Chapter 342: Make the most of it
"At this very moment, we have to go into Grimbaatar!" Elidy argued to the mage. "The more we wait, the more they will be tormented!"
"Don't I know that?" Luo Ning said sharply. He sat on an old tree trunk with his hands in front of him. A faint blue flame burned in front of them, a faint flame that was impossible to see in the distance. "My wife is also in it, and there is nothing more important in this world than a wife and children, no. β
"So why don't we do what you said earlier?"
He replied. "I don't know what magic is like to the Draenei, especially to you. But it was too expensive, and besides, it wasn't the first time I'd used it, I'd used it twice before, to find her. β
Ronin picked up the amulet that Winlessa had once carried. Elidi felt nothing from it, after all, she was not its creator.
He was getting more and more irritable. The priestess blamed herself for adding to Ronin's troubles. As a priestess, she has shown too many weaknesses in the last few days. The Draenei wondered how she had ever thought she would be able to find the captured dragon. She is now laughed at by her arrogance.
The two sat in the wild of Grimbaatar, near what Ronin called the Velociraptor Plains. The name struck a sleepy Elidi, reminding her of the battle at Minahill Harbor. Although the mage told her that all the velociraptors had run towards the dwarven settlement.
"They felt the qiΔ happening in Grimbaatar," he told her. "They must be causing a big problem for the dwarves right now. β
He pulled out some simple food from the pocket that was much deeper than it looked and gave it to her. The red-haired mage pulled out more food from his pocket than it could hold, but the pocket didn't look deflated at all.
"There are still a lot of benefits to my profession," Ronin explained as he and Elidi ate brown bread and cheese. "But it's also very expensive. β
"The responsibility on your shoulders is also heavy. β
"Do you mean the mage, the Alliance, or the human? I always seem to have to do more than I want. The Alliance always wants more from Dalaran, and the mages are counting on me to do something different from what they've been doing for hundreds of years, and the humans ...... I've seen too many deaths...... I want to end...... I just want to be with my family. β
But neither the Alliance Mage nor the Human Ronin wanted to give up. Elidi understands this, too. This mage is like Crassus, trying to make Azeroth better, and he has given too much for it.
Even now. His lover may have died.
"You will become a legend," the priestess said calmly. "You're going to do something great, I'm sure you're going to do it. β
"I can't even guarantee the safety of my wife and children. He shook his head. "I can defeat demons, dragons. Orcs are even more, but terrible things still happen to the people I care about the most. β
She patted him on the shoulder as a sign of comfort. Although Elidy doesn't have a family as close as his, she can understand his grief. "Only those who know the most about fear can make the greatest achievements. β
"Your words remind me of a demigod I've ever seen, Cenariusβ" He stopped abruptly, nervously on guard. "What-?"
Ronin motioned for her to be quiet. His left hand was clenched into a fist. "I think this time it will be successful. It's more shocking than anything else, but ......"
The blue glow instantly brightened thousands of times, but its glow was still confined to an area the size of a courtyard, with Ronin and Elidi standing in the center of the light.
But they don't seem to be the only ones in this light.
More than a dozen tall, raptor-like creatures surrounded them. They are not dragonmen, but they are very similar to them, they also walk on two legs, but they are more primitive and savage, which evokes nightmares in Elidi's memory.
"Velociraptor......" Ronin whispered.
A fierce light stunned the beasts. But a few still turned their jaws. More than one velociraptor was hissing and roaring. Their tails flick back and forth anxiously.
"Come close to me," the mage ordered.
Elidy trusted his judgment, though she was also prepared to summon the Naru Staff. The velociraptor walked back and forth. This draenei noticed that Ronin had slightly diminished the brightness of the flames.
Upon closer inspection, Elidy noticed that most of them were scarred, and some appeared to be fresh. Elidi recalls the battle at Minahill Harbor.
The velociraptor continued to wander. Occasionally, one or two will cry out. There is a subtle distinction between these low roars, which vary from velociraptor to velociraptor to velociraptor to rex. Elidy reached out to summon the staff, trying to make sense of the roars with the staff.
"There's more out there," Ronin said to her, interrupting her thoughts.
"More? How many?"
"It's hard to say. But it's enough for me to drink a pot. He stared around. "It looks like they've been battered in the battle at Minethil Harbor, the dwarves aren't tall, but they're strong, and the velociraptors can't defeat them with their incredible speed and sharp teeth. Ronin looked forward. "Well, it looks like their leader is coming." β
Out of the darkness appeared a velociraptor with a large size and brighter plumage. It is bright red all over its body, with gold and blue stripes all over it. There was a kingly air in his steps - maybe a queen. Elidy couldn't tell her gender.
The other velociraptors lowered their heads as their leaders passed. A few twisted their necks to show the leader their more fragile and soft parts.
"They are showing their hearts to the chief. Ronin explained.
"Is it male or female?"
"That's a very good question. β
Elidy waited for him to answer. But he never said anything about it. The key question now is what the leader of the velociraptor wants to do to them, and whether it is possible for the two of them to escape from Ascension once they attack them in groups.
"I have my own way, you don't have to worry about that. Ronin whispered, as if he had seen through Elidy's thoughts.
"I'm just curious why such a large group of predators would treat us like something even scarier than them?"
The leader paused in front of them, and he looked at Elidy. Then he turned to the mage again.
Finally, it roared at Ronin.
Elidi tried to make a move, but Ronin gently grabbed her arm.
"Our friends seem to want to talk to us and see if we can understand what it says. β
The velociraptor roared again. This time the tone has changed. Elidi carefully discerned, but did not feel any aggression in it.
"I think it's courting you. She said to Ronin.
"That's what I thought too, the strange idea of discussing friendship with a big carnivorous guy. Of course. I've had even stranger things happen. β
To her surprise, Ronin took a step forward. His gaze met that of a velociraptor in keep. Then he stepped back and said to Elidy, "Always look them in the eye, or you might be in trouble." It's important that you learn to put yourself in the same place as them. He smiled and said, "It's all diplomacy I've learned in the past few years...... and the eyes between humans and velociraptors lasted more than a minute. Then the velociraptor glanced to the side slightly, and Ronin nodded. The slight movement seemed to turn the confrontation around, and the velociraptor lowered his head and looked in the other direction.
Despite the risks, Ronin cautiously turned his gaze in the same direction.
"It's looking at Grimbaatar," he said, "and it's amazing to me." β
"Does it want us to go back? should we just be captured by the Blood Elves and their masters?"
"I doubt that. The mage turned to the velociraptor leader again. "If only we could understand it. β
Elidi summoned the staff. "Looks like I can do something. β
She called out Naru's gifts, and the velociraptors hissed, but nothing else responded. Without saying a word, Ronin watched as Elidi carefully pointed the head of the crystal wand at the velociraptor leader.
"Do you understand what I'm saying?" She asked.
The velociraptor roared.
In the mind of the female pastor, a series of images suddenly appeared. Velociraptor hunting. Suddenly, a wave of uneasiness came, and the silhouette of Grimbaatar appeared. Two terrifying bat-like beasts descended from the sky, grabbed the two unfortunate ones and devoured them in the air. Elidy discovers that the monster can even transform into different forms. She remembered that it was the same pair of Twilight Dragons she and Crassus had faced. The image is a good expression of what the velociraptor wanted to sue them.
"What a surprise!" Luo Ning muttered, at this moment, it sounded a lot like a red dragon mage. He had apparently seen the visions as well, which surprised her, but the staff continued to deliver new messages.
More images appeared, and the velociraptor horde fled west, as Elidi could come up with a description. The image of Grimbaatar lingered, and the Draenei could only assume that it was because of the evil sight that left a huge shadow on the velociraptors, an evil that they would not be able to shake off.
This was followed by the battle of the port of Minahir. In fact, velociraptors fought dwarves before. But never before has it been on such a large scale, and various tribes have joined the battle. Grimbaator reappears for the reason he had previously seen. But the battle for new habitat didn't go well, and the dwarves held on to their territory. In fact, at first, it was difficult for Elidi to tell who the velociraptors were fighting with, because from their perspective. The dwarves are very similar to the black-jawed monsters.
What follows is the sight of velociraptors moving between the mountains and the port of Minethir, running from one end to the other, repeating itself. The image of Luo Ning appeared, but not the current Luo Ning, but a younger and immature face. He was facing a green-skinned orc.
"I'm damned!" The mage suddenly said, "That's me during the counterattack against the orcs. He thought for a moment, then continued, "Some of the velociraptors involved in that battle must have been here, probably because it grew up to be their leader. He paused, watching as the new image continued to emerge.
It was still Ronin and the orc, but there was an extra velociraptor on the sideβElidi recognized it as the leader in front of them. The target of the velociraptor in the video is not Ronin, but the orc.
The orc suddenly transforms into a black-jawed monster and then into a bat-winged twilight dragon, and no matter what enemy they face, Ronin and the velociraptor are always fighting side by side.
The velociraptor leader shook his head slightly, and the image vanished.
"What does that mean?" Elidi asked softly, staring at the mage as patiently as the velociraptors.
It took Ronin a long time to think about what he should answer, he had to dispel the priestess's doubts. "To be honest, I think, I think they want our help. I think they're trying to form an alliance with us, if you can believe it......"
Elidy nodded. If the velociraptors were as clever as they looked, Ronin's idea wasn't too outrageous. After all, the Velociraptor was too close to Grimbaatar, and she knew how desperate the Velociraptors were to attack the port of Minethil. Perhaps they sensed Ronin's power and immediately saw him as a savior as soon as he appeared.
Whatever the facts were, Ronin now seemed to have accepted his position in the eyes of the other party, and he walked towards the velociraptor leader, and the giant beast lowered its head again, as if it didn't dare to do anything offensive to the humans in front of him.
The mage has stepped into the range that the velociraptor can attack. He held his breath and held out his hand. "Come on, friend, come on......"
The giant beast sniffed his hand, its claws that were big enough to break Luo Ning's entire arm kept clenching, and a pair of large nostrils probed back and forth from Luo Ning's hand to his arm, leaking out some liquid, Luo Ning could only say that he didn't care about it.
Next, the leader stepped back, sending a strange signal to his people.
The velociraptors lowered their heads to the ground in unison, but their eyes were fixed on Grimbaatar.
Ronin smiled a little sinisterly, he looked back at Elidy and said, "Looks like we have a ready-made army," a light flashed in the mage's eyes, "I'm thinking about how to make the most of it." (To be continued.) )
