The idea for this novel dates back to the beginning of the century. It was an unforgettable period, with the acceleration of reform and opening up and the rise of capital markets. In 2005, the listed company Hunan Torch was merged by Weichai Power, a local state-owned enterprise, and the market was shaken. That's when I started to pay attention to the capital markets. At that time, coinciding with the share reform, I was also involved in it, and I couldn't help but become a "representative of small and medium-sized shareholders and a financial person". This rare experience prompted me to hastily complete a novel, Dreams and Madness. This work focuses on the share reform of the capital market. At this time, I was concerned about the infringement of the interests of small shareholders by some major shareholders in the share reform, and the manufacturing industry was just a passing stroke.

After the novel was published, the CEO of a well-known heavy power group company met me and told me his story. The CEO went to Jakarta to expand the market during the most difficult time, and he found that the local rat infestation was serious, so he had the idea to buy rat poison from China and sell it, and the local supply soon exceeded the supply. At the time, he said that selling a pack of rat poison in Jakarta was even more profitable than a small engine. He spoke casually, and I listened attentively. I strongly feel the perseverance and business sense that an entrepreneur possesses. After that, I followed him for many years, and visited his companies several times to experience life and benefited a lot.

The rich and successful struggle experience of this outstanding entrepreneur opened up my creative horizons, and I realized that I had put the cart before the horse, and although the share reform was a historical progress, it could not determine the fate of Chinese enterprises. It is a large number of entrepreneurs like Sun Heping who decide the fate of the enterprise, and it is they who lead the enterprise out of the predicament and create industrial miracles.

So, a story about Made in China began to brew in my mind, and twelve years later it became this "The Great Game".

It's a story about entrepreneurs and manufacturing, it's a story about capital, and it's a story about people. How big a person's heart is, determines how much career he can do, just like these protagonists in "The Great Game".
