CHAPTER XIV
Late that night, on the lowest floor of the basement of the building where the Bloodclan hideout.
Deserted and empty, the metallic walls and floors are illuminated by the cold lights, and the central air-conditioning keeps this room deep underground at a comfortable constant temperature of 24 degrees Celsius all year round. A narrow passage leads to the innermost level, where the Blood's vault for valuables is kept.
At this moment at the entrance of the passage, two vampires stood bored against the wall, whispering something in the language of the Blood. In a guardhouse separated by thick bulletproof glass, another vampire sits cross-legged in front of a wall of dozens of small screens, his eyes scanning back and forth.
Suddenly, the vampire in the guard room noticed something unusual about one of the screens, which was the inside of an elevator, and at the moment a man was standing quietly in the elevator with his back to the camera.
He immediately gestured to the two vampires who were on guard outside, and they also noticed a slight mechanical roar from the elevator leading to the place, apparently moving towards it.
Before the time for the shift change came, the two vampires exchanged a wary look with each other, and they cautiously walked towards the elevator entrance, and at the same time pulled out the runic pistol hidden in their arms.
I heard a crisp sound of ding, the roar stopped, and the elevator stopped. As the metal door slid open to both sides, the man inside was revealed, and then two black holes pointed at him.
"Is that you?" Soon, the two vampires with their guns raised whispered in surprise.
In the elevator, John raised his hands with a smile and looked at a loss. Lowering the muzzle slightly, a vampire asked, "What are you doing here?" β
All the vampires didn't have a liking for the "surrendered" human, and they didn't trust him, and it was only because of Anne that John was able to roam freely in this edifice full of non-human races. Blatter had ordered no one to trouble John, so the two vampires didn't shoot him into a hornet's nest in the first place.
Blatter still held his hands high as he reached out and gently touched the self-closing elevator door to cause it to slide open again. He smiled bitterly, "Can you let me come out first and then answer?" β
After a moment's hesitation, the vampire nodded, and the other stepped back slightly, keeping the muzzle of the gun pointed at John's heart. Although it is a rune robbery that specializes in dealing with non-human races, its huge caliber can still easily blast a human body out of a large hole.
After the two vampires had retreated, John stepped out of the elevator. The vampire muttered, "Tell me, what are you doing here?" β
John grinned and said, "Anne and Blatt are going to check the safety of Pandora's box, let me come down first, no, aren't they coming?" As he spoke, he gestured back to the elevator.
The two vampires subconsciously looked towards the elevator, but the elevator's indicator light was still dim, and it was obvious that no one was using it at all. The vampire immediately scolded, "Nonsense, what the hell are you..."
Before he finished speaking, he felt a silver light flash in front of him, and something plunged into his throat. At the same time, John instantly lunged forward, stepped in front of another vampire, and swiped his right hand on his waist, followed by lightning strikes.
It was so sudden that the vampire didn't even know what was going on, and the silver light in John's hand had already swept neatly across his throat, and his face changed suddenly, and the vampire fell on his back.
At this moment, only a soft sound was heard, and the vampire killed by John's silver dagger exploded into a cloud of shiny red dust, which shows how fast he moved.
The vampire who watched John kill the two in the guard room reacted violently and slammed into the alarm bell on the table. It's a pity that he is fast, John is faster, and at the same time as he turned around and threw away the silver dagger in his hand, he slew down and picked up the rune gun dropped by the dead vampire, and raised his hand to shoot two shots without aiming.
The first bullet accurately hit the honeycomb-shaped sound hole in the bulletproof glass, and the second bullet followed closely as it shattered, ready to shoot through the vampire's eyebrows.
Only half a centimeter away from the alarm bell, the vampire guard's body shook like an electric shock, followed by a half-circle volley in the air under the force of the bullet, and exploded into a pool of red powder before it touched the ground.
"Whew...", exhaling softly, John slowly withdrew the hand that had fired the gun.
Looking at the remains of the three vampires with an unbearable expression, John seemed to be still hesitating about what he was going to do next. After a moment's hesitation, he grabbed the Templar necklace Cassias had left for him around his neck and prayed in a low voice. For a while, as if he had gained strength from the necklace, his face was flushed with determination, and he walked into the passage without looking back.
On the wall at the end there is a heavy metal vault door with a radius of two meters and a circular shape. The door is painted with intricate bloodline spells, and if you don't use the right method, you can't even force it open, whether it's a hot weapon or a spell.
In order to open the door, there are three necessary items: a special electronic card, a specific person's fingerprint, and a password. And there are only three people who have the right to open this door, Zhang Lie, Anne and Blatter.
Pausing beyond the protective barrier, John looked up at the large, cold metal door, behind which his target was. In fact, he came for Pandora's box, which was in the collection.
"You fools, do you think that if you get Pandora's Box and start a flood, you can really wipe out humanity?"
Ever since Anne attacked and killed the Elders that night, the words of the Elder Quetzalcoatl have been ringing in John's ears. And many things that I couldn't understand before suddenly became clear.
It is no wonder that the Inhuman Alliance desperately attacked the Vatican, but only snatched some things of unknown effect, it turned out that everything was because of this thing called "Pandora's Box".
Although John didn't know what was going on, he knew that Pandora's box was anything but good. And according to the words of the Elder of the Feathered Serpent, it is likely that the non-Humans will use it to create a shocking catastrophe and thus destroy the human race.
As a human, John was not qualified to attend the daytime meetings, so it was only natural that the representatives of the non-human race had come together to discuss plans for the destruction of humanity. What's more, when he approached the venue as close as possible, he faintly heard the cries of "unleashing a flood and destroying mankind" from inside.
At this point, John could no longer sit idly by. Although he was determined to abandon his Templar identity and stay with Anne. But there is another identity that John can never let go.
He's a man!
After a painful battle between heaven and man, John still couldn't resist his conscience as a human being, and secretly went down here. No matter how much he loved Anne, he would not hesitate to lose his life for her, but when his own people were threatened with destruction, he had to leave everything behind.
After standing still for a while, John sighed, "Anne, forgive me..."
Taking out a beautifully made electronic identification card from his arms, John swiped on the electronic lock next to the gate, and the red light on the electronic lock flashed several times in an instant, followed by a soft female voice: "Please enter the password." β
Needless to say, this card was stolen by John from Anne. Anne's personality is very direct, if she hates someone, then it is absolutely killing, but when she trusts someone, she trusts it unreservedly.
We can no longer explore the influence of this kind of personality on a person's fate, but there is an old Chinese saying that "love is not long, love is heavy and you die", and people with a happy and sad temperament are always more susceptible to tragic fate.
Because of this, John easily stole this precious electronic card from Anne and cleverly set out the password, and Anne, who was not confused, did not even notice it.
Skillfully enter the password, and a small LCD screen under the electronic lock lights up: request fingerprint recognition.
This was not difficult for John, a former Templar, who carefully wiped a flat box from his bosom and placed a thin, almost transparent glove on his hand.
The gloves are made of a special material that perfectly mimics human skin. What's more, if you wear these gloves and come into contact with other people, you can take their fingerprints, which have long been a favorite item for veteran spies and bank thieves from various countries.
John carefully adjusted the fit of the glove to his hand, and soon, his right hand no longer saw any foreign objects. A few days ago, when he had the idea of stealing, he used the gloves to get Anne's fingerprints.
John held his breath and pressed his palms on the LCD screen with his five fingers open. As a circle of light flowed along the edge of his palm, the outline of John's entire hand, along with his fingerprints, had been recorded by the computer.
Just a few seconds of waiting, John felt like hours. Finally, the soft female voice sounded again: "Welcome, Your Excellency Anne. β
"Whew..."Relieved, John wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead.
Syllable... With a loud mechanical impact, the circular metal door spun automatically, and when it turned to a certain angle, it slowly opened to the side with a staggered click, finally revealing the vault inside.
The vault is about thirty square meters, and you can see it from the main door. On a large metal table in the innermost part, the parts of the twelve Pandora's boxes are laid out (the Book of Heaven is still in Zhang Lie's personal collection).
Taking a deep breath, John suppressed his nervousness and walked inside. What is stored here are valuables collected by the blood clan for generations, so although the quantity is not much, any one taken out is a priceless treasure.
John didn't look at the alluring treasures and unknown things, and walked over to the long metal table. He knew from experience that none of the items that needed to be assembled would be effective without any of them, and he wouldn't be able to take all the parts with him.
After thinking about it for a moment, John decided to take the two smallest parts. He didn't dare to destroy it on the spot, and in addition to the fact that it was likely to be detected by the people above, he was not sure that he would destroy these things that contained great power at a glance.
Placing the selected parts in the prepared canvas bag, John made his way to the door. He hesitated as he stepped out of the vault, for he knew very well how much damage he would do to Anne if he walked away like this.
If given a choice, John would rather die himself than grieve Anne again. However, the stakes are not just for him alone, but for the survival of the entire human race.
"Yes, I don't have a choice." Finally, John told himself.
He didn't hesitate anymore, and walked out without looking back, carrying a canvas bag.
********************************************************************
It wasn't until three hours later that the vampires who came to inspect discovered that the vault had been stolen, and they immediately reported it to Blatter. Strangely enough, however, despite Blatter's order to strictly prohibit leakage, it did not take long for the representatives of the various ethnic groups to learn of the astonishing news.
Zhang Lie and Blatter stood in front of the open vault, speechless for a while. Representatives of various ethnic groups who got the news rushed in a hurry, blocking the basement to the ground.
"What's going on? Blatter, didn't you say that the parts were safe to keep with you? The representative of the Quetzalcoatl asked in a loud voice, his tone gloating with unconcealed schadenfreude.
Blatter ignored him, but took the investigation report handed by a vampire, and after just one glance, his color changed slightly: "The intruder used Annie's identification card, and the fingerprints were also hers." β
Zhang Lie frowned: "It can't be Annie, so to speak..."
At this point, he and Blatter looked at each other and exclaimed, "John!? β
"He fled." Suddenly, Anne's voice came.
The two turned around, only to see Anne with a cold face separating the representatives of the various ethnic groups who were blocked outside, and walking towards this side. Her eyes were as cold as ice, and her whole body exuded a terrifying murderous aura, and there were a number of people from all races present, but when Anne passed by, they couldn't help but step aside.
"Is it him?" Zhang Lie rubbed his forehead and smiled bitterly.
Anne nodded calmly: "My identification card was stolen, and the fingerprint must have been stolen by him in some special way." β
Blatter knew very well what John meant to Anne for doing such a thing, and he couldn't help but say, "Maybe there's something else going on, are we going to do it again..."
Anne interrupted him coldly: "No need, I'm sure this bastard. It's entirely my responsibility to have things stolen, so I'll take care of cleaning things up. β
At this moment, a representative of a certain ethnic group who overheard their conversation suddenly shouted: "It's a person, it's that person who stole it!" β
"Who is it?" "How could anyone be here?" "What the hell is going on?" Everyone asked.
The fact that Anne and John were very close was in the league at the beginning, and at this moment the representative even said it with suspicion, although there were some discrepancies, but it was surprisingly close to the truth.
The people present were immediately in an uproar, and the representative of the Snow Maiden Clan said sharply: "I have long heard that Anne is obsessed with a human being, but I didn't expect her to be so stupid as to bring people into here." β
"Yes, such an important place will hide from someone, maybe one day we will be sold and we don't know what's going on."
"What is secretly stealing, I think this is basically done by her collusion with that person."
β¦β¦
The more people talked, the more ugly they became, and they pointed the finger at Anne. However, the strange thing is that Anne, who is usually hot-tempered, surprisingly did not say anything at this time, and let the representatives of various ethnic groups abuse her.
The more Zhang Lie listened, the more unpleasant it became, and he couldn't help but shout: "Shut up for me!" If you have a noisy spirit, you might as well think about how to chase things back! β
It's easy to seize an opportunity, and the representative of the elven race will not give up. He sneered, "That's a very light way to put it. You got Pandora's box, you don't think about how to destroy humanity, you have to make peace, you are the leader of the alliance, and we will do whatever you want. I don't know that I can't even keep a few parts now, and if I don't have a satisfactory answer, I doubt that you are qualified to lead the Inhuman Alliance. β
His words immediately caused another round of noise. Zhang Lie secretly smiled bitterly: "How can I make such a mess, these guys really wish I would collapse immediately." β
The difficult thing is that they are at fault, and they can't refute it loudly. Just when the quarrel was about to start, Anne's cold voice suddenly sounded: "I will be responsible for this." β
The field fell silent instantly, and everyone looked at Anne with a determined face. After a while, the representative of the Snow Maiden Clan said, "You are responsible?" Why are you responsible? How to be responsible? β
Anne still had the same expressionless tone: "The thing is because I lost it, and I will be responsible for finding it." β
Laughing disdainfully, the representative of the Snow Maiden Clan said in a weird manner: "I don't know if you and your concubine did it, why do you take this responsibility?" Maybe..."
Before she finished speaking, everyone heard a soft sound, followed by a flower in front of them, and the screams of the representatives of the Snow Maiden clan sounded loudly. I saw her covering her shoulders with a twisted face, and there was a black arrow stuck there!
"Annie, you dare to hurt me?" The Snow Maiden representative is furious.
With a flick of her hand and retracting the sniper bow, Anne still said: "I said, I will be responsible." Who else is not convinced? β
Shocked by it, no one dared to say a word again. After a while, a representative of a certain clan cautiously asked, "The man named John stole the parts, what are you going to do with him?" β
After a pause, Anne raised her head decisively: "Don't worry, he will... Die! β
No one spoke anymore, and Anne said to Zhang Lie and Blatter, "This time tomorrow, I will hand over the parts to you." β
Zhang Lie and Blatter tried to stop it, but Anne had already walked straight to the door. At this time, Mark stopped in front of her with a smile and said, "Dear Anne, do you want me to accompany you?" β
Without answering, Anne just looked back with an extremely cold look, Mark smiled bitterly and raised his hand to the side with an embarrassed expression.
Everyone understands that Anne can do anything without hesitation, so the best thing to do is to never, never mess with her.
Looking at Annie's back, Zhang Lie wanted to speak and stopped: "Annie will definitely be able to take the parts back, but..."
"yes, I'm worried about her meeting John, tooβ" Blatter sighed.
