually tore off three teeth.
The blue-footed snake gulped out blood mixed with ice ballast, and looked at Siegel with frantic eyes, constantly brewing lightning energy between the horns on its head. This time, the distance between the two was too close, and even if Siegel resisted with the elements, it would be difficult to dodge the pounce of the monsters that followed. As long as he can drag this blow through, the giant will be able to follow in time and unleash the ability to engage in hand-to-hand combat. Siegel had only a split second to react, and he had to make a decision right away.
Siegel waved his wand, and a rope shot out of thin air from the tip of his wand, binding a large rock not far away, and the other end was still tied to his wrist. He tugged on the rope so hard that it suddenly began to shrink and become shorter. With this skill, Siegel was dragged to glide through the dirt, quickly traversing dangerous parts of the battlefield, and soon being able to hide behind cover in the ruins of buildings. Sensing the enemy's intention to escape, the blue-footed snake immediately activated the energy of lightning in advance, hitting Siegel's escaping body fiercely. This time there is no protection from the elemental magic shield, so it should be right on target. But when the dirt and rain burst out like fireworks, Siegel's figure shook and disappeared into thin air.
"I lied to you, fool!" Siegel was still in place, just a phantom he had cast to trick the Bluefoot. There are a lot of these tricks in the Mage Federation's illusion guide, and Siegel has been practicing hard, and now it's coming in handy. The success of the spell was also due to the environment, but fortunately it was surrounded by pouring rain and rumbling thunder, which interfered with the senses, so the illusion without sound did not arouse the suspicion of the blue-footed snake, and successfully allowed it to attack the wrong target. As a new mage, this was already the limit of Siegel's magical abilities, and more subtle illusions required him to continue practicing. Spells that worked, though, were good spells, and Siegel had survived the lightning ball spitting enough time for the burly man to deliver the fatal blow.
Pressing the green-footed snake back under him, the giant lifted his muscular arms as thick as the palace's load-bearing stone pillars, and slammed his frozen fist down, slamming the blue-footed snake's skull like a pile. The monster's shattered head was smashed to pieces like a walnut against a hammer. The monster's body bent outward, its spiky tail piercing the giant's back - the last curse the blue-footed snake had on its foe. A crossbow bolt came and hit its tail, weakening its power. The strong man's back was just left with a red mark.
Siegel was so tired that he lay in the muddy water, letting the rain pour on his face, not wanting to move. He didn't feel any pain in his legs, he just felt that his brain was wood, and he didn't have any energy at all. The strong man threw down the monster's corpse and hurried over to check it. Siegel's thigh from the bite of the green-footed snake had begun to turn blue, and the toxin had seeped into the bloodstream.
"The road clicks!" the brawny man shouted, putting Siegel down. Janet understood the language of the Northlands, and knew that it meant 'poisoned', and hurried over to check - the wound was blue and was turning black and purple. However, the demon has nothing to do about poisoning, she can neither detoxify nor treat, so she can only hold Siegel in her arms in distress, whimpering and speechless.
For a moment, Janet's mind went blank, and all her senses were focused on Siegel alone. The wind and rain and the thunder had disappeared from her world, and the bloody image of the strong man tearing the corpse of the blue-footed snake with his hands was only a vague phantom in her vision. Janet looked at Siegel and reached out to touch his hot skin, greedily trying to catch the temperature. She didn't know what kind of relationship it was, maybe not a lover, but at least it was sadder than the loneliness of a child who lost her home.
A dark shadow obscured the light around her, and she was indifferent, as the image of Siegel could be clearly seen in her eyes—the Demon could sense the temperature around her, both night and day. But an arm reached over and blocked Siegel's face, much to her annoyance. Janet's eyes turned pure red, her sharp canine teeth were exposed, and her tail wrapped around the dagger hidden in her belt. When the Demon Spawn looked closely, it turned out to be the big blood-stained hand of the strong man, with a green ball between his index and middle fingers, exuding a bitter smell.
"Eat!" said the strong man correctly this time.
Janet hid her tail, put away her fangs, and hurriedly pried open Siegel's mouth, allowing the strong man to stuff the gall of the green-footed snake into it. An extremely bitter sensation hit Siegel's mouth, and then permeated his entire head, and even the whole body, where there was no discomfort. He almost wanted to gag, but he couldn't vomit, he could only shake spasmodically. After a while, Siegel was revived by the unbearable bitterness of this world, and gradually regained his senses. No one noticed the twenty-sided dice on his chest, and the second number lit up, but it quickly dimmed and fell back to its original shape.
Siegel still felt weak, but he was able to open his mouth and stick his tongue out to let the rain wash hard. Janet watched him keep squeezing his eyebrows comically, and his whole mouth was green and smelling very weird, and then she kept listening to him babble. She only felt that the world suddenly came alive, and then laughed loudly.
The strong man laughed too, and suppressed the thunder.
