Chapter Seventy-Three: "Rose Glass" (I)
Edward had no reason to refuse—at least for now, the Marco Tasker wizard had been impeccable enough to convince him that he was under threat and was reluctant to work for the Blood Banner Brotherhood.
For such a good reason as not wanting to violate his conscience, and because of his own coercion, he agreed to take him to the maker of the so-called "magic weapon"—all of them went according to the rules, as if they should have developed like this, but the more this happened, the more Edward had a feeling of great disharmony, as if something was wrong, but he couldn't see it.
But now he couldn't find any clues beyond that, and Edward, who didn't know anything about Turin City, still didn't get any help from Gaio. So he smiled and agreed to this "invitation" and went to the "Rose Glass" located on Silk Street.
This "famous" neighborhood is located at the foot of the westernmost hills of Turin, stretching from a gentle creek to the hills, just a street and a bridge from the Tasker family's old home. Obviously, it has reached the time when the moon is bright and the stars are scarce, but here is the beginning of the lights, and it seems to be lively in the daytime.
It may seem narrower than the streets at the foot of the Markellus Hills or the South Gate, but it is full of pedestrians, and in the distance you can see a number of elaborate four-wheeled carriages slowly moving through the crowd. In the shade of the trees along the roadside often stand a few juggling clowns or bards who play the harp and sing loudly, and they start to improvise just by putting a broken hat on the ground, and many passers-by throw down a few coins.
In contrast to the apartment streets where the Taskers lived, Silk Street was full of elaborate gardens, magnificent restaurants, theaters and shops, large and small gardens and exotic towers, reminiscent of the towers of Dominic palaces, and the streets were often filled with well-dressed pedestrians, drums and laughter adorning the sky.
"This is where the true aristocracy of Turin lived—when night falls, when the day really begins. As he walked down the street, Marco smiled and danced as he introduced the place to Edward: "The Dominicians of the South always think that they are the only ones who know how to live at night, and in fact the people of Turin were the first to enjoy this kind of fun!"
"All the rich people in the world will enjoy the nightlife. Seeing this brightly lit and lively scene, Edward was a little distracted, with a quiet smile very leisurely browsing the street scenery, the lights in the distance, as if a scene was shuttling through some ancient story.
While he was admiring the street scene, Marco was also looking at the fellow who called himself Edward Witwood, who looked lazy and very enthusiastic, but in his heart he was already vigilant to the point that there was nothing to add.
Marco Tasker had wanted to see what kind of guy the Order would send to hunt down the Brotherhood, but it was a surprise to him that there was only one person, so there were only two possibilities - either this guy was just a cover to disguise the true purpose of the Knights of the Sacred Tree, or this guy was so powerful that the Knights of the Sacred Tree believed that he could raid the Brotherhood's headquarters alone.
Although Marco would rather believe that it was a bit of both, it was probably the latter - although there were only a few gangsters in the old mansion, he had hoped to cause at least a little trouble, but he was easily killed by himself!
Thinking of the tattered cloak from earlier, the silver-haired wizard felt as if he had found a very clever and terrifying fellow - but in that case, it might be just right......
"Look, we're there!" Marco suddenly stood in front of a golden-red carpet and beckoned to Edward, "Welcome to the Rose Glass, Mr. Edward Witwood." ”
Obviously, business here is also good, Edward subconsciously looked at the lawn around which was almost full of carriages, and there were two respectful-looking waiters standing on both sides of the golden red carpet sticking out of the gate, smiling at him and Marco: "Is it the first time for the two gentlemen, in this case, I may be able to arrange for the two of you......"
"Oh, no. Marco smiled proudly, stretched out two fingers and waved back at the waiter, and then patted Edward's back quite enthusiastically and walked in side by side with him: "Believe me, you will enjoy this place, for men, this is the real heaven on earth!"
The humble waiter smiled and opened the bright red door, and the melodious singing, the gentle laughter, the melodious piano, the fragrance of rouge, Edward smiled, and thus broke into the enchanting pink hidden in the hazy incense.
The spacious circular hall, the floor at the foot is still sprinkled with colorful flower petals, the surrounding walls are decorated with various frescoes and tapestries decorated with a little pale marble, and the wooden floor under the feet also seems to have a slightly exotic style, specially paved with wooden boards of different sizes and colors into twelve beautiful prints, which look like ......
"Leona, a deity worshipped in the kingdom of Vandalusia in the far west, whom they called the goddess of knighthood. Marco walked over to Edward's confession, and with a funny smile he pointed to the portrait of the female knight on the floor in armor and on a warhorse: "But in Turin, she is at best a more difficult woman to deal with. ”
"That is, the frescoes, the tapestries, the sculptures, the floors ...... here"
"Of course, what is more attractive in this world than exotic?" Marco had a faint smile on his face, and with his handsome face, the laziness in his eyes was simply a natural nobleman. The right hand pointed around—the well-dressed waiter holding the wine and food, and the girl in a bright dress...... The smirking silver-haired wizard beckoned to Edward, "Now please follow me." ”
In the center of the hall is a patio, and on a marble stage about two meters high, a woman in a navy blue dress stands, looking indifferent, singing in a low voice, while the musicians holding instruments around them play along with the melodious singing, and the cheerful and wonderful notes flow throughout the hall, making people seem to be much more relaxed.
However, Edward was not in the mood to listen to the opera now, and glanced over lightly, this Mr. Marco Tasker seemed to be looking for someone, and his expression was a little frightened, so that Edward couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth - this Mr. Wizard didn't even have half a child now, and if someone found out, it would be fun.
It is true that Edward still has some silver coins on him, but this luxury is ...... He wasn't even sure if he had enough money to let the two people out here.
"Oh...... My poor little Mark, you haven't been here in a long time. A woman dressed in an extremely bright dress seemed to be extremely surprised, hurriedly walked over with her skirt, and hugged Marco tightly as if she was a long-lost relative: "Since you were expelled from the wizarding union, I haven't heard from you again, how are you now?"
"Oh...... I'm fine, Lady Olenna. Marco quickly replied with a smile, but his expression seemed a little stiff: "Now I'm not a wizard, I don't have to obey those terrible rules and precepts anymore, I have to come to see you secretly!"
"What a sweet boy, Glass Rose will always welcome you. Lady Olenna pursed her lips and laughed, and then she noticed Edward, who had been standing there with a flat face: "Is this your friend?"
"It's mine, uh...... Save your life!" The silver-haired wizard hurried up to Edward as if fleeing for his life, hugging his shoulders tightly, and his cousin was sincere enough to make people think that they were brothers: "I brought him here today to repay the grace of saving my life!"
"I'm sorry, but please forgive us for being so neglectful, honored guest. The woman with heavy makeup hurriedly walked over with a smile and carried her skirt to give a slight salute: "Don't you know what we can do?"
"Old room, you know what the place is. Marco suddenly preemptively spoke, smiled at Edward, and then looked at Lady Olenna mysteriously, "Find me a more innocent friend for this friend...... Well, after all, it's the first time, don't be too violent, but I boasted to him about Haikou, saying what a tasteful place the rose glass is......"
"If you remember, I'll arrange it for this little guest. Lady Olenna lowered her voice and glanced at Edward quietly, "Do you still have any money on you?"
"Please don't worry, I won't owe you even if I press the old mansion!" Marco's expression was a little embarrassed, but his eyes immediately became nervous: "The little girl I came to see last time...... Is she still here?"
"Well, those rich people who know what they like to do. Lady Olenna nodded slightly, and suddenly stared at Marco as if she remembered something: "Do you think about it again...... My little Marco, you don't even know how scared me last time! I didn't know that girl was involved with the Minester family, don't ......."
"Don't worry, I'm just asking, that's all. Marco's eyes flickered, revealing a somewhat reassuring smile: "I'm not a fool, how could I provoke the Minest family so blatantly?"
