Chapter 427: The back of the emperor
"Mom, I think you're getting a little nervous," said Mai Divan in the past.
"So you threw me a fireball to sober me up, didn't you?" the ex-Guardian snapped Madison. Khadgar found that she was much older than before. The blonde hair had turned white, and a few wrinkles appeared at the corners of his eyes and mouth. But other than that, her appearance hasn't changed much. Now, answer my question. β
"Mom, I think you're misleading," said Medivan in the past.
"Answer me!" Egwene interrupted him again, "Why did you bring orcs into Azeroth?!"
"No wonder he looks so annoyed when you ask him the same question. Garona said. Khadgar motioned for her to be silenced, and glanced at Madison. The real Medivan had stopped resisting the barrier, and his face seemed to have completely lost his lustre.
"Mom?" said Medivan now, his face looking like a child who had made a mistake.
"You can't answer at all, do you?" said Egwen, "Do you know what you're playing? A fun little game to challenge your two friends, Ryan and Lothar, right? The power of Tirisfa is no child's play, kid! Even now, the orcs are still pouring into the world, and I've heard about the convoy being attacked in the Black Swamp. Those rookie mages may be able to track them, but at most they can only find your portal, and only your mother and I can sense who created it. What else do you have to say?"
Khadgar was completely frightened by her ability to swear, and thought that Medivan in the past would cover her ears and slip away after being scolded like this. But Madison's response surprised him even moreβhe laughed instead.
"What your mom just said makes you laugh at yourself, doesn't it?" said Egwene scathingly.
"No," Medivan grinned, "I'm laughing at my mother's confusion." β
Khadgar's gaze turned to the house, and found that Medivan was visibly cowering at the words of his past self.
"You dare," Egwene shouted angrily, raising her right hand. A bright white ball of light shot out of his palm and flew towards Medivan in the past. And the astral mage easily waved his hand away from it.
"Of course I dare, Mom," said the apparition of the past. "I am also capable enough to do this, you gave me the capital to do this, you gave me this power that I don't want at all. Medivan's apparition waved his hand again, and the entire observatory was illuminated by a ball of light. Egwene caught it, but Khadgar noticed that she had to barely do it with two hands, and was shocked to take a step back.
"But why did you let the orcs come to Azeroth?" Egwene said breathlessly, "and that was completely unnecessary. You have put all of humanity in danger, what is your purpose?"
"To break the shackles of fate, of course. "Smash the world you built for me." For the sake of your selfishness, for your vanity, you take advantage of a qiΔ, even your own son. Once you can no longer be your guardian, your hand-picked, foster-raised biological son will inherit the position, but he will be held firmly in the palm of your hand for the rest of his life, just like your other pawns. β
Now Medivan sat on his knees, his eyes firmly fixed on the stage play in front of him. In his mouth, he silently repeated the words he had just said in his past.
Garona tugged at Radgar's sleeve, and he nodded. The two of them left the center of the barrier, moving slowly against the walls of the room. Intent to go undetected behind the real astral mage.
"But have you ever thought about the danger of this?" ...... child," Egwen said.
"Danger?" Medivan said, "Whose danger is it? Obviously not mine, what danger can I have with the power of Tirisfar? The danger of the other members of the council? they are more interested in intrigue than in dealing with demons. The dangers of the human nations: Eating and drinking all day long, ignorant of the threat of demons, and having to protect them quietly by guardians. You see, my plan didn't put anyone who really matters at risk. β
"You're doing something far beyond your own power, son," Eggwene said. Khadgar and Garona are already close to the exit. And now Medivan's attention is still all about visions.
"Oh, of course," the Astral Mage growled from his past, "I can do this and hurt your pride, right? Because you've also wrestled with an impossible Demon King. In the end, you still have the upper hand, right?"
They had turned behind Medivan, and Garona reached for the dagger hidden in her boots. Khadgar grabbed the hand and shook his head at her, and the two continued on their track. Tears glistened in the corners of the old man's eyes.
"What will happen to the orcs when they win?" said Egwen, "they worship gods and shadows. Would you want to hand Azeroth over to them?"
"Wait until they're victorious," said Medivan in the past. "I will be their king. They are power-worshipping, Mom, and that's different from you, and not like all the others in this poor world. Thanks to you, I am now the most powerful being in the world. I will break the shackles that you have placed on me, and I will rule over a qiΔ. β
There was silence after that. Khadgar and Garona remained motionless, holding their breath, lest the silence would draw the attention of Medivan to them.
Egwen, who had spoken in the past, was now focused on her. "You're not my son," she said.
Hearing this heartless words, Medivan now covered his face with his hands. And his former phantom was completely unimpressed: "It just so happened that you were right." I was never your son. It's never really your son, no matter how you understand it. β
The former Astral Mage laughed out loud. It was a low, thunderous laugh, the kind of laughter Khadgar had ever heard. In the icy plains of the Northlands, the last time the two of them fought.
Egwen was shocked, "Sargeras?!" she carefully recognized the voice for a moment, and finally confirmed, "I killed you with my own hands. β
"You killed a body, witch. You only killed my **!" Medivan roared as Khadgar noticed that his second shadow moved, stood up, and devoured him. His body had turned to shadow and flame, his beard had turned to flames, and ebony goat horns had grown from his forehead. "You killed me and hid my body in an ancient tomb deep in the ocean. But to achieve something as great as today, I'd rather sacrifice that body. β
Egwene was no longer listening to what he was saying, and she covered her stomach with one hand.
"You guessed it, dear mother," said Medivan as flames danced across his beard, and the smoke in front of his eyebrows cleared, revealing a pair of horns. He's Medivan, but he's also Sargeras, "I've infiltrated your body, hidden in the cells of your unformed son. I am cancer, his corrupter, his innate evil, an evil that you will never be aware of. It can't defeat you, and it's unlikely that you'll be converted. So I simply made your own offspring. β
Egwene raised her hands and shouted a spell, her words distorted and out of tune with the extreme rage that sounded like a human voice at all. A beam of glittering iridescent energy slammed into Medivan/Sargeras's chest.
The former apparition was shocked and staggered back a step, two steps, and then grasped the beam of energy with one hand. The smell of burnt meat on his hands immediately spread throughout the room. Sargeras/Medivan let out a loud shout and pronounced her spell, pushing it back. Egwene was knocked into the wall across the room.
"I won't kill you, Mom," the demonic figure said, "and some part of me is preventing me from doing so." But I can weaken you. Wound you badly and banish, and when you regain your strength, when you return from the place where I banished you, the world will be mine. This world, and the power of the Council of Tirispha!"
At the same time, Medivan now let out a dejected roar, praying to the heavens for forgiveness that would never come.
"I know what we're going to do," Garona said, holding Khadgar's robes, "and we'll be back when the time comes." β
Khadgar hesitated for a moment, then ran down the stairs after her.
They rolled three steps and fell down the stairs in one step, nearly crashing into Moros's arms.
"Excited," he said as calmly as ever, "in trouble?"
Garona slipped right past him, and Khadgar grabbed the old man and said, "The teacher is crazy. β
"Stricter than usual?" Moros responded.
"Not kidding," Khadgar said, his eyes suddenly brightened, "Do you have a whistle that summons griffins?"
The servant pulled out a metal whistle with carved runes, "I'm honored to summon ......"
"I'll do it myself," Khadgar snatched and chased after Garona, "his target is us, but you'd better run away." Take Cook with you and run away with her, as far away as possible. β
With that, Khadgar disappeared from view.
"Escape?" Moros looked at the apprentice's back, "Hmph, where can I escape?" )
